Beloved New Orleans singer Lillian Boutte has died

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Dynamic and beloved New Orleans singer Lillian Boutte has passed away. Her family confirmed she died on Friday following a lengthy illness.
After a stellar career stateside, Boutte found success abroad, spending over 30 years living and performing in Europe. During that time, she brought many New Orleans musicians overseas, spreading our city's music, but also exposing the artists to experiences outside of the city.
Niece and caretaker Tanya Boutte spoke of the impact Lillian had on the musicians she helped mold, 'The Boss, The Queen. She was in charge of everything, driving, booking, singing. She wanted to cook. She wanted to be the mama. She was everything.'

Boutte is the older sister of singer John, and relative to the many performers in the musical Boutte family. In 2017, WGNO had the chance to talk to family members, who'd moved her back home as she became ill.
Cousin Vance Vaucresson stated at the time, 'Lillian has cared for and has guided and has reached back and brought the next generation in the musical fold. Now she's at a place where many of our seniors, when they get to that place in life where they're now slowing down, retiring, getting ill a little bit earlier than needed.'

MAGA News Anchors Host a Pity Party for the Trump-Musk Split

Republican-aligned news anchors held a wake for Donald Trump and Elon Musk's bromance on Thursday. As the two billionaires feuded over the 'big, beautiful bill' and Trump's associations with Jeffrey Epstein, thoughts and prayers on MAGA networks went out—to both of them. Will Cain was the first Fox News host to cover Musk's tantalizing accusation on Thursday that Trump is named in the government's files on the pedophile, which Musk claimed is the reason why Attorney General Pam Bondi has not released the documents. The bombshell came after the two traded barbs throughout Thursday over the spending package, which Musk opposes. Trump suggested earlier on Thursday that Musk may suffer from 'Trump derangement syndrome' and that Musk had gone 'CRAZY!' Cain said on The Will Cain Show that the saga was 'not a story that we wanted today for America.' 'Seems a rubicon that Elon Musk has crossed that it appears it's hard to see a path forward for these two to repair their relationship,' Cain said. 'This is not a story that anyone was looking for—perhaps somewhat predictable with two big personalities—but not a story that we wanted today for America." The sadness continued on The Five, where panelists Greg Gutfeld and Kayleigh McEnany lamented the breakdown. Gutfeld said the feud was a 'battle between the purists and the pragmatists.' 'I don't like it,' Gutfeld said. 'I want it to stop. I want to tell them, if they are both watching: Knock it off. We're done with this.' McEnany also took issue with Musk's claim that, if he had not donated more than $300 million to help support Trump, Trump would have lost the election. 'President Trump won all of the swing states, he is the first person in the Republican Party to win the popular vote in 20 years,' McEnany said, touting his electoral accomplishments. 'No amount of money bought that. What bought that was a movement.' 'I think it's a sad thing to see,' she added. 'I don't want to see the adults fighting, but I do think this was predictable.' The schism between the U.S. president and the world's richest man rippled among Republicans on Thursday, with many of its media personalities figuring out how to balance Musk's financial contributions to the party with their overwhelming support of Trump. Podcast host Megyn Kelly told fellow conservative podcaster Stu Burguiere before the Epstein accusation on Thursday that she hoped Musk would eventually come around to the 'big, beautiful bill.' Musk has derided the mega bill as a 'disgusting abomination.' 'It's so much better for America, I think, to have Elon on board with the Trump agenda,' Kelly said on Thursday's episode of The Megyn Kelly Show. 'It does not serve us at all to have him supporting Democrats.' But Kelly conceded that Trump likely won't let Musk's claim that his support won Trump the election go. 'There's zero chance Trump's going to let 'you would have lost the election without me' lie,' Kelly said. 'It's about to get ugly,' she added. Trump has not responded to the Epstein accusation, but he tried to brush off the friendship on Truth Social while advocating for the spending package, which the Senate is reviewing. 'I don't mind Elon turning against me, but he should have done so months ago,' Trump wrote.

Everyone Is Making The Same Joke About Unblocking Elon Musk In Order To Follow His Messy Feud With Trump

Well, the day everyone knew was coming — but still can't believe it finally did — has arrived: Elon Musk and Donald Trump have officially had a very messy, messy public breakup. It's chaotic, dramatic, and exactly as petty as you'd expect from two billionaires with fragile egos who have never met a grudge they didn't like. And, honestly, it would be a lot more entertaining if it didn't actually involve real-world stakes for us here in the US. Now, most of this drama is playing out on Musk's X (formerly Twitter), where he has been going full scorched-earth, throwing accusations against Trump, airing out grievances, and responding to the president's posts (reposted from his Truth Social social media platform). Of course, a lot of X/Twitter users have long had Musk blocked on the platform so as not to have his tweets forced boosted onto their feed. But today, a lot of people decided they had no option but to unblock him in order to see how this would all play out. And in true internet fashion, people also started tweeting out jokes about unblocking Musk. So, I decided to round up the funniest "unblocking Elon" tweets, because, well, we all love this mess: Editor's Note: We dive into X so you don't have to scrub your eyeballs afterward. Don Johnson Dishes On Time He Smoked Weed At The White House... And Who Was In Office

Don Johnson has really made himself at home in the White House. During an appearance on 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' on Wednesday, the 'Miami Vice' star revealed that he's been to the Washington D.C. manor during every administration since Jimmy Carter was in office... and that he's even gotten into some hijinks there. The topic came up when Kimmel asked Johnson about his extensive social circle, pulling out a 1975 photo of the actor with Carter and Allman Brothers bandmates Chuck Leavell and Dickey Betts. Asked for some context for the snapshot, where Betts definitely appeared to be smoking something, Johnson had to admit, 'I don't remember that photo, but we were all stoned.' Quickly realizing he may have unintentionally defamed Carter, he corrected himself and said, 'Well, I don't know about him. I don't want to cast any aspersions on the former president. God rest his soul.' Johnson then explained how he was invited to the White House after helping the band set up a concert to support the Democrat's first presidential campaign. Kimmel seemed baffled when the 'Nash Bridges' actor told him that the 'fun' really began while Carter was hosting. 'Nobody has fun there, do they?' he said, before remembering a rumor about Willie Nelson toking it up at the presidential estate. 'Is that the kind of fun you had there?' Kimmel wondered. 'Did you smoke at the White House?' Playfully grimacing and throwing up his hands for a moment, Johnson confessed, 'I don't know how to answer this... Well, yes, I guess I did.' As the audience erupted in applause, the actor said he's been a repeat visitor at the White House and even shared some good times with President George H.W. Bush. Though Johnson made it clear that Bush didn't partake in any of the devil's lettuce, he did reveal the Republican had another weakness. 'He wanted to gamble when we played golf out at Camp David. And so, I took his money,' he smirked. 'I'll tell you something else: He's a trash talker, and he ran into a buzzsaw 'cause so am I.' While Johnson has been chummy with more than a few presidents, back during a 2019 appearance on Kimmel, he told the late night host he wasn't on the best terms with President Donald Trump. Apparently, back in the '80s, the then-real estate mogul made a deal with Johnson to put the name of his Atlantic City hotel 'Trump Castle' on one of the star's racing boats — but Trump didn't keep his end of the deal. 'I took the sponsorship money, he made me make his name bigger, and then he stiffed me on the money,' Johnson dished.
