Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan is often seen praising his son Abhishek Bachchan on social media for his performances in films. In a recent post on his blog, Big B expressed his admiration for Abhishek for playing every role with "immense dedication" and called him his "uttaradhikari" (successor). In an interview with ETimes, Abhishek has opened up about the same. Abhishek Bachchan opens up about Amitabh Bachchan's constant praise.
When asked about his feelings on being called the true inheritor of his father, Abhishek said, "I think my father and mother would be proud of anything that I do, provided they know that I've given it my best. People forget he's also a father. For us, Amitabh Bachchan is a hero. So, we never look at it from that lens, but he's also a family man! He's a father, he's a grandfather. For some reason we think, 'Oh no, he's not allowed to be that or be human', but he is. He's also a father, and my mother is also a mother. I'm their child. They're allowed to feel the way every other parent would feel."
Big B took to his blog and wrote, "... and there is immense admiration for Abhishek. 'Mere bete, bete hone se mere uttaradhikari nahi honge; jo mere uttaradhikari honge woh mere bete honge (My sons, just because you are my sons, shall not be my inheritors ... they that shall be my inheritors, shall be my sons)' – Harivansh Rai Bachchan."
He went on to praise Abhishek for playing each role with immense dedication and delivering each character with perfection. He further praised Abhishek's choice of films and said, "'Success comes to those who dare and act'. 'Act' not in reference to acting on stage or film but in life to dare and to act ... Abhishek has ever done that ... he has dared to take on films and characters that challenged him ... and he 'acted' ... he dared to act and be recognised ... my admiration to my inheritor, my son." Abhishek Bachchan's upcoming movie
Abhishek will next be seen in the movie Kaalidhar Laapata. Helmed by Madhumita, the film tells the story of a middle-aged man grappling with memory loss, abandonment, and a lifetime of quiet betrayals. When he overhears his siblings' cruel plan to abandon him at the crowded Maha Kumbh Mela, Kaalidhar decides to disappear on his own terms. Fate intervenes in the form of Ballu (Daivik Bhagela), an outspoken, street-smart 8-year-old who's been surviving solo on India's chaotic streets. The film is scheduled to release on ZEE5 on July 4.

Abhishek Bachchan Reacts To Breakup Rumours With Aishwarya Rai: ‘Even If I Clarify...'

Last Updated: Abhishek Bachchan opens up about online trolling, explains why he avoids clarifying rumours, and talks about protecting his family from false narratives. Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is no stranger to public scrutiny—be it for his professional choices or his personal life. In recent times, speculation around his relationship with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has made headlines, with several reports hinting at trouble in paradise. The couple has remained silent, refusing to comment or fuel the gossip. However, in a recent candid conversation with ETimes, Abhishek opened up about how such persistent misinformation takes a toll—not just on him, but on his entire family. Reflecting on the emotional impact of such rumors, Abhishek admitted that while he once used to brush them off, things have changed now that he has a family to protect. 'Previously, things that were said about me didn't affect me. Today, I have a family, and it's very upsetting," he said. He believes clarifying doesn't help, as those who peddle negativity aren't interested in the truth. 'Even if I clarify something, people will turn it around. Because negative news sells. You're not me. You don't live my life. You're not answerable to the people that I'm answerable to," he explained. Abhishek added that those spreading falsehoods have their own conscience to deal with. 'They need to deal with their conscience and answer to their maker. See, it's not just me. I don't get affected. I know what the rigmarole of this place is. There are families involved," he said, highlighting the emotional burden such negativity imposes. Citing an incident that stuck with him, Abhishek recalled how a troll once left a vile comment on one of his social media posts. His close friend Sikander Kher, deeply offended, responded by publicly sharing his address and daring the troll to say it to his face. Abhishek recounted, 'It's so convenient to sit anonymously behind a computer screen and write the nastiest things. You do realise you're hurting somebody. No matter how thick-skinned they are, it affects them. How would you like it if somebody did that to you?" Challenging online haters to show courage in person, he added, 'If you're going to say it on the internet, I dare you to come say it to me on my face. That person clearly will never have the guts to come and tell me this on my face. If someone comes and tells me things on my face, then I will feel they have conviction. I will respect that." On the work front, Abhishek is gearing up for the release of Kaalidhar Laapata, which premieres on ZEE5 on July 4. In the film, he plays a middle-aged man grappling with betrayal, abandonment, and the existential urge to start over. Co-starring Daivik Bhagela and Zeeshan Ayyub, the film promises a deep dive into human vulnerability and strength. He is also a part of Siddharth Anand's much-hyped action drama King, which stars Shah Rukh Khan alongside Suhana Khan, Abhay Verma, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Saurabh Shukla. Rumors suggest that actors like Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Rani Mukerji may also play key roles in the ensemble. While an official announcement is yet to be made, the film is currently in production and is already among the most anticipated projects of the year. First Published:

Sonakshi Sinha On Nikita Roy Release Delay: 'Nothing New, Happens To Many Films'

Last Updated: Sonakshi Sinha says Nikita Roy's release was postponed to July 18 for a wider audience. She calls the delay common and praises Kajol's film Maa. The much-anticipated supernatural thriller Nikita Roy, starring Sonakshi Sinha, has a new release date. Originally scheduled to hit cinemas on June 27, 2025, the film will now make its theatrical debut on July 18, 2025, as confirmed by the makers earlier this week. Opening up about the sudden shift, Sonakshi Sinha explained the decision was taken in the film's best interest. 'It was in the interest of the film. We want a wider audience," she told ETimes. The initial release date had Nikita Roy slated to clash with Maa, a supernatural drama led by Kajol. Acknowledging the overlap, Sonakshi said, 'Kajol is someone I've looked up to and admired. She's a fantastic actress and a lovely person. It was a coincidence that both our films are in the supernatural space. I am going to watch it. I really enjoyed the trailer and she's looking phenomenal in the film." The Dahaad actress also emphasized that rescheduling a film's release is not unusual in the industry. 'Humse pehle bhi kayi filmien aise push hui hai. Ajay sir's (Devgn) film Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha too was pushed to avoid a clash with Kalki 2898 AD. Films getting pushed is nothing new and I don't think it is a big deal," she added. The makers echoed her sentiments in a formal statement: 'With advice from our well-wishers in the fraternity, distributors, and exhibitors, we have collectively decided to push our release to the 18th of July so that we can reach a wider audience. Thank you for the immense love you have shown for the film so far but you'll have to wait a little longer, and we promise you, 18th July will be worth the wait! See you in theatres." Directed by Kussh Sinha, Sonakshi's brother, Nikita Roy features a gripping ensemble with Paresh Rawal, Arjun Rampal, and Suhail Nayyar playing pivotal roles. With a fresh new date, the team is all set to deliver a cinematic experience steeped in mystery, suspense, and supernatural intrigue. First Published: June 29, 2025, 19:18 IST
