Aamir Khan's Father Would Slap Him Hard, Leave Marks On Face: 'It'd Be Very Embarrassing'
Last Updated:
Aamir Khan's father would hit him with the back of his hand, and his ring would get imprinted on the actor's face.
Aamir Khan, often called 'Mr. Perfectionist," had a complex, transformative relationship with his parents, marked by strict discipline, financial instability, yet deep familial bonds. Aamir is the son of producer-director Tahir Hussain and homemaker Zeenat Hussain. Aamir often talks about his mother as a gentle, supportive figure, always encouraging. Conversely, his relationship with his father was more combative.
In a chat shared on the YouTube channel of Zee Music Company, Aamir mentioned that his mother has always been an empathetic and sensitive figure in his life. 'I have never heard my mother raise her voice. Me and Faisal (his brother) would have a lot of fun as kids, so she would just say, 'Aamir, aap aisa karenge? (Aamir, will you do this?)' This was the maximum that she would scold us," he said.
However, his dynamic with his father was the opposite. He recalled, 'My father and my mother were very different personalities. Faisal and I would get prints of his hand on our faces. We would get slapped with the back of his hand; he used to wear a ring, and that ring would leave a mark on our face. So the next day, when we would go to school, it would be very embarrassing."
Aamir Khan didn't have a close relationship with his father. In a 2007 custody battle (for his brother) and disputes over business decisions, Aamir distanced himself from his father, further straining their relationship. However, they eventually reconciled.
Tahir Hussain passed away on February 2, 2010, in Mumbai due to a massive heart attack. Aamir was abroad when he received the news and returned immediately, sharing memories and expressions of deep respect on social media in the years that followed. Their relationship—marked by conflict, compliance, and eventual reconciliation—helped form Aamir's grounded persona. Today, he often reflects on his career choices with introspection, having recognised the sacrifices his mother and children made, and the toll his ambitions took on those bonds.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Aamir Khan will next be seen in Sitaare Zameen Par. It is a spiritual sequel to Aamir Khan's 2007 film, Taare Zameen Par. The movie stars Aamir Khan alongside Genelia Deshmukh. It is a remake of the Spanish film Campeones. The film marks the Hindi cinema debut of Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
In the film, Aamir Khan plays Gulshan, an assistant coach of a prominent basketball team. After losing his job, he had to choose jail or serve 90 days of community service as the coach of a team comprising specially-abled basketball players. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is scheduled for release on June 20, and anticipation is running high as the date approaches.

Aamir Khan On Andaz Apna Apna 2 With Salman: 'Santoshi Is Writing, But Too Early To Confirm'
Last Updated: Aamir Khan says Rajkumar Santoshi is writing Andaz Apna Apna 2, but he and Salman will only return if they love the script. No greenlight yet. Aamir Khan has finally broken his silence on Andaz Apna Apna 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1994 cult classic that starred him alongside Salman Khan. While the buzz around a possible reunion has excited fans for years, Aamir has now clarified where things currently stand and it's far from confirmed. In a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama, Aamir said that director Rajkumar Santoshi is indeed working on the script, but the project is still in the very early stages. The actor emphasised that both he and Salman would only move ahead with the film once they're absolutely convinced by the story. 'I really believe that scripts have to come out organically. So Raj Santoshi is working on a version of Andaz Apna Apna 2, but it's too early for me to say that it's being made, because until the script is ready and both Salman and I don't love what he narrates and we say yes — until then, the film actually won't be greenlit," Aamir said. 'So right now, it's in very early stages. But let's all hope that he comes up with a good script. We're all hoping." Aamir had previously spoken about the sequel earlier this year. However, his comments were met with concern by the children of the late Vinay Kumar Sinha, who produced the original film. They clarified that Aamir was never a producer on the original and said they would not be selling the rights to either Aamir or Rajkumar Santoshi. They stated, 'Aamir was never a producer (of the film), he was just an actor. We will never sell the rights to him or Rajkumar Santoshi. Yes, Aamir said that Rajkumar Santoshi is writing Andaz Apna Apna 2, and we are very excited about it. But I do want to tell you that in our father's lifetime, for the longest time, Raj ji and Dad kept meeting and talking about a sequel." Whether the sequel materialises or not, one thing's for sure: fans of the original continue to wait with bated breath for Amar and Prem to return to the big screen. First Published:

Sitaare Zameen Par Advance Booking: Aamir Khan starrer sells 46,000 tickets in National Chains, looks at Rs 8 crore opening
Aamir Khan's much-awaited movie Sitaare Zameen Par is finally hitting cinemas in a couple of hours. The sports comedy drama, directed by RS Prasanna, recorded an average advance booking despite Khan's aggressive promotions. Sitaare Zameen Par sells 46,000 tickets in top national chains Bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par sold over 46,000 tickets in the top three national chains- PVR Inox and Cinepolis- for the opening day. Of this, a significant chunk of admissions were recorded at PVR Inox, while the remaining were sold at Cinepolis. It must be noted that these are estimated figures. As Sitaare Zameen Par is an Aamir Khan movie, the advance booking doesn't justify his stardom. However, one must note that the slice-of-life sports comedy genre is not much viable in the post-pandemic times, which means the fate of Sitaare Zameen Par will depend on its word-of-mouth. Sitaare Zameen Par targets Rs 8 crore opening Looking at the advance sales and buzz around the movie, the Aamir Khan starrer is expected to open with just Rs 8 crore net. It will be one of the lowest Aamir Khan openers in recent times. Though the film is marketed as a spiritual sequel to Taare Zameen Par, it couldn't strike a chord with the audience with its promotional assets. Nevertheless, if the movie succeeds in impressing the audience, Sitaare Zameen Par will see an instant boost in its collections. Though the movie might start on a low note, it has the potential to jump over the weekend and sail through a successful theatrical run. It will be interesting to see how the sports drama performs at the box office. The movie marks the return of Aamir Khan to the screens after Laal Singh Chaddha, which was a box office debacle. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates.
