Shoppers rave over 'cute and stylish' £16 New Look summer dress that comes in 7 colours

Daily Record26-06-2025
With the weather being unpredictable, it is always a safe option to have a summer dress in your closet in case we get hit with another heatwave. While looking stylish, summer dresses also provide the perfect way to keep us cool in the heat.
These dresses are also a staple for the suitcase if shoppers are planning to travel abroad over the next couple of months to take in the tropical air. Normally designed to be lightweight, this dress can be slipped into a bag without taking up too much space.
For those in the market for a new dress, New Look shoppers are currently raving over the Broderie Anglaise V Neck Mini Dress. Normally retailing for £27.99, shoppers can grab certain colours for only £16.79.
Available in seven different colours, shoppers are left spoilt for choice. To get the 40 per cent discount, shoppers can buy either the black, white, blue, bright red or orange dress. However, green and pink options are also available at the slightly higher - but still discounted - price of £20.99.
Crafted from 100 per cent cotton, the summer dress includes a relaxed fit with a flattering V neck, reports Essex Live. Featuring three buttons and an elasticated waist, this stylish dress incorporates embroidery into its design to create a fun and unique look.
Along with a back waist tie so shoppers can tailor the dress to their preferred fit, this mini-length dress is said to be an effortlessly stylish pick for sunny days no matter which colour shoppers choose.
For those wanting something a bit longer, New Look has also reduced the price of their Red Gingham V Neck Midi Dress.
Normally priced at £36.99, shoppers can now grab the dress for slightly cheaper at £33.39. Featuring short, puffed sleeves, this playful dress is also designed with a charming open back and bow tie detail.
Alternatively, Nobody's Child is selling the Kharian Mini Dress with either a navy polka dot or brown floral lace design for £49. Featuring a v neck and short sleeves, this dress gives a relaxed A-line shape that is perfect for warm summer days.
Many shoppers have left rave reviews over New Look's Broderie Anglaise dress, which currently has a four star rating.
One shopper gushed: "Really cute! I'm 5'2 for reference and it's not too long on me, sits well above the knee."
With another shopper writing: "I like the fact that this dress is lined (so it isn't transparent), and that it's cotton. The pattern is pretty and there's a good range of colours and it certainly covers my stomach."
However, they did also add: "The skirt section is very flared, and probably oversized, which some might find unflattering." Another shopper also noted: "Nice but very short length of skirt."
Despite this, another five-star reviewer wrote: "Gorgeous dress, lovely fabric & quality."
A further customer also praised: "Very comfortable and lightweight," with a sixth shopper also saying: "Amazing clothes, so cute and stylish."

Only The Chicest Women Are Wearing This Gingham Jacket - It's Bound To Sell Out

@Instagram/@inesisaias, @nobodyschild There really is no escaping gingham, not even as the weather changes. What began as a somewhat comforting nostalgic memoir to summer terms at school, picnic blankets and Judy Garland's pinafore in The Wizard Of Oz , has now turned into a trend with staying power. This summer, gingham was spotted on, well, everything. From Olivia Rodrigo's archival Ralph Lauren check mini dress, to Uniqlo's sell-out trousers and those boxer shorts, but, rather than disappearing with the last Aperol Spritz of August, gingham looks to be a continuing trend as we head further into autumn/winter 2025. The evidence is everywhere. Take Louis Vuitton's autumn/winter 2025 show, where supersized red and black checks appeared on asymmetric mini dresses, styled with black knee-high socks - a somewhat tongue-in-cheek revival of said schoolyard charm. While designers chose to strip gingham of its naivety, the high street offers noticeably lighter and brighter interpretations, perfect for the upcoming shift in seasons as we enter a cooler September. ©Instagram/@elisaboto, @nobodyschild Nobody's Child, Blue Gingham Swing Jacket The newest jacket to join the Nobody's Child viral hall of fame is its Gingham Swing Jacket. With long sleeves, a preppy collar and button-up front, style the jacket over the top of a knit, or a t-shirt and jeans. It is, however, Nobody's Child I always find myself looking to for standout gingham pieces, and it's the Blue Gingham Swing Jacket that's recently caught my eye, thanks to a flurry of fashion people wearing it at Copenhagen Fashion Week. A style the brand describes as 'the perfect throw-on-and-go layer', its Gingham Swing Jacket features a preppy collar, long sleeves, side pockets and a length that hits just below the hip. If you're on the hunt for ways to style the Nobody's Child gingham jacket, Copenhagen Fashion Week offers inspiration aplenty. Wear yours with clashing prints, like polka dots (which also happen to be a 2025 wardrobe mainstay), or subtle stripes. A simple pair of black capri pants (or pedal pushers) and a white baby tee will also make for an effortlessly cool look. Alternatively, the gingham jacket will work equally as well with a pair of jeans and a neutral knit - whether you're in full maximalist mode or prefer a more pared-back way of dressing, the jacket transitions easily, proving that it's just as relevant in autumn as it was in the summer. ©Instagram/@inesisaias, @nobodyschild Almost like clockwork, each year, Nobody's Child releases another excellent jacket that's made of potential viral material. Last year, it was the Double-Breasted Trench Coat that London's It-girls took a liking to, as it was spotted on both Poppy Delevingne and Anais Gallagher. This year, if Copenhagen Fashion Week is anything to go by (which anyone in the fashion industry will tell you, it absolutely is), then the jacket of the moment will be the Gingham Swing Jacket. It's a design that's not only destined to sell out (and I imagine in record time, too), but it's also one that proves gingham is refusing to hibernate this autumn/winter. Aligne, Nathan Check Quilted Jacket Aligne's gingham jacket offering comes in the form of its Nathan style. Designed with large checks and a goes-with-everything navy colourway, the jacket is a good one for the cooler months as it's thicker than a classic trench. Boden, Knightsbridge Gingham Jacket Boden's take on a collared gingham jacket is equal parts preppy and modern. Featuring retro accents like a back box pleat and sharp collar, style with its matching gingham trousers, or with a mini skirt and knee-high biker boots. Damson Madder, Mercedes Bow Reversible Trench Damson Madder's gingham reversible trench is a style that's previously gone viral - and it's easy to see why. With its multi-pleat detailing, back bow and reversible design, style the gingham way with jeans and ballet flats, or the cream way with a midi skirt and graphic t-shirt. Free People, Chloe Gingham Cotton Jacket Free People's gingham jacket is closer to a quilted jacket than a trench, but that makes it ideal for the cooler weather. With a stand collar and dropped shoulders, pair the laid-back jacket with a pair of baggy trousers and a cap. When not writing, shopping or at Reformer Pilates (a cliché but she's hooked), Gemma will likely be planning her next holiday (and what she's going to wear). New Look trench coat that 'looks more expensive' gets buyers 'lots of compliments'

