TPCC chief asks cadre to intensify ‘Vote Chor, Gaddi Chod' campaign
HYDERABAD: TPCC chief B Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday directed his party cadre to intensify the 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chod' campaign launched by AICC leader Rahul Gandhi. He urged the cadre to take out statewide rallies to expose irregularities in electoral rolls ahead of Independence Day. The TPCC chief, along with AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan, held a video conference with the DCC presidents. The conference was also attended by ministers Ponnam Prabhakar and Adluri Laxman Kumar. He said that the 'Vote Chor, Gaddi Chod' campaign will be carried out in three stages, starting with a candlelight rally on August 14. He said that elected representatives at all levels should participate in the protest to be held between August 22 to September 7 to expose the 'BJP-ECI collusion'. He said that there will be a national-level campaign from September 15 to October 15. The TPCC chief also directed the DCC chiefs to appoint village-, mandal-level committees. He also requested the party leaders to actively engage in rain relief- related activities.

BRS leader Harish urges Uttam to turn on KLIS motors immediately to fill reservoirs
SIDDIPET: BRS leader and former minister T Harish Rao on Wednesday urged Irrigation Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy to ensure that the Kaleshwaram motors are turned on immediately to fill the various reservoirs in the state. In a letter addressed to Uttam, the former irrigation minister said that the farmers of Telangana were in deep distress as they are unable to proceed with cultivation due to lack of water. 'Turn on the motors at Package-6 of the Kaleshwaram project and begin pumping water to fill reservoirs like Mid Manair, Annapurna, Ranganayakasagar, Mallannasagar, Kondapochammasagar and Baswapur. This is crucial for taking up cultivation by farmers in the command area of approximately five lakh acres,' he said. 'The farming community is waiting for irrigation water for Kharif season,' Harish said while adding that there should be no further delay in pumping water to the reservoirs. The Siddipet legislator also asked Uttam to take advantage of recent rains in the upper regions by turning on the Kaleshwaram pumps to start pumping water for the benefit of farmers.

In Andhra Local Body By-Poll, Jagan Reddy's Big Defeat In Family Stronghold
Hyderabad: Jagan Mohan Reddy 's YSR Congress Party was routed in the Pulivendula zilla parishad territorial constituency, or ZPTC, by-poll Thursday. The ex-Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's candidate, Hemanth Reddy, was thumped by the ruling Telugu Desam Party's Latha Reddy by 6,035 votes. The YSRCP candidate, in fact, secured fewer than 700 votes and lost his election deposit. This is the first time in nearly three decades that an election was held for the Pulivendula ZPTC seat, which had previously been won unopposed by YSRCP candidates. The TDP has celebrated the win as Pulivendula celebrating "independence, just a day before Independence Day". A delighted S Savitha, the Minister for Backward Classes Welfare, also put Jagan Reddy on notice, declaring the TDP will win his family stronghold in the 2029 Assembly election. The defeat has been made worse because the Pulivendula ZPTC falls within the Assembly constituency of the same name, which is a stronghold of the Chief Minister and his family. Mr Reddy has held the Pulivendula Assembly seat since 2014. Before that it was held by his father, YS Rajasekhara Reddy; his mother, YS Vijayammma; and other members of the family, including his uncle Y. S. Purushothama Reddy.
