Ian Callum's Reiminaged Mini Is Our New Favorite Restomod
In a world where bigger is often better, it's nice to see the classic
Mini
continue to thrive. There's a new limited-run restomod available, a collaboration between Callum design, from famed designer
Ian Callum
, and the firm behind the Margrave Mini from the 1960s, Wood and Pickett. And the very first example looks excellent.
The car is based on the Mk5 Sportspack Mini, but features several unique visual touches, such as the completely reimagined lighting housings. It also has a redesigned rear end, unique valances, and bolder wheel arches, which improve the car's aerodynamics and cooling capabilities. It rides on 13-inch Callum-designed alloy wheels with 8.4-inch vented and grooved brake discs.

Powering the car is a "newly rebuilt" 1.3-liter "Stage 3 road/rally engine" good for 100 horsepower, with a retuned ECU and a "reengineered" transmission. The engine features twin-point injection and a "new performance cylinder head," while an upswept twin-exit exhaust system pokes out the back. Keeping things comfortable is a "road-tuned suspension kit."
Inside, the Mini has a new dashboard that takes inspiration from Wood and Picket's Margrave Minis. It includes a row of analog dials, a small screen with
Apple CarPlay
, and a row of physical switches for the lights, hazards, and other vehicle functions.
Each Mini is hand-built and costs £75,000 to start (around $103,000 at today's exchange rate), with no two builds alike. Customers will be able to work closely with the Callum design team to personalize their Mini.

Morgan Stanley's senior analyst Adam Jonas downplayed the ACEA data and reiterated his bullish view on Tesla stock in a research note today. According to him, the company's future value depends more on its robotaxi initiative and less on its overall footprint in electric vehicles at large. TSLA had a successful launch of its robotaxis in Austin on June 22 – and the company's share price will likely surge further as it scales its autonomous operations in the back half of this year, Jonas added. Adam Jonas currently has a $410 price target on Tesla, indicating potential upside of another 25% in the EV stock from here. While Jonas is focusing entirely on the robotaxi launch, other Wall Street analysts seem concerned about the market share that TSLA keeps losing in its core electric vehicles business. According to Barchart, the consensus rating on Tesla stock currently sits at 'Hold' only with the mean target of about $293 indicating potential downside of some 10% from current levels. Veteran paralysed in crash says fate intervened
A reserve sergeant who was paralysed from the chest down in a motorbike crash has said "everything happens for a reason". Sgt George Pas, 50, from Chard in Somerset, served in the British Army as a reservist within the 6 Rifles for more than 14 years. His career was cut short when he broke his spine in eight places and severed his spinal cord after his motorbike collided with a car in July 2011. "I missed my third tour of Afghanistan and a lot of people never came back from that," he said. "I was in a coma with pipes and tubes attached to my body and in my throat, hooked up to various pieces of equipment," he added. He said the active part of his life was "suddenly" over. "I have since been trying desperately to learn to live a much slower and less active life, learning how to cope with the frustration of life in general," he added. Mr Pas has said he believes fate intervened to save his life. He added: "It's better to be living life in a wheelchair than not living, so it's just about perspective really." After his injury, Mr Pas began researching off-road mobility vehicles to regain a sense of adventure and independence. He set his sights on the TerrainHopper Overlander, an off-road wheelchair which costs more than £20,000, and began doing challenges to fundraise. The Army Benevolence Fund, which provides support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families, found out about his efforts and offered to help pay for it.
