Abu Dhabi authorities have ordered the administrative closure of MS Food Trading after the establishment violated Law No. (2) of 2008, which governs food safety in the emirate. The decision, issued by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (Adafsa), cites the business as posing a risk to public health.
Reason for Closure
Adafsa officials found that MS Food Trading failed to comply with safety regulations that apply to all businesses handling food, including restaurants, groceries, and trading firms. The violation triggered immediate enforcement action due to the potential threat to consumers.
Under the law, food violations are taken seriously if they involve:
Poisonous or toxic substances
Excessive pesticide residues
Banned food additives
Radioactive contamination
Harmful allergens or veterinary drug residues
Expired or bacteria-contaminated food
Worm-infested items
Cross-contamination during handling
Meat from sick or improperly slaughtered animals
Misleading food labels or adulterated products
Adafsa conducts routine inspections across Abu Dhabi to monitor food-related businesses and enforce food safety standards.
Will the Business Reopen?
The closure is not necessarily permanent. According to Law No. (2) of 2008, the authority may keep the business closed:
Until the owner addresses and corrects the violation, or
Until a final court decision is issued
Reopening can only occur after official approval from Adafsa. The law ensures that no establishment resumes operations unless it meets all safety and compliance requirements.

SATIS-2 project in Thane (E) will be completed by end September, said Sena (UBT) former MP

Thane: The ambitious second Station Area Traffic Improvement Scheme (SATIS) project under the Smart City initiative for Thane (E) will be completed by the end of September, Shiv Sena (UBT) former MP Rajan Vichare informed following an interaction with municipal officials. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "The work on the installation of five girders, each 4.5 metres long for the flyover—a key connector between the East and West sides of the city—was completed, and the 2.2 km long elevated link road over the tracks is nearing completion. This will help reduce traffic congestion around Thane (E) station soon," said Vichare following a project site visit along with officials early this week. Officials added that although the elevated route of the SATIS-2 will be completed in the next two months, operating the road will take a few more months as the work on the elevated bus deck outside the east station side is yet to be completed. "The work on constructing the deck is progressing, and we have set December end as the target for its opening. Unless the deck is completed and connected to the elevated roads and with the railway bridges at the station, the SATIS-2 project cannot be made operational. Once opened, it will reduce the time taken to travel between Teen Haath Naka and Thane station east to barely five minutes," informed a civic official. The project was approved in 2018 and was included under the Smart City scheme. The foundation stone for the SATIS-2 deck was laid on February 19, 2022, and the work has been progressing in phases. A budget of Rs 298 crore was sanctioned— Rs 261 crore for the project and Rs 39 crore for the portion of the bridge running over the railway tracks. Around 59 pillars have been erected on this route, but the installation of girders was delayed due to a lack of follow-up with the railways for obtaining mega blocks, said Vichare.

Russian LNG exports fell 4.5% year-on-year in January-July, data shows

MOSCOW, - Russia's exports of liquefied natural gas in January-July this year declined by 4.5 per cent from a year earlier to 17.1 million metric tons, LSEG preliminary data showed on Friday, reflecting the impact of international sanctions over Ukraine. The United States has imposed sanctions on companies and vessels linked to Russia's new Arctic LNG 2 plant because of the conflict in Ukraine, effectively freezing the project because of the difficulty for Moscow in finding buyers. In July, Russia's LNG exports were down by 5%, year-on-year, at 1.9 million tons, and were 11.2 per cent lower than in June this year, according to LSEG data. Russian LNG exports to Europe in January-July declined by 14.7 per cent year-on-year to 8.7 million tons, while supplies in July in this direction fell by 20.6 per cent to 850,000 tons. Novatek's Yamal LNG plant cut total exports in July by 10.4 per cent year-on-year to 1.29 million tons. In July, deliveries from the plant were at their lowest since December 2023. Since the beginning of the year, exports from Yamal LNG have decreased by 1.8 per cent to 11 million tons year-on-year. In July, two shipments were recorded from the Arctic LNG 2 project. According to LSEG, the tankers remain at sea with a load of 0.14 million tons. Sakhalin-2, controlled by Gazprom, increased exports to 590,000 tons in July from 280,000 tons a year ago. Exports from the project rose to 5.6 million tons year-to-date from 5.2 million in January-July 2024.
