The 54-year-old was rescued from the Indian Ocean but suffered broken bones in his neck and back.
He underwent immediate surgery to ensure that the injuries were not life-changing and it is expected it will be several weeks before he can return to Scotland - and a further few weeks of recuperation once he is home.
Baraclough was boss of Motherwell when they defeated Rangers in the Championship play-off in 2015 and has also bossed Northern Ireland and Sligo Rovers in the Republic of Ireland.
Ian said: 'On behalf of myself, my wife, my children and my wider family I would like to thank the surgeons and staff at the Wellkin Hospital, Mauritius for their exceptional care.
'I would also like to thank Club Chairman Richard Beastall and all of the team at Partick Thistle for their support and well wishes.
'In my short space of time I have already felt the close bond and drive from staff, players, fans and volunteers that make Thistle what it is.
'I'm looking forward to returning as quickly as possible and get back to that unique and special feeling that really marks Thistle out as a football club with a passion to be different and an ambition to succeed.'
'It is one that I am very proud to be a part of.'
Club chairman Richard Beastall described the ordeal for Ian and his new wife just over a week ago as 'harrowing' - but said the outlook looked bright thanks to the excellent medical care.
He said: 'He suffered broken bones in both his neck and back but thankfully the speed in which he was operated on, and the care that was taken pre-operation, has helped the situation significantly.

'Ian has only been at the club for a short time however he has impressed everyone with his professionalism and drive.
'Everyone at The Wyre Stadium at Firhill wishes Ian a quick and full recovery.'
Mr Beastall said head of recruitment Lee Turnball would deputise for Ian as he recovers from the trauma.
He added: ' I thank everyone for rallying together.'
Leicester-born Baraclough was a defender in his playing days and turned out for his hometown team along with Grimsby Town, Lincoln City, Mansfield Town, Notts County, Queens Park Rangers and Scunthorpe United.
He managed Scunthorpe when he returned before moving to the Republic with Sligo Rovers, where he became their most successful manager of all time.
In December 2014, Baraclough was appointed manager of Motherwell and guided the Steelmen to a 6–1 aggregate victory in the Scottish Premiership play-offs against Rangers in a two-legged final at the end of the season.
He then managed Northern Ireland U-21 and the senior team before being appointed at Firhill in April this year.

Rangers exact Jefte transfer profit revealed as Palmeiras deal announced and one more exit nears

Jefte has officially left the club and another fringe man looks set to follow Left-back Jefte has sealed a switch to Palmeiras - and has netted Rangers a bumper profit. ‌ The Brazilian joined the Light Blues from Fluminese last summer for just £600,000 after catching the eye on loan at APOEL. ‌ Record Sport understands a £6.5million payout has been landed for Jefte with the package set to include performance related add-ons and a sell-on clause. ‌ It means that the Ibrox side have turned a £5.9m profit minimum on the player and can look to reinvest a chunk of that in a new starting left-back. He's not the only player leaving either as it's being reported Jose Cifuentes is closing in on a move away of his own. MLS reporter Tom Bogert reports the Ecuador midfielder is on the verge of a loan move to Toronto FC. It's believed the deal is a loan until next summer with a buy option which Toronto can trigger should he prove a success back in MLS. Cifuentes was tipped as a game-changing signing by Michael Beale, who brought him to the club in 2023, but he's struggled to settle and since spent time on loan at Cruzeiro in Brazil and Aris in Greece. Cruiserweight Jake Paul and lightweight Gervonta Davis announce they will fight on Nov. 14

