Four injured, two airlifted after head on collision in Town of Walton
On May 13, Delaware County deputies and investigators responded to a report of a head on collision on State Highway 206 near East Brook Road in the Town of Walton. According to the Sheriff's Office, the information provided at the time of the call indicated that two vehicles collided, and one was over an embankment.
Upon arrival, deputies and EMS provided first aid to the occupants of the vehicles involved in the crash. Three of the occupants safely exited from the vehicles, however, one was heavily entrapped.
An investigation determined that a 2019 Audi A4 operated by 68-year-old Steven Wilson of Irvington was allegedly traveling westbound on State Highway 206 when his vehicle crossed over the double yellow line and collided head on with a 2021 Jeep Cherokee that was operated by 19-year-old Lauren Winans-Houck of Roscoe. Following the collision, the Jeep exited the roadway and traveled over the embankment. The Audi A4 came to rest in the roadway at the point of collision.
A passenger of the Jeep Cherokee was transported to Delaware Valley Hospital and released. Winans-Houck was taken to Wilson Hospital for treatment. It was reported she sustained leg fractures during the collision as well as other injuries.
Wilson and a passenger were both air-lifted from Delaware Valley Hospital to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. The passenger was released after receiving treatment for arm and wrist fractures. Wilson remains at Upstate Medical Center in critical condition due to multiple fractures and internal injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.

‘Jeepers Creepers: Crawlin' for Kids' to support Arkansas foster children
As victim services across the nation face funding cuts, Arkansas' CASA programs are joining forces for a statewide fundraiser that mixes Jeeps, Halloween fun and a powerful cause: advocating for children in foster care. 'Jeepers Creepers: Crawlin' for Kids' will feature a series of events across Arkansas, with a single ticket granting access to all locations. Locally, CASA of the 5th Judicial District will host its event at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Clarksville. The family-friendly event will include a Jeep costume contest, a kids' costume contest, trunk-or-treat, food trucks and vendor booths. 'We are so excited to host this event that's going to be a fun time for families, Jeep enthusiasts and help support our advocacy for children in foster care,' said Genney Baker, executive director of CASA of the 5th Judicial District and organizer of the statewide effort. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of the 5th trains community volunteers to speak up for the best interests of children in foster care, ensuring each child has a consistent, caring adult throughout the court process. Tickets are $40 for Jeep owners participating in the events and include entry to all 'Jeepers Creepers' gatherings statewide. Attendance is free and open to the public. HPD: Body found after fire in Kapolei was not dismembered
HONOLULU (KHON2) — Honolulu police confirm the human remains found after a brush fire in Kapolei on Aug. 19 were not dismembered. Dismembered, burned body found off Kapolei Pkwy. In a previous report, EMS said that the body found was dismembered. However, Honolulu police took to social media to confirm that after an autopsy performed on Aug. 20, the body found was not dismembered, and there is no indication of foul play. HPD continued saying that the case remains classified as an Unattended Death, with the cause and manner of the death still pending. This comes after a body was found after a brush fire burned through a homeless encampment. Police said they were called to Kapolei Parkway just after 2 a.m. Firefighters said they found a small, corrugated structure on fire and that the flames were under control by 2:02 a.m. This is where a body was discovered inside, according to HPD. Shooting in Alexander County leaves one dead, one injured
A shooting on Never Mountain Road in Alexander County on August 20 resulted in the death of Robert Alan Carpenter and injuries to another individual. The incident began as a civil dispute over property boundaries between Carpenter, 65, and Joey Albert Williams, 74, both from Taylorsville. The disagreement escalated into an exchange of gunfire. ALSO READ: 2 killed, 1 hurt in Alexander Co. crash possibly caused by distracted driver, troopers say The Alexander County 911 Communications Center received the initial call reporting a civil dispute at approximately 11:14 a.m. A second call at 11:19 a.m. reported the shooting. Upon arrival, deputies found Carpenter deceased at the scene, while the second individual was treated by EMS and transported to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident due to Williams being a former deputy with the Alexander County Sheriff's Office, having retired in 2009.
