Rashtradeep a shining light in world of Odia journalism: CM Majhi
Attending the 60th anniversary of Rashtradeep, an Odia magazine dedicated to RSS ideology, at Jayadev Bhawan, the chief minister said, 'In the current divisive political climate, a voice like Rashtradeep is crucial in keeping the flame of nationalism alive.'
He said the media's primary role is to create awareness and consciousness in society, and Rashtradeep has been consistently doing so for the past sixty years. The more active the media, the more beneficial it will be for the country and the state.
The chief minister said the media acts as the eyes and ears of society. They should maintain a professional attitude and a sense of responsibility towards society while striving to increase its readership and viewership. He further said that the media reflects what society wants and expects, especially from the government.
The chief minister said that his government is aware of the issues faced by the media and journalists in the state. The government is sensitive to the concerns raised by various journalist organisations and is actively considering ways to address these issues.
Author, thinker and president of India Foundation, a New Delhi based think-tank, Ram Madhav, Rashtradeep president Anup Kumar Bose, Editor Chittaranjan Mahapatra and secretary of Rashtradeep management committee Satyanarayan Mishra, also spoke among others.

Union Cabinet nod to ring road will accelerate Bhubaneswar New City project: CM
Bhubaneswar: The Union Cabinet's approval on Tuesday for the Rs 8,307 crore Capital Region Ring Road has paved the way for early commissioning of the proposed Bhubaneswar New City project, chief minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Wednesday. Speaking to media persons here, Majhi said that the Ring Road will create a larger Capital Region spanning Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, Dhenkanal, Choudwar and Banki, establishing it as a growth centre. Govt sources stated that the concept would be presented to the ministry of housing and urban affairs (MoHUA) under the Urban Challenge Fund. The project envisions a model city that is inclusive, vibrant and resilient, designed to optimise land value and achieve international branding. In the Union Budget 2025-26, the Centre has allocated Rs 10,000 crore to the Urban Challenge Fund to implement proposals for 'Cities as Growth Hubs', 'Creative Redevelopment of Cities' and 'Water and Sanitation'. The fund will finance up to 25% of the cost of bankable projects. Odisha hopes to secure funding for the new city project from the same. In Jan, Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and a global real estate consultancy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the new city project. As per the MoU, the consultancy will prepare a master plan and recommend the most suitable product mix to BDA for the project's development. The new city project is one of Odisha's most ambitious urban development initiatives, designed to reshape the capital's future with global collaboration, strategic planning and inclusive infrastructure. "It is a landmark step for Odisha to shape a world-class urban centre, reflecting inclusivity, sustainability and resilience for future generations," Padhee said. The new city is planned on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, including areas such as Malipada, Daspur and Gothapatna. It is envisioned as an inclusive, sustainable and resilient city with solar infrastructure and the capacity to house two lakh residents. With an estimated Rs 8,200 crore projected investment, the govt hopes to secure funding from multiple sources such as the MoHUA, private investors and external lenders like the Asian Development Bank.
