
PPL to improve infrastructure in Dera Bugti

Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and the Balochistan government have reached an agreement on improving infrastructure, education, and employment opportunities in Dera Bugti.
According to government spokesperson Shahid Rind, PPL will ensure essential services in the area, including scholarships for 50 students each year at Lawrence College and Cadet College Hasan Abdal. Additionally, 14 diploma holders and seven engineers will be recruited annually, while 50 young individuals will receive specialized training for overseas employment.
As part of the agreement, Sui Model City will be supplied with 10 million gallons of clean water daily.
To minimize environmental pollution, the gas flaring site will be relocated 10 kilometres away. The agreement also includes the renovation of government buildings in Dera Bugti and the provision of modern facilities.
Recruitment under PPL will be conducted strictly on merit, with no room for favouritism. The company has also committed to clearing outstanding dues amounting to Rs60 billion.
Shahid Rind condemned the recent attack on coal miners in Shahrag, emphasizing that the government had swiftly taken measures to ensure the dignified transfer of the martyrs' bodies and medical assistance for the injured.
He dismissed allegations regarding ambulance fundraising as baseless and stated that strict monitoring was being implemented to prevent cheating in matriculation examinations.

Two martyred, seven injured in bomb blast in Quetta

The bombing took place at a time when Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was in Quetta to visit the Command and Staff College, the premier military institution of Pakistan Army. The blast came a day after heavily armed terrorists launched a coordinated assault on a bank and the residences of senior government officers in Surab district of Balochistan. 'The attackers looted the bank and set fire to several official residences,' Shahid Rind, a spokesperson for the provincial government, said on Friday. Spokesperson Rind also confirmed that Hidayatullah Buledi, the additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Surab, was martyred while fighting the terrorists.

PPL's MD inaugurates CERDT at UET
LAHORE: MD & CEO, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) Imran Abbasy as Chief Guest, formally inaugurated the Center of Excellence for Research, Development and Training (CERDT) at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Lahore, a landmark initiative funded by PPL under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. With a Rs51.1 million grant by PPL over three years (2022–25), the CERDT is a flagship academia-industry collaboration aimed at strengthening Pakistan's indigenous technical expertise and research ecosystem in the oil and gas sector. Energy, minerals: Pakistan, Turkiye explore collaboration opportunities
ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik held a meeting with Irfan Neziroglu, ambassador of Türkiye to Pakistan, on Friday. The discussions centered enhancing bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, including offshore and onshore exploration, as well as collaboration in critical minerals. During the meeting, Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik expressed profound gratitude for Türkiye's unwavering support to Pakistan during the India-Pakistan. The minister highlighted the immense potential for expanding cooperation in the petroleum and mineral sectors, noting that both countries could benefit from joint ventures, technology transfer, and investment opportunities. He reiterated Pakistan's commitment to fostering a robust partnership with Türkiye in energy and resource development. Turkiye's state owned company Turkish Petroleum Corporation has been provisionally awarded two onshore blocks in the recent bidding round on May 13,2025. One of the awarded blocks is located in Balochistan — Ziarat North, where the JV partners are MariEnergies (33.16 per cent, operator), OGDCL (24.87 per cent), PPL (24.87 per cent), TPOC (10 per cent), and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL) (7.10 per cent). The other successful bid is for the Sukhpur-II block in Sindh, with the following JV structure: Prime (25 per cent, operator), OGDCL (30 per cent), Mari Energies (30 per cent), and TPOC (15 per cent). Moreover, Turkish Petroleum has also executed a Joint Bidding Agreement with a consortium of Pakistan companies (Mari Energies, OGDCL, PPL) for participation in upcoming Offshore Bid Round 2025. Ambassador Neziroglu reaffirmed Türkiye's dedication to strengthening ties with Pakistan across all sectors, particularly energy and mining. He praised Pakistan's efforts in creating a conducive environment for foreign investment and expressed optimism about future collaborations that would drive mutual economic growth.
