GCDA to acquire land for Tripunithura bus terminal using land pooling model
Kochi:
Greater Cochin Development Authority
(GCDA) is planning to acquire 10 acres for the proposed bus terminal project near Tripunithura Metro station. The project will be piloted using a
land pooling model
.
Earlier, GCDA planned to implement Phase III development of Infopark as a pilot project in the land pooling model. However, technical hurdles delayed the process. The authority now plans to experiment with land pooling through the bus terminal project.
Previously, Tripunithura municipality approached state govt seeking permission to appoint GCDA for the preparation of detailed project report (DPR). However, the decision was delayed for a year. Now, state govt sought the opinion of GCDA, and GCDA sent a letter to govt expressing interest in taking up the project.
"In the preliminary examination, around 10 acres of land is available in the area. We will acquire it using land pooling model," said a GCDA source.

The bus terminal project is one of the major segments of comprehensive transport integration plan recommended by the draft comprehensive mobility plan (CMP) of Kochi. As GCDA is planning to implement the project through land pooling, it is expected that hurdles for
land acquisition
will be removed.
In land pooling, landowners can hand over their land parcels collectively for public projects or infrastructure development. After rearrangement of plots and development of infrastructure, remaining land will be handed over to original owners. Although the owner will get back only 60% of the original land, value of the land will be three to four times more than the original value.

Source: Rockstar Games PlayStation Plus is celebrating its annual "Days of Play" event by including a flagship title to its game roster: the remastered Grand Theft Auto III from the GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition. Beginning June 10, 2025, Premium and Extra level subscribers will be able to download and access this classic open-world game for free. This action allows fans to go back to Liberty City with improved graphics and gameplay on PS4 and PS5 systems. GTA III remastered free for PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra subscribers The star of the Days of Play event is the inclusion of Grand Theft Auto III: The Definitive Edition with PlayStation Plus for Premium and Extra members. As of June 10, gamers get the fully remastered classic for free without any additional charge. The Definitive Edition comes with refreshed visuals, enhanced lighting, and contemporary controls, giving new life to this milestone title that was first released in 2001. This isn't the first time GTA III has seen a run on PlayStation Plus. It was available on the service's catalog for six months in 2021 shortly after the Definitive Edition's initial launch. This was followed by GTA: Vice City in October 2022, furthering the rotation of the trilogy titles through the subscription service. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo The release follows the plan of Sony to keep PlayStation Plus new and interesting to fans amidst the Days of Play celebration. Additional details and community reactions to the GTA III remaster The remastered GTA III will still be offered on PlayStation Plus for roughly six months, probably going off the service in November 2025. This aligns with other Rockstar games on the service, like GTA San Andreas, which went up during last year's Days of Play and went off after a half-year. The Definitive Edition was originally met with widespread criticism when it was first released because of a myriad of bugs and performance problems. Rockstar has put a lot of effort in the last three years patching and enhancing the trilogy, though. A major 2024 update rectified a lot of the big issues, so now is the perfect time for enthusiasts to enjoy remastered Liberty City on PS4 and PS5. Meanwhile, in further news, committed fans have even managed to port GTA III to its originally intended platform, the SEGA Dreamcast, demonstrating the passion of the community for this classic title. PlayStation Plus's Days of Play event offers a great opportunity for both returning and new players to dive into the remastered Grand Theft Auto III. With enhanced visuals and improved gameplay, this release reminds players why Liberty City remains a timeless setting in gaming history. Don't miss your chance to explore this classic on PlayStation Plus starting June 10. Also Read: Rockstar surprises fans with new GTA San Andreas iOS update

India should open way for developing nations: WTO
PARIS: While acknowledging unprecedented disruption of multilateral trading system, WTO chief Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on Tuesday raised the issue of China-backed investment facilitation. While India is opposing this, Okonjo-Iweala wants New Delhi to support the move. "We spoke about issues of reform, about issues that India is interested in, like agriculture and how India needs to be a leader for MC 14 (next year's ministerial meeting)... India needs to open the way for other developing countries, for example, on investment facilitation for development, we want it to support, because so many developing countries, 90 out of the 126, who are members, would like to move with this. But for agriculture, we also need to listen to what India's issues are and try to be as supportive as possible," she said after a meeting with commerce & industry minister Piyush Goyal. India had virtually single-handedly blocked attempts to include investment facilitation as a plurilateral matter under the WTO framework. The comments came ahead of the mini-ministerial meeting of trade ministers later Tuesday. WTO chief said the issue of reform is expected to come up for discussion, at a time when multilateral trading system has been "disrupted in a way it hasn't been before". by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Buy Durable Perforated Stainless Steel Sheets Online – Trusted Suppliers Stainless Steel Sheets | Search ADS Search Now Undo "Sometimes I see challenges as opportunities, and I think this is a very good opportunity for WTO members to look at what are those things that work and should be kept and there are many. For example, three quarters of world goods trade is still taking place on WTO terms, on MFN terms and members want to safeguard that," she said. She said that each member will put their ideas on the table, paving the way for discussions at the next year's ministerial meeting. Piyush Goyal pushes for bigger India-France trade game
PARIS: India can help French businesses become more competitive in manufacturing and tap global markets, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal said on Tuesday, stressing that it could be a shared mission where France and India collaborate closely to strengthen bilateral economic ties. He asked businesses to identify areas of trade where the two sides can help each other in crossing the Rubicon of regulation. "Indian businesses are foxed navigating between the EU regulations and individual regulations in member countries," Goyal said while addressing businesses of India and France. The minister said that the level of trade and investments between the two countries needs to be enhanced, as the current figures does not reflect their true potential. "We've already got a lot of exchange between the two countries on banking and insurance. We could look at seeing how that could be taken to the next level," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo India-France bilateral goods trade in 2024-25 totalled $15.3 billion. "We could look at global capability centres, and we have a fair bit coming in from all across the world to India, to leverage the huge pool of talent and skill there," Goyal said. Live Events He also suggested setting up working groups between businesses of India and France and expanding the frontiers of knowledge and engagement in the emerging area of artificial intelligence. India and the EU are working to accept each other's sensitivities and come out with a fair, equitable and balanced free trade agreement which respects the domestic situation on both sides. Goyal said the aim is also to remove some of the roadblocks, reduce the compliance burden on both sides, make it easier to engage and expand businesses, and have a rapid response mechanism that works to create mutual recognition agreements.
