Riyadh, Saudi Arabia: Etihad Salam Telecom Company, a leading provider of telecommunications services in Saudi Arabia, and the National Water Company (NWC) today formalized a partnership at LEAP 2025, paving the way for nationwide deployment of cutting-edge connectivity services and ICT solutions. Under the agreement, Salam's will provide core business internet services, licensed infrastructure, and innovative smart solutions.
The strategic partnership will leverage Etihad Salam Telecom Company's connectivity solutions to improve operational efficiencies for more efficient water distribution and predictive maintenance, enhance cybersecurity measures and response protocols, improve customer service through AI assistants and self-service portals, and optimize resource management including water and waste systems. Both partners will build the foundation for digital transformation across the kingdom by enabling cost efficiencies and advanced smart technologies in the water management sector in line with Saudi Arabia's national vision.

The minister explained that project management has become a strategic approach and an essential tool for leading change and achieving sustainable impact, and is no longer an executive option. He noted that the National Projects Council is playing a growing role in unifying efforts and enhancing performance. He added, "Government project management offices contribute to enhancing planning, follow-up, and governance practices, ensuring quality implementation and consistency with national goals." This came during his inauguration of the Global Project Management Forum (GPMF 2025), hosted by the capital, Riyadh. The GPMF is one of the prominent international events in this field, bringing together more than 13,000 specialists and interested parties from at least 100 countries. There will be 120 international speakers, 60 dialogue sessions and 16 training workshops. Saudi Arabia's National Water Company (NWC) is set to award the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract for the Al Suwayriqiyah and Al Aqiliyah Water Networks and Lines, Main Pumping Station, and Substation Project in Mahd governorate in the second quarter of 2025. The project was tendered on 19 February 2025, with bid submissions closing on 25 March 2025. 'The contract is likely to be awarded in May 2025. Completion is scheduled for the third quarter of 2028,' a source aware of the details said, adding that project's cost, by his own estimates, is $220 million. The project scope includes the construction of ductile iron water pipelines with diameters of 200 and 300 mm and a total length of 580 metres, along with associated concrete chambers for control, lock, air, and washing valves. It also involves laying approximately 97.66 km of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) water lines and networks ranging from 110 mm to 400 mm in diameter, including valve rooms, gate lock valves, and fire extinguishers. Additionally, the contract covers the construction of two 500 cubic metres ground storage tanks, two main pumping stations, one subsidiary station, and an Ashiyab station. Saudi Arabia's National Water Company (NWC) is expected to award the contract for the Ranyah Governorate Water Distribution System Expansion Project in Najd second quarter, a source aware of the details told Zawya Projects. The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) tender was issued on 20 March 2025, with bid submissions closing on 20 April. "Contract award is anticipated in June 2025, with project completion targeted for December 2026,' the source said. The project involves expanding the existing water distribution infrastructure through the construction of overhead tanks, main distribution lines, and a new network of pipelines. The system will use high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes ranging from 110 mm to 500 mm in diameter, covering a total length of approximately 158.5 km.
