Srijan conducts online Hindi poetry programme
Visakhapatnam: An online Hindi poetry programme was organised by Srijan, an association dedicated to Hindi literature.
Addressing the gathering, K Anitha said it was the 157th meeting of Srijan.
Moderated by T Mahadev Rao, secretary of the association, the programme saw presentation of poetry by Rajnish Tiwari on sangharsh, Meena Gupta on sainik, L Chiranjiv Rao 'zindagi ki kitab', Madhubala Kushwaha (sangharsh ka sweekaran), SVR Naidu on agniveer nayak) and T Mahadev Rao on 'tatasthata aur chuppi', among others.
After each poetry presentation, those who took part in the programme held online discussions.

After an impressive debut weekend collection, the film maintained a firm footing all through its first week. Now, despite a slight dip in weekday footfalls, the film managed to add to it overall collections, pushing its numbers past the Rs 70 crore mark. According to early estimates shared by trade analyst Sacnilk, 'Kuberaa' earned Rs 2.5 crore on its second Friday (Day 8), taking its total collection to an estimated Rs 71.5 crore. The Telugu version led the earnings with Rs 2.1 crore, with an additional Rs 37 lakh coming in from the Tamil release and Rs 3 lakh earned from the Hindi version. The numbers suggest that while the film's momentum has slowed slightly, its appeal among Telugu audiences remains solid. Robust performance in Telugu states The film ended its first week with an impressive Rs 69 crore total with Rs 48.7 crore from Telugu markets, Rs 18.38 crore from Tamil, Rs 1.72 crore from Hindi, and Rs 20 lakh from Kannada, while the Malayalam version saw no contribution. Mistry Review: Ram Kapoor Impresses As Ex-Cop Battling OCD, Mona Singh Holds Her Own
Last Updated: Mistry Web Series Review: Ram Kapoor stars in the JioHotstar series, a Hindi remake of Monk. He plays Armaan Mistry, an ex-Mumbai Police officer with OCD, solving crimes. Ram Kapoor always finds a reason to make a place for himself in the spotlight. On some days, he hits the news for his jaw-dropping transformation, and during others, his purportedly sexually inappropriate and offensive remarks during events. However, setting his personal life aside, we must admit that Ram Kapoor is a phenomenal actor, and he proves it once again with his latest JioHotstar web series, Mistry. Ram Kapoor lets his work do the talking as Armaan Mistry, an ex-Mumbai Police officer, who solves special cases led by Mona Singh's (ACP Sehmat Siddiqui) team. He can 'smell' the culprits (quite literally) at the crime scene, often leaving his team amazed at his predictability. However, where he falls short (or not) is his battle with OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), a disease that we mostly take lightly or make fun of. Torn between daily crime cases and the death of his wife due to targetted bombing, Mistry's life revolves around solving crime, backed by his secretary, Shikha Talsania. How he deals with crime, while battling his OCD, spans across the eight episodes. Touted to be a crime-comedy, Mistry is the official Hindi remake of the American superhit series, Monk. Ram Kapoor takes on the titular character and does a fantastic job at it. OCD is a psychological problem. How do you convey it on screen so effectively that it leaves the audience with that itch? The credit must go partly to the writers and of course, Ram himself. Every time Ram Kapoor appears on the screen, he is exposed (and disgusted) by the imperfection of the world outside. He is easily distracted by the window blinds while discussing his health, and worries about a possible gas leak at his house as a murder victim lies lifeless in a pool of blood. There's an uneasiness to the character that Ram Kapoor brings out with perfect finesse. While the outside world is a chaotic mess for Mistry, his home, with neatly folded ties and shirts hanging at perfectly equal distances, speaks volumes about his character. In fact, by the end of the series, it is almost hard to imagine Mistry played by anyone else but him. Then there is Mona Singh, who takes on the role of a cop. Female actors playing cops on screen isn't new, but then again, that is the challenge – how do you ensure people remember you? The key is not to let your uniform overpower your character. And who better than Mona to know the tricks of the trade! Oh, and there is a subtle Laal Singh Chadha jibe too. Shikha Talsania is one of the first characters to appear on the screen in Mistry. All she does at the beginning is help Mistry calm down when OCD grapples him from all corners. And you are left wondering why would she opt for a role that just nods with her boss in agreement? Scene by scene, her character unfurls on the screen and before you know it, she becomes one of the most prominent characters of the show. Mistry is also very cleverly made, and we have to give director Rishab Seth the credit where it's due. It's considerably easier to make a point in an action-thriller – there's visible action, something tangible for the audience to see and gauge. But conveying emotional intelligence on screen is a true challenge. For instance, one of the first cases Mistry solves is that of a double murder with links to politics. During a roundtable meeting about the murder, Mistry notices a whiteboard scattered with pins of various colours, marking important business locations. OCD takes over and Ram Kapoor aka Armaan Mistry starts arranging the pins on the whiteboard by their colour and size. The room stops to take notice of the absurdity. A tug of war over the whiteboard causes all the pins to fall off. Furious, someone yells at him asking him to simply do his job, which is, to solve a murder. But Mistry promises them that the pins will be marked exactly where they were and starts doing the job. With each second, everyone in the room gapes in wonderment for Mistry takes the pins back to their original location within seconds of noticing the board in the first place. A prodigy sure, but the makers or Mistry? We'll leave the decision upto you. Mistry has minimal setbacks. At times, the protagonist's OCD tends to overshadow the crime scenes, which might be of greater interest to the audience. As the saying goes, too much of anything isn't good. After establishing the psychological aspect, the makers could have avoided letting it dominate the key crime moments, which were likely more engaging. In the later episodes, it feels as though the creators were intent on highlighting the OCD first, and only then shifting focus to the scene itself – a choice that occasionally comes across as tiresome and unnecessary. But what's life without overlooking the negatives and focusing on the good? Trust us, Mistry will give you such opportunities in bounty. All in all, if you have been rooting for a show that will make you laugh, think and bite your nails at the same time, Mistry is worth every ounce of your valuable weekend time. Diljit Dosanjh REMOVED From Border 2, Ammy Virk To Replace Him?

