However, with no agreement in place, Messi is allowed to speak with any interested club outside of America.
As per reports on L'Equipe, Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli have shown interest in the 38-year-old.
They are keen to bring Messi to Saudi Arabia once his current contract runs out in December. However, financial details of the approach are yet to be revealed.
But Saudi Arabia are reportedly doing everything in their power to bring Messi to the Saudi Pro League.

If the deal materialises, Messi could be seen playing against his eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has recently signed a new contract with Al Nassr. This could prove to be a one last hurrah for the two legends in the twilight of their career.

Where could Lionel Messi end up next year?
Messi moved out of Barcelona in 2023 when he joined Inter Miami in the United States. Back then, he had offers from Saudi Arabia, but he preferred a move to Miami.

He signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the club, which is coming to an end this December.
However, Inter Miami co-owner Jorge Mas sounded very confident in an interaction with ESPN. He said, 'We wish for Messi to finish his career here."
But with recent advances of Al Ahli, it will be interesting to see whether Messi decides to stay in Miami or takes up a new challenge in Saudi Arabia.

Since joining Inter Miami, Messi has scored 33 goals and assisted 22 in just 39 league games.
He scored a brilliant brace in Inter Miami's 4-1 win over Montreal on Sunday, following their round of 16 exit from the Club World Cup.

Blue Jays set for ‘fun' but wild second half after chaotic loss to Athletics

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A huddle of coaches and umpires stood between Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider and third-base umpire Brian Walsh. Already ejected, Schneider pushed forward, hurling words across the field as associate manager DeMarlo Hale grabbed at the back of his shirt. After Schneider exhaled and began his long walk across the Sutter Health Park outfield to the road clubhouse, the manager stopped for one last word under the scorching Sacramento sun. He stood at the outfield wall, waiving his arms to argue against the replay review that found Davis Schneider's fly ball sailed foul. Finally, the Blue Jays manager slid out the open outfield doors and began his All-Star break five innings early. Advertisement 'I think it was kind of smart,' John Schneider joked. 'Getting half the walk done as I was arguing, getting pulled by Carlos (Febles) and DeMarlo. So, got the hard part out of the way.' The manager's midgame ejection was merely one aspect of the chaotic close to Toronto's first half. The 6-3 loss to the Athletics on Sunday featured a minor-league ballpark, a heated ejection and a starting pitcher in the bullpen. It brought the Blue Jays to the All-Star break at a 55-41 record and set the tone for a second-half push in a tense American League East. 'I'll use this break to get my body right and be ready,' Kevin Gausman said, 'for what's going to be a fun but crazy second half.' The Blue Jays' first 96 games of 2025 were unquestionably successful. The club's 55 wins are the franchise's most ever ahead of the break. The MLB schedule is bloated with more first-half contests, but the Jays' first-half winning percentage (.573) remains the organization's highest since 1992. The Jays sit first in the division, but Toronto didn't arrive at that success predictably. The Blue Jays' offence was league average in runs scored in 2023 and drifted to the bottom 10 last year. Now the lineup is the team's strength, as Toronto ranks 11th in runs scored with baseball's best batting average entering Sunday. The Jays survived and flourished despite injuries to Anthony Santander, Andrés Giménez and Daulton Varsho. Role players stepped up to become indispensable. This baseball has also been ejected from today's game. — Toronto Blue Jays (@BlueJays) July 13, 2025 The bullpen that sank the squad in 2024 was reformed while Toronto's rotation stepped back. After carrying the Jays through competitive runs in 2022 and 2023, the starting staff has provided Toronto with the seventh-fewest innings and fourth-worst rotation ERA to start this season. The Blue Jays' five starters aren't an anchor, as the team's first-place record shows, but only two current playoff teams, the Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers, received fewer innings from the rotation in the first half. Gausman is frustrated with his walks, Max Scherzer still navigates thumb troubles, and José Berríos enters the break mentally tired, the righty said. Advertisement 'I've been battling all year long with staying healthy and strong,' Berríos said. 'I feel more tired mentally. But that's part of this game.' Chris Bassitt, who will start Toronto's first game out of the break, sat under the small tin roof in Sutter Health Park's outfield bullpen for the first five innings of Sunday's game. Between innings, the veteran righty stepped into the sun to throw looping balls to Blue Jays outfielders, simulating his long-toss warmup. It's the kind of starter-in-relief move not often seen until October. Bassitt hadn't come out of the bullpen since 2019, but threw a clean inning in the loss to the Athletics. It was part of Toronto's plan to keep Berríos to a shorter outing Sunday and find extra work for Bassitt to prevent a long layoff between starts — just another wrinkle in the bizarre first-half finale. The entire Sunday show came in front of 8,800 fans huddled into a minor-league ballpark in the sixth-biggest city in California. Last year, the Jays entered the All-Star break days away from a deadline fire sale and the start of an insignificant final stretch. Toronto's 2025 second half likely isn't filled with more Bassitt relief appearances or long outfield walks for Schneider. But with the Blue Jays holding the top spot in the American League East, Toronto's final games promise significance. The Jays sit two games above the New York Yankees in the division after Sunday's loss. Toronto is only 5.5 games above fourth place, too. If the Jays' remaining 66 games are anything like Sunday's Sacramento chaos, the Blue Jays are in for a wild ride. 'Excited is kind of an understatement,' Schneider said. 'You know what I mean? I think that it's an exciting time for this team, for this organization, for this city. We can't wait to get back home.' (Photo of John Schneider: Lachlan Cunningham / Getty Images)

Chelsea's Cole Palmer surprised to share Club World Cup podium spotlight with Donald Trump

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — Cole Palmer was jumping up and down behind Reece James as the Chelsea captain received the trophy for the Club World Cup, U.S. President Donald Trump to his left , standing between the midfielder and goalkeeper Robert Sánchez. 'I knew it was going to be here, I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lifted to the trophy, so I was a bit confused,' Palmer said.
