He has even been dubbed the next Mike Tyson - who became the youngest heavyweight champion of all time aged 20.
Finding willing opponents to put their reputation on the line against the youngster from London has proved to be Itauma's toughest fight so far.
But stepping up this Saturday in Scotland on Josh Taylor's undercard is southpaw Balogun.
The 6ft 1in American first made his name in the NFL, playing for the likes of the San Francisco 49ers, the Buffalo Bills and the Dallas Cowboys.

But his career as a linebacker came to an end in 2012 - by that time he had already trained in boxing as part of his American football regime.
It was only after being released by the Virginia Destroyers that Balogun decided to cross over to professional boxing.
He made his debut in 2014 and his career transformation was underway.
Balogun's biggest win to date came in 2021 when he knocked out Trey Lippe Morrison - son of the late former world champion Tommy.

Meanwhile Martin Bakole, 31, and Filip Hrgovic, 32, are two others on Itauma's radar.
Warren told BoxNation: 'Billy Nelson (trainer of Bakole) sent me a text about him making the fight at the end of the year or next year.
'Moses is not sitting around waiting for him, is he? He's gonna get on with his business and who knows, I would expect by the end of this year for Moses to have at least another three fights.
"I haven't got to drum up Bakole in my job, I'm in the Moses Itauma business and that's all I care about.

'I think that's [Itauma and Hrgovic] also a good fight to make. I wouldn't have a problem doing that sometime this year.'

Cindy had been a big support to the former Tottenham star as he opened up on his traumatic childhood in 2023. She also showed her support for the former England international after he made the move to Serie A side Como in January. Five ways Liverpool could line up after epic transfer window, including Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola & Alexander Isak

Scroll down to see which surprise name could be a regular next season FIVE LIVE Five ways Liverpool could line up after epic transfer window, including Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola & Alexander Isak Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) LIVERPOOL could have a new-look attack next season with a potential £300million spending spree this summer. Jeremie Frimpong has already arrived and Florian Wirtz is set to be the next through the door - for a British record fee of £127m. That interest could fade if Newcastle refuse to budge from their £150m asking price, but Liverpool have alternative targets. One of those is Paris Saint-Germain forward Bradley Barcola, who has also attracted interest from Bayern Munich. Arne Slot could complete his summer splurge by bringing in Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez. READ MORE IN FOOTBALL FRENCH CONNECTION Utd star Rashford spotted with mystery woman on St Tropez break Kerkez is valued at £40m and Liverpool have opened talks over his transfer, but if the two clubs fail to agree a fee then Andy Robertson will likely continue in the left-back berth. Here are the ways Liverpool could line up in the Premier League next season. Option one 8 Slot's dream line-up would be the inclusion of two new full-backs to freshen up the defence. Frimpong and Kerkez would also add plenty going forward, supporting the likes of Barcola and Mo Salah in attack. BEST FREE BETS AND BETTING SIGN UP OFFERS If Isak proves too expensive Cody Gakpo will likely be trusted to lead the line, with Wirtz operating in the space behind the Dutchman, linking play between both flanks. Option two 8 Liverpool fans sharing bizarre Donald Trump clip as Reds close in on £125million Florian Wirtz transfer Alternatively, if Liverpool do pull off one of the signings of the summer in Isak he will be one of the first names on the teamsheet. That would likely rule out a move for Barcola, meaning Wirtz or Luis Diaz could line up at left wing. It could also mean Slot decides to continue with the midfield three that served his team so well next season, allowing the attack the freedom to score and produce goals. Option three 8 Frimpong's arrival gives Slot multiple options on the right flank thanks to his flexibility. He operated mostly as a right wing-back at Bayer Leverkusen, contributing 30 goals and 44 assists in 190 appearances. That attacking quality could see him play further forward at Anfield if Slot fancies giving Conor Bradley more game time. Frimpong at right wing could also reduce Salah's workload, with the Egyptian operating through the middle instead. Option four 8 There could be more opportunities for fringe players to stake their claim next season. Caoimhin Kelleher's exit to Brentford means Giorgi Mamardashvili is now Liverpool's No2. The Georgian signed last summer but spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Valencia, impressing between the sticks. Joe Gomez could also be in line for more minutes next season but he would have to find consistency in his fitness - something which has deserted him throughout his Anfield stay. Option five 8 Jarell Quansah will also be hoping to build on his breakthrough season, which was rather stunted by the fact he started just four Prem matches last season. No Isak could mean Diogo Jota continues in attack, fitness permitting, with Barcola perhaps the only addition to the front three.

Anthony Joshua warned to avoid one opponent for comeback - 'He'd be flattened'

Anthony Joshua has not fought since he was wiped out by Daniel Dubois last September - but is eyeing a return to the ring later this year Carl Froch has told Anthony Joshua to avoid a rematch with Daniel Dubois like the plague. Joshua was knocked out in devastating fashion by his fellow Brit at Wembley last September as Dubois retained his heavyweight world title with a fifth-round stoppage. Joshua turned down the opportunity to immediately avenge his defeat and recently had surgery on his elbow which has delayed his return to the gym. ‌ Dubois will fight for the first time since last autumn when he rematches Oleksandr Usyk at the national stadium next month as he attempts to avenge his stoppage defeat by the Ukrainian two years ago. Joshua, meanwhile, is targeting a return later this year - potentially against Tyson Fury if his fellow Brit reverses his decision to retire. ‌ And Joshua has been advised to forget any desire he has to run back his clash with Dubois. 'Another fight with Daniel Dubois, forget it, Daniel Dubois, f***ing flattens him again," Froch said on his YouTube channel. "He can't beat Daniel Dubois, he will be frightened to death of getting hit on the chin, and when he does, he will be rendered unconscious again." Joshua has been coy about his next fight as Fury continues to insist he will remain retired having hung up his gloves in January following his second successive defeat by Usyk. Joshua has also been linked with a rematch with Dillian Whyte but he may instead take on rising star Moses Itauma in August. And Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed the Olympic champion could hang up his gloves as soon as next year. Hearn believes taking on long-term rival Fury is the one thing left for Joshua to do before calling it a day. 'Probably 2026 will be his last year in the sport,' Hearn said on The Ariel Helwani Show. 'I mean you never know, but thinking about it, it's probably three fights away. If I'm advising AJ I'm thinking, 'We're back this year, two Tyson Fury fights, what else is there to do?'. He maybe could fight a Daniel Dubois, but I think for me, once AJ fights a Tyson Fury, he's kind of done it all. 'I'd love him to have another crack at Dubois, I'd love him to have another crack at (Oleksandr) Usyk. If we get to 2026 and he's firing on all cylinders then 2026 won't be his last year. But for me, something feels right about beating Tyson Fury twice and then sailing off into the sunset.'