YouTuber-turned-cruiserweight boxer Jake Paul and undefeated WBA lightweight champion Gervonta 'Tank' Davis have agreed to fight on Nov. 14 at Atlanta 's State Farm Arena. Paul's promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, and Netflix announced the highly unusual matchup Wednesday. Netflix will stream the fight worldwide to its more than 300 million subscribers. The 30-year-old Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs), a three-division world champion, would be the first star near his ostensible prime to face Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), the online celebrity who has become one of the world's highest-paid combat sports athletes despite never fighting an elite boxer. Netflix and Nakisa Bidarian, Paul's business partner, did not refer to the fight as an exhibition, but it's unclear how Georgia officials would allow the matchup to be held as a competitive bout, given the fighters' dramatic difference in size and experience. Paul typically weighs more than 200 pounds in the ring, while Davis is a 135-pound champion who has never fought above 140 pounds. The fighters did not announce a contracted weight or the number of rounds in their planned bout. The fight would mark a return to Netflix for the 28-year-old Paul, whose victory last November over the then-58-year-old Mike Tyson drew an estimated 108 million viewers globally. After Paul beat a tepid Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. by decision earlier this summer, he entered the World Boxing Association's cruiserweight rankings at No. 14, making him eligible to fight for world titles. Instead of pursuing a cruiserweight belt, Paul recently discussed a fight with two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua — a more logical opponent in terms of size and strength — but shifted his focus to the popular Davis. who has jousted with Paul on social media for years. Perhaps Paul can look inside his own family for a plan: His older brother, Logan, weighed 189 pounds before fighting Floyd Mayweather at 155 pounds in an eight-round exhibition bout in 2021. Promoters said the spectacle sold more than 1 million pay-per-view buys and made more than $80 million. Davis has been billed by his promoters as 'the modern day Mike Tyson" because of the frequency with which he has won by knockout, but his career and life have been rocky in 2025. He struggled to a shocking draw against Lamont Roach Jr. in his most recent ring outing in March, and he was arrested on a domestic violence charge in Florida last month before the misdemeanor battery case was dropped last week. Bidarian said Paul and Davis are 'favorites of the Gen Z and Gen Alpha audiences,' and that their bout will 'determine the true face of boxing's next generation.' 'This isn't just a fight, it's a spectacle that brings together two of the most electrifying figures in boxing today,' Netflix vice president Brandon Riegg said. ___

Celtic vs Kairat Almaty player ratings: The statue, the dimmed light, one 4/10 and three 5's

Celtic will go into next week's Champions League second-leg playoff with work to do after a resolute Kairat Almaty held them to a surprise 0-0 draw at Parkhead on Wednesday. A toiling performance saw the home side struggle to break down a stubborn and organised Kazakh side, who caused Brendan Rodgers' men problems of their own on the break as they battled to a deserved draw. The Hoops' home support grew frustrated, with chants of 'sack the board' audible in the second half as the Hoops' frontline, in need of extra bodies, struggled to find the desired opener. Celtic will now return to domestic action as they host Livingston this weekend in the Scottish Premiership, before they head to Almaty in Kazakhstan for next week's second leg against Rafael Urakhtin's side on Tuesday, 26 August. Here's how The Scotsman rated the performance of each Celtic player in the 0-0 draw against Kairat Almaty at Parkhead: 1 . Kasper Schmeichel - 6 While the away side had seven shots at goal, none of them hit the target. A largely quiet night at Parkhead, until he was almost lobbed by a cheeky Edmilson lob from distance. Thankfully for the Dane, it sailed over his bar. | SNS Group Photo: SNS Group Photo Sales 2 . Alistair Johnston - 6 Looked to have hurt his hamstring while sprinting, which ended his night early after just 33 minutes. Replaced by Anthony Ralston. | Getty Images Photo Sales 3 . Cameron Carter-Vickers - 6 Dealt with a tricky, physical customer in Edmilson with ease, winning the majority of his duels. Nothing flashy, and did what he needed to do. | PA Photo Sales 4 . Liam Scales - 6 Like his defensive partner, he dealt with what was thrown at him fairly well. Won the most duels (9) in the match, and completed the most passes, little blame could be pointed at either centre-back during an underwhelming performance. | PA Photo Sales
