A Leaving Cert student (18) has died after the car she was driving hit a wall and entered a river in
Co Tipperary
this morning.
The incident happened shortly after midnight in the townland of Kilmoyler, Co Tipperary.
Gardaí
along with a sub-aqua team and Tipperary Fire and Rescue were alerted after the student failed to return to her home in Clonmel.
It is understood the car hit a low wall and was flipped into the Aherlow river.

The Ford Fiesta was discovered in the river in the early hours of the morning. A garda sub aqua team located the 18 year old and her body was recovered from the river at 4.45am.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was taken to Tipperary University Hospital (TUH) where a postmortem will be carried out.
The alarm was raised by the teenager's family when she failed to return home from a Leaving Cert study group in her boyfriend's home.
Members of the study group were able to track her journey on an app and located where her car had stopped travelling.
The road from the Lady Gregory Pub on the N24 Cahir – Bansha Road to Kilmoyler remains closed to allow for a technical examination by gardaí.
Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses close to the area to contact them at Cahir Garda station on 052-7445630.

He would often 'disappear' on a mountain walk with his dog Mollie 'and whichever other dogs he had taken under his wing'. 'When we lived on Inishmore, Kev had a bad encounter with a dog and was bitten in the face… but he loved dogs,' she said. "That's one thing we can all learn from Kevin, the ability to let go and move on. Kev never took life too seriously and was quick to forgive and, for the most part, forget – but you wouldn't fool him twice, he was much too smart for that.' He had a 'protective streak' for his sisters as he had 'such a big heart for all those he loved'. Mr Kelly left school before completing his Leaving Cert and after 'a little big of wandering' found the Galway-based dog rescue and adoption charity Madra. 'It was love at first sight in more ways than one. Kevin's time at Madra completely changed his life. It was where his love of dogs was truly discovered,' she said. It was also where he met his partner Sheree, with his sister describing the couple as "made for each other'. "We've all lost someone today, a son, a brother, a partner, a friend, a rock. He was so many things to so many people and we always will share that grief,' she added. "If you find yourself missing Kev – as I'm sure you will – in the coming days, weeks, months and years. Here are some things you can do to feel close to him: Take a trip to Connemara, find a hill and climb it. "While you're there, go on over to Madra and volunteer to walk some dogs and walk the same route that Kev walked day in, day out, for years.' Mourners were also told to take pictures and 'capture your moments with your loved ones' as Mr Kelly was described as someone who would 'go above and beyond' for those in his life and would 'do anything he could for anybody'. Mourners heard how Mr Kelly was 'a joy and a gift to our lives', with a collection of photographs of Mr Kelly and his friends, family and dogs shared during the service. Mr Kelly was a dedicated volunteer with Madra from the age of nineteen, with the charity this week describing his love of dogs and his beloved pitbull Mollie as a 'huge driving force for him'. He has been remembered for his 'big smile and kindness' and as someone who was 'absolutely magical' with dogs. Ex-Manchester United player Brandon Williams given suspended sentence over crash
Williams, 24, was spotted driving at high speeds and in an erratic manner in an Audi A3 on the A34 near Handforth, Cheshire, on August 20 2023. His vehicle collided with a Ford Fiesta before crashing into the central reservation. Williams was on loan at Ipswich Town at the time of incident. Last June, Manchester United announced he would leave the club at the end of his contract. In March, he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and having no insurance. On Friday, at Chester Crown Court, he was sentenced to a 14-month jail term, suspended for two years. Recorder Eric Lamb also banned him from driving for three years and ordered he must undertake 180 hours of unpaid work as part of a community order. A female motorist travelling behind Williams on the dual carriageway shortly before 6pm thought he was not in control of his vehicle, which was braking heavily and dropping back to leave a small gap, the court heard. Max Saffman, prosecuting, said the woman noticed the driver and a female passenger appeared to have yellow balloons in their mouths, and she was 'scared' they would collide with her vehicle. The Audi overtook and swerved in front of her, in what she said was a 'needless manoeuvre'. ADVERTISEMENT Williams then repeated the same behaviour as he drove up to a Ford Fiesta driven by Clare Smith, the court was told, but as he pulled out to overtake he hit the rear of her vehicle and then careered into the central reservation. Both vehicles were extensively damaged. In victim personal statements Ms Smith and her two female passengers all described Williams's driving as 'too fast and erratic'. One said she thought she was going to be killed. They sustained various physical injuries, including whiplash and bruising, and all had suffered a psychological impact. The court was told that Williams's 'prolonged episode' of dangerous driving took place over five miles and, although he was not under the influence of Class C drug nitrous oxide at the time, he had assisted his front-seat passenger to use her balloon. Collision investigators concluded that Williams was driving at 99mph on the 70mph limit road just four seconds before the crash.