It has been dubbed "absolutely wonderful" by fashion fans and its perfect for the upcoming autumn weather As fashion enthusiasts shift their focus to autumn, the consensus is that the trench coat is an essential transitional piece. New Look's Stone Double Breasted Trench Coat, retailing at £55, has been receiving rave reviews for its timeless style and luxurious design. The waist-accentuating trench, available in UK sizes six to 20, comes in a classic beige as well as a versatile black. Fashion aficionados have lauded it as 'great value for money ' and claim they've received 'lots of compliments' on the jacket. With a midi length and double-breasted design, the Stone Double Breasted Trench Coat features side slit pockets, making it perfect for everyday wear, from running errands to office days. It also boasts an optional neck button fastening for a stylish funnel design look. You can cinch it at the waist with the provided belt or wear it loose to give a glimpse of your outfit underneath. The beauty of this adaptable jacket is that it pairs just as well with jeans and a light knit as it does with more formal evening attire. The high street find also features cuffs that can be turned up to reveal a chic flash of check print, lending the coat a pricier feel, reports Essex Live. Other trench coats to consider include Next's practical Shower Resistant Trench, available in four colours including a classic sand and a more autumnal burgundy. Retailing at £65, it's ideal for unpredictable weather due to its handy water-resistant material. Also on offer is M&S' Cotton Rich Belted Longline Trench Coat, priced at £79 and available in two shades; beige and black. One customer praised its perfect fit, contributing to its impressive 4.8 star rating from over 300 reviews on the retailer's website. Many satisfied customers of New Look's Stone Double Breasted Trench Coat have left glowing reviews, with one stating: "This coat is absolutely wonderful, highly recommend. "It's lightweight, it feels like it is thick enough yet light enough, the size fits, and it looks great." Another reviewer shared that they had received numerous compliments when wearing the coat, writing: "Great coat, looks more expensive than it is, have had lots of compliments." Fashion deal of the week We might not want to admit it, but summer will soon be coming to an end. That means getting our wardrobe ready for the autumn season, and one affordable jumper from Next is already proving to be quite a hit with fashion fans who say that it has been "beautifully made." The firm is currently offering its Blue Stripe Layered Long Sleeve Collared Gold Detailed Button Jumper with Wool and 100 percent Cotton Shirt for £1.50 in its clearance sale. Described as 'effortlessly stylish', this blue striped number boasts a chic collared shirt underlay and a cosy 'soft touch' knit. The design also includes elegant gold-tone buttons on the shoulder and a neat collar, plus it's easy to care for being machine washable. Available in an array of colours and patterns, it can be bought in regular and petite sizes through X-Small to X-Large, though certain sizes are beginning to sell out. One satisfied customer shared: "I purchased this lovely shirt and jumper combination for a video interview, and I was really pleased with how it looked. "The bright white, soft cotton collar gives it a smart appearance and the jumper is made from a beautifully soft wool." The Blue Stripe Layered Jumper with Wool and Cotton Shirt is available for purchase from Next at a price of £19.50. A third remarked: "Feels warm but fresh at the same time, a bit longer than expected but still very nice and good quality material." Despite the wave of positive feedback for the trench, one customer commented: "It's okay for people who like a baggy fit. Not for me. The material was a bit off too. Price doesn't justify the look of coat." Another shopper appreciated the midi length, noting: "Lovely fit and nice length on me at 5ft 3." The Stone Double Breasted Trench Coat is available for purchase at New Look now. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!
