KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia confirmed their slot in the semifinals of the men's team regu at the 2025 Asian Sepak Takraw Championship after achieving their second straight victory in Group B by defeating Japan 3-0 at the Titiwangsa Stadium here today.
The country's first regu comprising Amirul Zazwan Amir (feeder), Muhammad Syahir Rosdi (tekong), and Mohamad Azlan Alias (killer), contributed the first point after a 15-11, 15-7 win while the momentum was then continued by the second regu comprising Farhan Adam (feeder), Muhammad Haziq Hairul Nizam (tekong), and Muhammad Noraizat Nordin (killer), who won 15-8, 15-9.
The third regu of the country, Aidil Aiman Azwawi (feeder), Muhammad Zulkifli Abd Razak (tekong), and Muhammad Afifuddin Mohd Razali (killer), ensured a 3-0 victory for Malaysia after beating their opponents 15-8, 15-8 in straight sets.

Anwar congratulates Harimau Malaya on 4-0 win over Vietnam
KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has congratulated the national football team on their recent feat in defeating Vietnam in the Asian Cup Group F qualifier. In a Facebook post, Anwar described Harimau Malaya's performance during last night's match as the beginning of a stronger comeback. "Congratulations, Harimau Malaya. Let yesterday's victory be the start of a more glorious comeback," he said. Meanwhile, Bernama reported that the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) expressed its gratitude to Anwar and the Malaysian government for their full assistance and support, which contributed to Harimau Malaya's resounding 4-0 victory over Vietnam at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium. In a statement, FAM announced that apart from financial support through special allocations for Harimau Malaya, the government also facilitated the documentation process for new heritage players, enabling them to feature in the second Group F match of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup Final Qualifiers in Saudi Arabia. "It is hoped that the full support from the country's top leadership and fans will continue to inspire Harimau Malaya's performance in upcoming international matches, en route to becoming one of the giants of Asian football," the statement read. LABUAN: The Labuan Youth and Sports Complex upgrading project is progressing ahead of schedule, with physical works already reaching 82 per cent compared to the scheduled 73 per cent. Public Works Department (PWD) director Ir. Mohd Faizul Mohd Ali Hanapiah said the project, an initiative by the federal government to enhance sports and youth facilities in this duty-free island costs RM21,398,715.10. 'The project site was handed over to the contractor on Dec 1, 2021, with full completion initially scheduled for Dec 10, 2025,' he said to Bernama today. Mohd Faizul said the scope of works involves various upgrade and repair components, including the reconstruction and improvement of the main hall and stadium buildings, structural repairs, enhancement of the football field and running track, and upgrading of athletics facilities. 'The project also includes the demolition of the old swimming pool, repairs to the tennis and open courts, and the replacement of the stadium grandstand roof, as well as other supporting facilities,' he added. Mohd Faizul said the project's positive progress reflects efficient project management, strong commitment from the contractor, and good synergy with the Labuan PWD, and the Labuan Youth and Sports Department.