The film will skip release in India, but is slated for release outside the domestic market, including Pakistan. Amidst all this, film bodies are writing to filmmakers, producers, and actors, urging them to drop him from upcoming Hindi releases – the most recent being Border 2. Reportedly, the actor's casting in the film is on shaky grounds amid mounting requests to remove him from the project. Rumours are rife that popular Punjabi singer-actor Ammy Virk might replace him in the film. A source close to Border 2 production told TOI, 'Diljit has only filmed 3–4 scenes so far. The makers are considering replacing him, as it's still early enough to reshoot those portions without much hassle. The team is handling the situation directly, and Ammy Virk's name has come up during internal discussions." With the controversy gaining momentum, insiders suggest that Ammy Virk has now emerged as the top contender to step in. However, repeated attempts to reach out to the film's producer, Nidhi Dutta, went unanswered at the time of publishing. Representatives for both Diljit and Ammy also declined to comment on the matter. However, according to another piece of information obtained by Hindustan Times, there are no current plans to replace Diljit from Border 2. A highly-placed source close to the production said, 'There is no plan to replace or remove Diljit from Border 2. His casting was confirmed nearly nine months ago, long before the recent unfortunate incidents. Nearly half the film has already been shot, and any replacement at this stage would be logistically unfeasible." FWICE writes a letter to Sunny Deol In their letter to Border 2 lead actor Sunny Deol, FWICE wrote, 'We write to you with the deepest respect and admiration for your longstanding service to both the lndian film industry and the nation. Your portrayal of valiant soldiers and national heroes in iconic films Iike Border, Gadar, and lndian has not only entertained but profoundly inspired generations. Your commitment as a public representative further stands as a testament to your patriotic values and unwavering dedication to the country. It is in this light that we express our grave concern regarding your association with Mr. Diljit Dosanjh. in the forthcoming film Border 2. Mr. Dosanjh's recent professional choice to cast Pakistani actress Hania Aamir-who has openly posted anti-lndia content on her social media platforms, especially in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack-has deeply disturbed the sentiments of our industry and the wider national community." It further read, 'The Pahalgam massacre, where innocent civilians, including children, were mercilessly targeted, has left the nation in mourning. While every lndian stands in solidarity against such acts of terror, the decision by Mr. Dosanjh to collaborate with an artist from the very country that continues to breed such violence reflects a shocking disregard for national sentiment. This act violates the directives issued bythe Ministry of Information & Broadcasting as well as the standing resolutions of FWICE, which clearly oppose working with Pakistani nationals in any capacity. Your esteemed presence in a film titled Border 2, which symbolizes national pride and sacrifice, alongside someone who has chosen professional ambition over pattiotism, sends a conflicting and distressing message to the very public that has always viewed you as a symbol of nationalism." Diljit Dosanjh's response to Sardaarji 3 controversy Diljit Dosanjh recently broke his silence on the controversy and Hania Aamir's casting in the film that was done months before the Pahalgam attack in April. Speaking to BBC Asian Network, the singer said that the project was completed before any of the current political tensions surfaced. 'Jab yeh film bani thi tab situation sab theek tha. We shot this in Feb and then everything was fine. Uske baad, bhut saari badi cheezen humare haath mein nahi hai. Toh producers ne decide kiya ki film obviously ab India toh nahi lagegi, toh overseas release karte hain. Toh producers ka bahut paisa laga hua hai aur jab yeh film bann rahi thi tab aisa kuch tha nahi," he said, adding that the makers are aware they will incur losses. 'Now the situation is not in our hands. So if the producers want to release it abroad, I support them." Meanwhile, the shooting of Border 2 is currently underway in Pune.
