Caesars Palace Times Square to Fund High-Tech EMS Ambucycle™ Program: Innovative Lifesaving Response Model To Dramatically Reduce Emergency Response Times Set to Come to Hell's Kitchen and West Midtown
Hell's Kitchen and Times Square present unique public safety challenges – welcoming more than 300,000 visitors daily, making the area one of the city's most medically complex zones. While New York City's EMS professionals are highly trained and experienced, ambulance response in the area presents several challenges. In cardiac emergencies, a delay of even two minutes can mean the difference between life and death.
With a foundational investment from Caesars Palace Times Square, this initiative will provide rapid-response emergency care through trained EMT volunteers on foot, bikes, and Ambucycles™ – United Hatzalah's A.I. enabled, GPS-tracked, EMS-licensed rapid response vehicles. The program will dispatch trained professionals to stabilize patients before ambulances arrive, reduce the operational load on FDNY EMS, save tax dollars, and build long-term volunteer EMS capacity in NYC. The initiative will aim to reduce emergency response times from over 12 minutes to under 5 minutes, with sub-3-minute response targets during peak hours.
'For the past four years, Caesars Palace Times Square has worked tirelessly to meet with our community and local stakeholders to hear how we can improve the lives of New Yorkers with this once-in-a-lifetime project,' said Brett Herschenfeld, EVP of SL Green. 'During a Town Hall with Manhattan Plaza, we heard about the need for better emergency access on the West Side – and that never left our minds. When we learned about United Hatzalah and their rapid emergency response success in Tel Aviv, we recognized that we could bring this solution to New York for the first time and save lives.'
United Hatzalah is a global leader in volunteer-based emergency medical response, best known for pioneering the world's fastest EMS system in Israel. With a network of over 8,000 trained paramedics and EMTs, United Hatzalah responds to more than 2,200 emergencies daily, achieving average response times of under three minutes, and as fast as 90 seconds in dense urban centers. Their model combines community-based volunteers, micro-mobility responders, and proprietary GPS-enabled dispatch technology to deliver lifesaving care ahead of traditional ambulance arrival.
'Hell's Kitchen and Times Square are some of the most complex medical emergency areas in the world, and United Hatzalah is equipped for the challenge,' said Dovie Maisel CEO of United Hatzalah Innovation. 'We look forward to working with Caesars Palace Times Square to help bring our work to one of New York City's busiest neighborhoods. We are eager to support the city's existing services and get more people the emergency care they need.'
This initiative will supplement New York City's 911 system without replacing or rerouting any existing services and embed Smart AED cabinets and GPS-based dispatch systems across Hell's Kitchen and Times Square. The program is part of Caesar Palace Times Square's broader $250 million public benefit investment, which includes a more than $80 million public safety plan, along with workforce support and health equity initiatives across Times Square and surrounding neighborhoods.

Wenzel Spine Announces Limited U.S. Commercial Launch and First Cases of its Expandable panaSIa™ SI Fusion System
AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Wenzel Spine, Inc., a medical device company pioneering minimally invasive surgical and analytic solutions for spinal disorders, today announced completion of first cases and the U.S. limited commercial launch of its novel panaSIa™ Expandable SI Fusion System. panaSIa is the first expandable sacroiliac (SI) fusion implant cleared by the FDA and represents a major breakthrough in addressing sacroiliac joint dysfunction with enhanced biomechanical stability and procedural efficiency. Designed to be implanted using a posterior, minimally invasive technique, panaSIa provides joint fixation through controlled expansion across the ilium and sacrum, offering immediate mechanical stability while preserving surrounding tissue. The implant's integrated graft chamber allows for post-expansion bone grafting without disengaging instrumentation, facilitating optimal fusion conditions and minimizing procedural complexity. The first U.S. procedures are part of a limited commercial release taking place at select surgical centers ahead of full launch in Q4 2025. 'panaSIa is unlike any SI fusion device currently available,' said Aaron Calodney, MD, a nationally recognized leader in interventional pain medicine. 'The implant expands to eliminate micro-motion, providing immediate stabilization. By slightly distracting the joint space, it may reduce pain by removing contact between the arthritic surfaces. It's simple, elegant, and biomechanically sound—a truly next-generation solution for SI joint fusion.' The panaSIa system expands Wenzel Spine's portfolio of stand-alone expandable fusion technologies and reflects the company's long-term commitment to minimally invasive innovation and surgeon-driven design. 'This launch is a defining milestone for Wenzel Spine,' said William Wilson, CEO of Wenzel Spine. 'Our team has spent nearly two decades perfecting expandable device design, and panaSIa brings that legacy to a new clinical segment. We are proud to offer providers a differentiated, minimally invasive solution that transforms SI joint fusion with precision, control, and speed.' About panaSIa™ SI Fusion System The panaSIa SI Fusion System is a posteriorly placed, expandable implant that transfixes the ilium and sacrum to immobilize the SI joint and promote fusion. It is offered in two sizes allowing for anatomical customization, while its streamlined instrumentation enables true MIS placement. The integrated expansion mechanism and post-expansion graft delivery system simplify the workflow and reduce operative time. panaSIa is available now in limited release and will be widely available in Q4 2025. About Wenzel Spine, Inc. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Wenzel Spine, Inc. is a privately held medical technology company committed to advancing the standard of care for spinal disorders through minimally invasive surgical innovation and data-driven solutions.
