H&M's 'mega comfortable' £18 linen trousers are a 'winner for summer'

Daily Record02-06-2025
These airy linen-blend trousers can be worn time and time again this season.
There's something about wearing linen during summer. Not just an airy choice for balmy days, but it is also incredibly comfortable, especially for travelling.
Anyone looking to add the material to their wardrobe will find an abundance of items to choose from, but we think H&M has something that can be worn time and time again this season.
The high street retailer's Linen-Blend Trousers, which cost an incredibly budget-friendly £17.99, are currently the subject of glowing praise from other shoppers who are snapping up "multiple" pairs.
Available in sizes XS to XXL, these trousers have been crafted from an "airy" weave and a breathable linen-blend. With their loose-fitting design, they'd be ideal for wearing on the plane, on vacation and on summer evenings when you are out for dinner.
There's an elasticated high waistline, complete with a drawstring that can be used to 'cinch' in the figure, with reviews suggesting that they are "very flattering" to wear.

A glowing review read: "I'm really pleased with these trousers. They're wide but not too wide. They're long but not too long for me at 5.5. They're a sort of off white which is easy to wear and they're not see through. Really great for the hot weather. Oh, and the creases drop out! A winner for summer."
Someone else praised: "Wow! So glad I ordered just in time for our Cornish holiday. I suffer with bloating so went for L (I'm a 12). Could have ordered a medium but these are mega comfortable. It doesn't feel like you're wearing anything! Going to order other colours for work. I'm 5ft 3 so they're long but I like that."
Fashion deal of the week
In need of new trainers, but don't want to pay Skechers prices.
Then these STQ Women's Slip-On Trainers are said to be "much better" than the famed brand. Even better, they are currently priced from just £30.99 on Amazon.
With their slip-on style design and ultra-breathable mesh material, these trainers are said to be a fuss-free option for anyone who spends long periods of time on their feet, alongside anyone who suffers from foot pain issues such as plantar fasciitis.
The flexible knitted material features an elastic cuff, making them easy to pop on and take off, while the wide fit fabric has been designed to make it feel like you are wearing nothing on your feet.
Crafted with over 1,000 ventilation holes, they ensure that feet don't get to sweaty during wear, while the memory foam insole provides good arch support, making it feel "like walking on air".
Available to buy in sizes three through to eight, shoppers can select from eight colours including black, grey and pink. However, it's worth noting that the £30.99 price-tag is available on the black colourway.
With the STQ Trainers posing the cheapest price-tag, shoppers might be happy to hear that they have earned a 4.4 rating based on over 5,000 Amazon reviews that suggest they are "light as a feather" and "really comfortable".
One delighted shopper said: "Super lightweight, comfortable and a fab colour pink. Much better all round than the Skechers I bought at four times the price! Your feet will love these."
One shopper who was going to buy multiple colours said: "So light and comfortable. Going to buy more as very reasonably priced."
There has been some criticism for the "unreliable sizing", both in the length and waistline. One such shopper who left a three-star review read: "Huge! Size down but be prepared for the small to be on the small side!"
Although, this wasn't the case for everyone, as another pleased shopper said: "I am a size 12 and ordered a M. They are light and floaty and perfect for summer. The length is great, I'm 5'8 and I can still wear them mid waist with a crop top and they look great.
"They aren't too tight on the waist either, very comfortable, glad I bought these in 2 different colours!

From spritzers to M&S' 1.5L wine pouches – the supermarket's hottest summer drinks & prices start from £2.50

