Little Rock nonprofit moves forward with permanent shelter for homeless

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – After years of searching, The Van — a nonprofit that supports people experiencing homelessness — is now under contract for a new building that will serve as a permanent emergency shelter. The announcement comes after two previous attempts fell through. The most recent search ended in July 2025, and the first in December 2024, when founder Aaron Reddin learned the property he was pursuing did not have legitimate owners. People donate over $50,000 overnight to The Van to help with homeless shelters in Central Arkansas Reddin said the need for shelter in Little Rock is urgent, with thousands of people living without a roof over their heads. 'Everything closes. Everything shuts down. There's nowhere to go,' Reddin said. 'This past year, we saw seven amputations from frostbite.' The shelter marks a major expansion from The Van's current mobile outreach model, which provides food, water, and hygiene products. The new facility will offer showers, bathrooms, cots and a place to eat. Reddin said the goal is to provide a safe space where people can come in 'no matter the weather' and take a break from the streets. 'It's going to be comfortable,' he said. 'It's not going to be this sterile, institutionalized place. I want people to come in and feel comfortable. Take a load off. Take a deep breath.' The chosen property met several requirements: it is located outside city limits for better access, has multiple entry points in case of traffic and includes a working sewer system. The shelter is expected to open in November. The Van has raised more than $350,000 toward its fundraising goal. The Van announces partnership with city of Little Rock to open winter shelter In the meantime, the group's most-needed donations are men's clothing — especially pants, shoes, belts, and socks. Taylor Swift opens up about 1st date with Travis Kelce and his 'wild romantic gesture'

The duo appeared together on the "New Heights" podcast on Wednesday. 2:00 Taylor Swift's meet cute with Travis Kelce may have been something she manifested all along. During her podcast debut on the "New Heights" show on Wednesday, the singer opened up about what it was like meeting her boyfriend for the first time. "It was such a wild romantic gesture," she said about Kelce's attempt to give the Grammy winner his friendship bracelet. Many may recall from a previous episode that the Kansas City Chiefs star tried to give the singer a friendship bracelet with his number on it before they eventually met, but the plan fell through. Swift said the attempt "felt more like I was in an '80s John Hughes movie and he was like standing outside of my window with a boombox, just being like, 'I wanna date you!'" She continued, "I was like, if this guy isn't crazy, which is a big if, this is sort of what I have been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager." Kelce replied and said that Swift's music at the Eras Tour spoke to him and said, "I know exactly what she wants me to do." While the friendship bracelet scheme didn't turn out the way Travis Kelce had hoped for, Swift said it all worked out eventually. She also thanked "New Heights" for bringing her to Kelce. "This podcast has done a lot for me. I owe a lot to this podcast," she said. What sealed the deal for Taylor Swift? In the podcast, Swift said Travis Kelce "is a good kind of crazy." She said during their first initial conversations, the football star was attentive. "He's truly getting to know me in a way that's very natural, very pure, very normal. Also just the way that he could make me laugh so immediately about normal things," Swift said about their first date. She added, "He's just a vibe booster in everyone's life that he's in. He's like a human exclamation point." The "Lover" singer also told Travis Kelce that he is "non-judgmental about people and was not judgmental about the world that you're in." What embarrassing question did Taylor ask on her 1st date with Travis? Swift admitted that before meeting Travis Kelce, she didn't know a lot about football. During their first date, she asked Travis Kelce a question about the moment he played the Eagles during the Super Bowl. "I legitimately asked him what it was like when the Chiefs played the Eagles in the Super Bowl and he looked across the field, across the line of scrimmage and saw his brother standing on the other five feet in front of him on the field," she said. She continued, "He was like 'he didn't even look at me.' I now know what an insane question that was. He was like, 'actually I'm on the offense and my brother's on the offense, and I'm only on the field at the same time as the defense.'" "I thought everyone was on there at the same time," she added. Did Travis Kelce make Taylor Swift a football fan? Despite not knowing about football, Swift was still curious about the sport and Travis Kelce said that he is "forever thankful" to Swift for "diving into the football world wholeheartedly." "I fell in love with it," Swift replied. "I became obsessed with it. I became a person who was running through the halls of my house screaming, 'We drafted Xavier Worthy! And my friends are like, 'Who body snatched you? What do you mean?'" She added, "We're learning, I continue to learn."

Where did CeeDee Lamb rank in the 2025 NFL Top 100?

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver CeeDee Lamb may not have had the best weekend, but when the former Oklahoma Sooners star wears his uniform and is on the field, he remains one of the best in the NFL. The 15th iteration of the "NFL Top 100" began airing on NFL Network in June with players No. 100 to 91. This week, players No. 40 through 31 will be ranked. Most recently, Lamb, entering his sixth season in the league, checked as the NFL's 35th best player in the countdown. Lamb is coming off a season in which he caught 101 passes for 1,194 yards and six touchdowns. It marked the third straight year he caught more than 100 passes and the fourth straight in which he gained more than 1,100 yards receiving. Accordingly, he was named to the Pro Bowl for the fourth straight season and named an All-Pro for the third consecutive year. His 2025 numbers did drop across the board compared to his 2024 totals. His ranking did, too. Entering last year, Lamb ranked as the No. 13 player in the league, a drop of 22 spots this year. Right next to him, at No. 36 was his Cowboys teammate, linebacker Micah Parsons. Parsons also fell from No. 17 entering last year. Dallas selected Lamb with the No. 17 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. With the Sooners, he caught 173 passes for 3,292 yards and 32 touchdowns over three seasons. After his junior year, he was named a consensus All-American upon leading the Big 12 in touchdown catches with 14. His reception total ranks him second in school history behind only Ryan Broyles, while his yardage total ranks him third, behind Broyles and Sterling Shepard. The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing 7-10 season in which they failed to make the playoffs for the first time since Lamb's rookie year. They open the regular season Thursday, September 4, on the road against the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles.
