Randhawa, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Punjab, who is currently in the national capital for the Monsoon Session of Parliament, said that a person named Parminder Singh from Fatehgarh Churian and a few other party supporters came to meet his son at 10 am on Thursday. An hour after a picture from the meeting was posted online, there was a firing at his son's turban shop. 'But thankfully, no one was injured. I have brought the matter to the notice of the Punjab DGP,' he said.
He alleged that even from inside prison, Bhagwanpuria was threatening people and that one of his associates had also received a threatening call. 'After the firing incident on Thursday evening, one person repeatedly wrote objectionable comments on my son's social media post,' Randhawa added.
He questioned the functioning of the state's law enforcement agencies, asking, 'Where is their intelligence, where is their cyber crime unit? If a common individual posts a status with a gun in hand, they are arrested immediately. But those who are openly threatening others—what action is being taken against them? Threats didn't deter us even during the days of terrorism. We are not afraid. But my concern is: where does the law and order situation in the state stand today?'

'Discussion not deletion': Opposition MPs step up pressure on governmemt to hold debate on SIR
NEW DELHI: With a banner reading 'discussion not deletion', several MPs of the INDIA bloc parties staged a protest in the Parliament House complex on Wednesday against the Election Commission's voter roll revision in Bihar, and demanded its rollback as well as a debate on it in both Houses of Parliament. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra slammed the government, saying "they have become so weak" that neither they are able to face US President Donald Trump nor able to run Parliament. "It is a very simple thing, we are only asking for a discussion (on Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar). It is very easy for them to resolve this within five minutes. They should discuss it, what the harm is? Our view point will come, their view point will come, it will be over," the MP from Wayanad said as she participated in the protest and raised slogans against the government and SIR. Holding banners and posters against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, Shiv Sena (UBT)'s Sanjay Raut, TMC's Mahua Moitra, as well as other opposition MPs raised slogans and demanded a rollback of the SIR as they staged their protest near Parliament's Makar Dwar. This was the eleventh day of their protest with only one day gap in between on Monday when the opposition skipped their protest in view of the demise of former Jharkhand chief minister Shibu Soren. There was a huge banner in front of the protesting MPs which read 'Discussion not deletion'. Another banner carried by the protesting MPs read 'SIR - Silent Invisible Rigging'. With 'Stop SIR' placards along with posters, alleging collusion between the EC and the government, in hand, the MPs of the opposition, including those of the Congress, DMK, TMC, and Left parties, among others, participated in the protest and also carried out a brief march. The opposition has been protesting in both Houses of Parliament against the SIR, alleging the EC's exercise was aimed at "disenfranchising voters" in Bihar ahead of the Assembly elections. They have been demanding a discussion on the issue in both Houses.

Congress to protest at Jantar Mantar over 42% OBC reservations in Telangana
Congress workers, led by Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, along with state ministers, MLAs, and Corporation Chairmen, will stage a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi today over the 42% OBC reservation in Telangana's local bodies. Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy stated that the Congress workers would hold a protest at Jantar Mantar over the 42% OBC reservation in Telangana state local bodies. "Today, MPs of the INDIA alliance have invited everyone to come to protest at Jantar Mantar. Later, we are waiting for the appointment with the President tomorrow to meet her and explain the situation, what we have done in regard to the caste census, how we came to the conclusion of 42% which our leader Rahul Gandhi has promised during Bharat Jodo Yatra," he said. He further stated that the Telangana government conducted an OBC caste census, based on which a bill was passed in the state assembly to provide 42% reservation in the political system, education, and employment. The ordinance, approved in cabinet meetings, is currently awaiting the Governor's approval for submission to the President. "The state of Telangana, under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy and also the ministers, MLAs and Corporation Chairmen, has come to Delhi. They are protesting at the Jantar Mantar in regard to the OBC Caste Census, which was done by the Telangana government, later decided to give 42% reservation in the political system and also in education and employment. Earlier on Monday, Congress MP Mallu Ravi moved an adjournment motion in Lok Sabha, seeking discussion on the 42 per cent OBC reservation in local bodies in Telangana. Ravi said that the Telangana government passed the reservation after a "scientific" caste census, but the Bill is pending the President's assent. "Our CM, whole cabinet, MLAs and MLCs are coming to Delhi to sit for a dharna at Jantar Mantar, putting some pressure on the Government of India to get the clearance from the President of India for these two Bills," Ravi told ANI. The Telangana OBC Reservation Bill aims to increase the quota for OBCs in local body elections to 42%, reflecting the demographic strength and longstanding demand of backwards communities in the state. Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC K Kavitha on Monday launched a 72-hour hunger strike at Dharna Chowk in Hyderabad, demanding urgent clearance of the Telangana OBC Reservation Bill that gives 42% quota for Backwards Classes (BC) in government jobs, educational institutions, and local body elections. Speaking to ANI ahead of her hunger strike, Kavitha accused both the Congress and the BJP of "playing with the destinies of OBCs of Telangana." "We have started our hunger strike for 72 hours demanding that the Telangana OBC Bill, guaranteeing 42% reservations for the OBCs, which is pending with the President, should immediately be given assent. Alternatively, there is also an ordinance pending at the Governor's level; we demand that it be passed immediately. Both Congress and BJP are playing with the destinies of OBCs of Telangana..." she said.

Telangana Congress MPs gear up for Delhi dharna over BC reservations
HYDERABAD: The top brass of the state Congress has landed in Delhi to push for 42 per cent reservations for Backward Classes (BCs). While several Congress leaders, led by AICC state in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, left for the national capital on a special train on Monday, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reached Delhi on Tuesday. Revanth, along with Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and scores of other Congress MPs, will be taking part in a massive dharna to be staged near Jantar Mantar on Wednesday, seeking approval for the Bills, which are aimed at providing 42% reservations to BCs in local body elections as well as in the education and employment sectors. As part of their three-day protest programme, the Congress MPs from Telangana gave the adjournment motion notice in Lok Sabha on Monday to discuss enhancement of BC quota to 42 per cent. As their notice was rejected, they staged a protest demonstration on the premises of Parliament, raising slogans in favour of enhanced BC reservations. On Thursday, the Telangana Congress delegation, led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, is scheduled to meet President Droupadi Murmu, seeking assent to the Bills related to BC reservations.