HOT weather calls for refreshing drinks. And whether you're hosting friends, popping over for a family BBQ, or fancy a cold tinnie in the park, there are lots of exciting new drinks you can pick up with your weekly shop. 4 Say hello to spritzers Searches for "Hugo spritz" have soared by 350% over the past week, and spritzers in general are fast becoming the hottest refreshment of the summer season. Best served chilled, and over ice if you prefer, M&S' Elderflower & Mint Hugo Spritz was a refreshing and light white wine cocktail for just £2.50. We also tried the Spritz Cans in Limoncello, Aperitivo, and Lychee Sake flavours, with the Aperitivo reminding us of Aperol Spritz. Talking of the Italian classic, Sainsbury's had cleverly bottled orange and peach spritzes to enjoy over ice. Light in alcohol, they were refreshingly delicious, and at £6 each (on Nectar Price), you can't not pop them in your basket! If you're looking for a classic holiday drink, M&S is causing a stir with its new bottles of Lightly Sparkling Sangria. Box When hosting, the last thing you want to do is be running back and forth to the fridge where the wine is kept, or worse, offering warm rosé to your guests. 4 Box wine used to be the answer, but was somewhat frowned upon; thankfully, M&S has the answer: 1.5L wine pouches. Sophisticated and convenient, the Coteaux Varois Rosé 1.5L Pouch and the Pinot Grigio Gargenega 1.5L Pouch not only look beautiful but taste sublime on a warm day. So much so, I was a little annoyed I had to share them! With that in mind, and not being one to gatekeep a good rosé, if you're looking for a pale, crisp glass to enjoy alone, Fabulous tried and tested the best rosé bottles from across the supermarkets, and Asda's £12.97 Screaming Devil was awarded the coveted title of being Whispering Angel's dupe. Wine colours of the rainbow If you're thinking, 'been there, drank all the rosés, I want to try something new and different', what about orange or green wine? Asda's £7.82 Gros Manseng Vin Orange is an interesting option; it smells deliciously of white peach and a touch of blossom, but tastes of citrus zest and a touch of ripe mango. What is orange wine? Orange wine, also known as skin-contact wine, is a product of the close relationship - or Beau Rapport in French - between the juice and the skins. Orange wine is a white wine made in the same way as a red, with the juice staying in close contact with the skins and seeds. This gives the depth of flavour of a red, but with the refreshing qualities of a white wine, and results in a light golden appearance with amber highlights. As for green wine, Sainsbury's £8.50 Atlantique Vinho Verde is a great choice, made from grapes from the west coast of Portugal. It's aromatic, light and elegant with hints of mineral alongside lime and apple fruit flavours. What about a glass of cold red? The Hugo Mendes Pitau Clarete is described as an "exciting red" wine that "can be lightly chilled" to enjoy on a warm summer's evening. If the striking artistic label doesn't conjure up dinner party conversation, the colour will as it reminded us of Ribena. At £18.25, it is a little pricey, but one to buy for an evening with friends. If orange, green, or chilled red wines are out of your comfort zone, fear not, The Sun's wine expert has shared a list of the classic supermarket wines you need to try this summer. Don't forget the picky bits! Hosting a sit-down meal and need appetisers? Or perhaps you have a kids' party coming up, are off on a picnic, or are getting the BBQ out, the supermarkets are going head to head with seasonal food. Tesco From pork pies, to sausage or cheese rolls, and quiches, plump olives and coleslaw, Tesco's Finest range has you covered. Don't forget! Napkins, cutlery, table covers - from strawberries, to bumble bees and daisies, Tesco has a range of fun items to decorate your space. Waitrose There's 3 for £12 and mix and match across the BBQ selection with bavette steaks and smash burgers on offer. As well as stand-out appetiser options like the No.1 Italian Grazing Platter that will instantly impress guests. M&S From topped and loaded dips, to sensational sharing bags of crisps and Marmite sausage rolls, Abigail Wilson tried the whole range and revealed the winners. Asda Hot weather calls for ice lollies; Twisters, Fruit Pastilles, Calippos and Rowntrees Fruit Push Ups are all on Rollback at Asda. Pop open a Pressé When I'm not sipping rosé but at a social gathering, I tend to stick to drinking water, and whilst it's hydrating, it's a little boring. So for anyone tee-total or just not in the mood for alcohol, I was really impressed with Asda's Pressés. The Sparkling Raspberry Pressé has a hint of garden mint, whilst the Elderflower Pressé a hint of Sicilian lemon - both went down a treat amongst the crowd - and only £2.14 on Rollback. Even when the sun doesn't shine, you can still be transported to hotter climes with a sip of Waitrose's £2.30 Piña Colada Mocktail - and the Mojito mocktail was just as good, especially considering there was no alcohol. 4 After all those tasty drinks, it's dessert time, and the supermarkets are competing in 'who has the best gelato?' The Sun's consumer team also tried all the ice lollies and found the winner to be a 23p fruit split from Morrisons.

I swear by Amazon's £21 clothes steamer – it's the ultimate hack for people who hate ironing

