The San Francisco 49ers will enter the 2025 season looking for some redemption. After missing the playoffs entirely last year, the 49ers will be out for blood this season to prove that they still belong at the top of the NFC.
Part of the issues for San Francisco last year were injuries, and it seriously decimated the team. One of those was to star wide reciever Brandon Aiyuk, who suffered a brutal knee injury.
But as the year gets closer, 49ers general manager John Lynch revealed a massive injury update on the star wide-out.
"Brandon's tracking in a good way with his knee, and you've just got to kind of let that play out. We're not going to put him out there until he's ready, but we're excited with our receiver group and where we're at."

49ers rookie LB has already impressed Fred Warner in limited time together at OTAs

49ers rookie LB has already impressed Fred Warner in limited time together at OTAs San Francisco 49ers linebacker Fred Warner is one of the best in the league at what he does, and that's earned him All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors four times in his seven years since the team took him in the third round (No. 70 overall) of the 2018 NFL draft out of BYU. His performance earned him a three-year, $63 million extension with San Francisco this offseason, making him the highest-paid linebacker in NFL history. With that, it's not easy to impress Warner, but rookie linebacker Nick Martin has done just that in the early parts of the 49ers' offseason program. "I've loved everything that Nick's been about since he's arrived," Warner said during a recent media availability. "I heard the whole story about how he said he had my jersey before coming on the team... He's come in and he's asked me every single question known to man, like 'Fred, how are you doing this? What are you doing after practice? What are you doing after lift?' [He] wants to be a part of those things, and [he's not] afraid to ask those questions. "I've seen the athletic ability flash already on the field in the way that he closes space really quickly. He already has the great mindset of wanting to learn, so I'm really happy with where he's at." Martin, 22, was a three-star recruit out of Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, Texas, before committing to Oklahoma State for the 2021 season. With the Cowboys, he appeared in 35 games over four years, recording 203 tackles (24 for a loss), seven sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered. He also earned All-Big 12 honors in 2023. San Francisco selected him in the third round (no. 75 overall) of this year's draft to not only help make up for Dre Greenlaw's departure, but also to fill in for Warner as the team's defensive signal caller, if necessary. Martin is projected to start his rookie year as a starter alongside Warner, and he's already started to prove himself to a player that he clearly grew up admiring on his journey to the pros. He'll have a chance to do that even more as the offseason program continues. More 49ers: Bryce Huff's teammate explains why it 'wasn't a great marriage' with Huff and Eagles

Broncos LB Dre Greenlaw (quad) sidelined at OTAs

After straining his quad while working out this spring, Denver Broncos inside linebacker Dre Greenlaw has been sidelined at organized team activities this week, according to the Denver Post's Luca Evans. Despite not participating in the on-field work, Greenlaw is "still at Denver's facility this week and is around the team," according to Evans. Broncos coach Sean Payton indicated earlier this month that Greenlaw is expected to return in time for training camp later this summer. Advertisement 'He's on schedule," Payton said of Greenlaw's recovery. "I saw the early reports, and you don't know how tempted I get sometimes… But I showed great restraint. He's doing well and will be a full participant in training camp. All of that's doing great, but I refrained.' Greenlaw, 28, signed a three-year, $31.5 million contract with Denver in March. He spent the first six years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, totaling 455 tackles, 3.5 sacks, three interceptions (including a pick-six), two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 64 career games (56 starts). Once healthy, Greenlaw is projected to serve as the Broncos' top inside linebacker in 2025. Related: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. Chiefs' Travis Kelce Receives Taylor Swift Themed Motivation for 2025

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Travis Kelce is coming back for at least one more year with the Kansas City Chiefs during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. After a painful loss in the Super Bowl last year to the Philadelphia Eagles, Kelce simply could not walk away. He has shared that the loss in the big game was one of his main reasons for returning. However, he is also looking to bounce back from a down season. During the 2024 campaign, Kelce caught 97 passes for 823 yards and three touchdowns. His 823 yards were the lowest of his entire 11-year career. Read more: Chiefs' Travis Kelce Disrespected in 2025 Tight End Rankings In a segment on ESPN, "SportsCenter" anchor Hannah Storm provided some Swift themed motivation for Kelce entering what could end up being his final year in the NFL. "Can I just say, he's gotta keep up with his girlfriend, who can do a three-and-a-half-hour concert without skipping a beat. And she does it back-to-back nights," Storm said. Recently, Patrick Mahomes also spoke out about Kelce's future. He doesn't think the star tight end is necessarily done playing after the 2025 season. "If it's the last ride, you would never know," Mahomes said. "The way he's talking about football, the way he's talking about working and trying to be even better this year than he was last year. He doesn't seem like a guy that, it's his last ride or he's tired of the job. He's in here, he's working. I know his body feels good. I think it feels better than even last year before going into last season." Mahomes ended his discussion about Kelce with a warning to the rest of the NFL. "I think he's motivated to go out there and have an even better year." If he can bounce back and have another big-time season and lead Kansas City to another Super Bowl win, his legacy would jump even further. Behind the confident comments from Mahomes and the extra motivation to keep up with his girlfriend, Kelce could be primed for a big-time 2025 season. Everything will kick off for the Chiefs on Friday, Sept. 5 in Brazil against the AFC West rival Los Angeles Chargers. For more Kansas City Chiefs and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