I go away a lot, and one thing that's hard to avoid when you're often packing and unpacking, is creased clothes. My clothes steamer comes in handy all the time - it's not fancy or branded, and costs just £21 on Amazon. 3 BEAUTURAL Clothes Steamer, £21.99 Working in an office means needing my clothes to be crease-free, and with plenty of linen and cotton in my summer wardrobe, this can feel like a neverending cycle. I got fed up of ironing years ago, and decided to replace my most hated chore with an easier solution. I bought the BEAUTURAL Clothes Steamer from Amazon, in the hope that it would save me time and effort. Performance The handheld steamer couldn't be easier to use - all you have to do is pull out the water tank and fill it with tap water. Then, you just press the power button at the back and wait a few seconds for the steam to start up. I find the easiest way to steam an item of clothing is by hanging it up on a doorway, and then I can run the steamer down it in lines, until all the creases have gone. You don't get the exact same finish as with an iron (clothes aren't as crisp), however it does get the majority of wrinkles out, in more than half the time. Not only does it do the job, but it also avoids having to lug an ironing board out of the cupboard. Plus, my main two issues with ironing are solved - it's near-on impossible to burn something with the steamer, and I don't have to worry about creasing one side. 3 BEAUTURAL Clothes Steamer, £21.99 BUY FROM AMAZON For best results, I'd recommend leaving the clothes hanging up for a while after steaming, just to let any leftover creases drop out - but I do sometimes use it in a hurry too. The steamer can also be used horizontally on flat surfaces like tablecloths and even soft furnishings. If, like me, you're often packing a suitcase for a staycation or holiday, the steamer is fairly compact, so you could take it with you to use when you arrive. I've never encountered any leaking when using the steamer, but it is best to switch it off as soon as you stop using it, to avoid damp surfaces. It also works better on some fabrics than others - I would avoid using it for woollen or wool-effect clothes, as they can soak up the moisture. BEAUTURAL Clothes Steamer, £21.99 Speaking of handy household gadgets, there are some great deals out there at the moment, including the Ninja Summer Sale, which cuts 20% off almost everything online. Or, if you're kitting out your kitchen, I did a Ninja Crispi review, and found the air fryer to be a great household addition for getting crispy skin on chicken and cooking up snacks.

M&S's beauty advent calendar should be top of your list in 2025 – here's why

Forget chocolate countdowns, the best beauty advent calendars are the alternative festive tradition that I get on board with every year. But while heavy hitters like Liberty and Harvey Nichols come with a hefty price tag, M&S's cult-favourite calendar sets you back less than £50. Adding a touch of luxury to the Christmas period, beauty advent calendars can include everything from premium skincare and cult make-up to men's grooming essentials. After all, what better way is there to treat yourself during party season than with a pampering gift every day of December? A sell-out hit year after year, the high street stalwart usually offers an indulgent edit of winter beauty essentials from household names – think Benefit, Clinique, Ren, Percy & Reed and Living Proof. The line-up tends to boast an overall value of more than £300, and it's usually packaged in a velvet vanity case that can be reused long after Christmas. I've been reviewing beauty advent calendars for four years, having tested brands from John Lewis and Lookfantastic to Boots and plenty more. But M&S remains my favourite. Not only is it affordable, but the contents promise plenty of variety and include brands you can really trust. While you might be busy enjoying the last few weeks of summer, true to form, Christmas has come early in the beauty world. Brands including Liberty are already looking ahead to the festive season by unveiling this year's best beauty advent calendars. While M&S is yet to reveal its 2025 offering, below, I'm predicting what it might cost and what could be inside. When can you shop M&S's beauty advent calendar 2025? No details have been announced about when you'll be able to shop the M&S beauty advent calendar, but I'm expecting it to drop in late October. In 2024, the calendar was available from Thursday, 24 October, while in 2023, it was released on Thursday, 26 October. How much will M&S's beauty advent calendar 2025 cost? Details for this year's line-up remain under wraps, but last year the calendar cost £50 when you spent £35 in-store or online on beauty, home and clothing (which is easily done, thanks to M&S's stellar autumn fashion collection and homeware). I'm expecting it to be priced similarly this year. What products could be inside M&S's beauty advent calendar 2025? Again, no details have been released yet, but last year's calendar gives us a flavour of what to expect. In 2024, M&S's curated line-up of 25 beauty gifts includes haircare, make-up, body care, skincare and fragrance, with 11 full-size products and 14 travel-sized minis. Better yet, it was packaged in a navy velvet vanity case – which is far more useful than the boxes that most advent calendars come in (I still use my vanity case from last year's calendar as storage and for travel). Packaging aside, there was a lot to get excited about. When it came to haircare, there was Color Wow's colour security shampoo (£21.50 for full size, and conditioner (£21.50 for full size, plus a full-size Percy & Reed's tame that mane smoothing blow dry cream (£20, Philip Kingsley's elasticizer (£21 for full size, ans a 60ml Living Proof PhD five-in-one styling treatment (£28 for full size, When it came to premium skincare, Clinique's take the day off balm (£34 for full size, was in the mix, as well as Ren's gentle cleansing milk (£25 for 150ml, The make-up line-up was smaller but equally stellar - think Benefit's fan fest mascara ( and Pixi kohl eyeliner (£12, Other luxe brands included were L'Occitane and Cowshed. So, can the 2025 M&S beauty advent calendar top last year's? Watch this space.
