Daily Mail04-06-2025
The Love Island 2025 villa has been revealed as this year's contestants get ready to enter the villa on Monday.
Featuring a supersized hideaway, walk-in wardrobes, glam stations and even green exercise equipment that the stars will use to generate power as production takes another eco-conscience moves.
The famous hideaway is back once again but it has been given a makeover for the 10th year anniversary and is bigger than ever.
Decked in gold furnishings and a king-size bed the private room has been accessorised out with plush furnishings as well as a cabinet of champagne glasses for the loved up couples.
The all important glam stations have also been given a fresh purple makeover ready for this year's islanders.

The purple theme has been extended to the fire pit as well as the kitchen, with the counter reading 'Eat, Sleep, Crack On, Repeat'.
Meanwhile ITV bosses have introduced an exercise bike for Love Island contestants to pedal on in a bid to create sustainable energy and fuel their phones.
The whole villa this year, which powers 72 cameras and thousands of lightbulbs, will also be completely run purely on solar power.
Show boss Mike Spencer-Hayler told the Mail: 'We've done some big changes with sustainability. We want to be greener and better.
'Our entire build and de-rig are now run purely on solar power.
'We're trying to make the most steps to being a proactive production.
'And there's a gym bike now where the islanders can ride it to charge all the phones in the villa.
'The more you ride the more you charge. New water bottles that are bigger too.
Once again the hideaway is operating on a 'No Invite Needed' policy
'Our solar panels fuel the entire pre-production. We only intend to make that better as we go too.'
In 2022 bosses revealed the show had partnered with second-hand clothing website eBay, a sponsor they are continuing to work with this year.
The decision came as they hoped to inspire viewers to shop more sustainably.
But last year the winter series came under fire after host Maya Jama and her 'glam squad' made a 12,000-mile round trip to host just ten minutes of the show.
While the journey was made on a commercial flight, insiders at Love Island said they were dismayed that such an eco-unfriendly journey was made when ITV released a mandate which is headlined with the slogan: 'The Biggest Shows with the Smallest Footprint'.
This year Maya Jama has also revealed she will be again traveling back and forth between Spain and the UK as she is set to film for a role in Netflix's The Gentleman.
However she did say she is going greener by renting her outfits this year, as opposed to buying them.
Speaking to the Mail ahead of presenting the show on Monday, she said: 'I rent, I don't buy my Island clothes. Today I'm wearing Versace vintage. All my outfits are going to be from the 90s.'
ITV publicly says it wants to be net zero by 2030, adding on its website: 'We all have a part to play in tackling the climate crisis, at ITV we're focusing on the little changes that make a big impact.'
The day beds have been covered in peach and beige striped pillows
It goes on: 'Little changes you can make, here are some actions that we are taking at ITV that we can all do at home too.'
It then tells viewers to walk, bike or bus - rather than use a car - eat more vegetables, repair and reuse items such as clothes, switch to renewable energy, and cut food waste.
The iconic villa has undergone many changes throughout the years and has always been based in Mallorca.
The original Love Island villa, which was used for the first two series was situated in Santanyi, Mallorca.
And the five-bedroom villa was snapped up by a mystery buyer in March 2022.
The subsequent villa which is still now used for shows is located in Mallorca, in Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, which is on the east coast of the island.
The villa underwent huge renovations after filming concluded for the 2022 series and last year a secret new Hideaway was revealed which requires 'no invite'.
It also boasts a 20m swimming pool, plush sun loungers, brand new day beds and the famous firepit.
The cast also have an outdoor kitchen as well as an outdoor shower, a shared bedroom, a ladies 'glam room' and shared bathrooms.
There is also the famous terrace where secret chats usually take place, although this year the fencing around it has been made shorter and smaller making it easier for the other islanders to spot what's going on up there.
Fans of the show can even book their very own stay at the villa - but it will not come in cheap.

More weight-loss drugs offered in type 2 diabetes care shake-up

Treatment for millions of people with type 2 diabetes should be more personalised, with greater access to newer medicines, including weight-loss drugs, the healthcare assessment body for England, Wales and Northern Ireland has calls the move "the biggest shake-up" in type 2 diabetes care in a more people the new drugs will prevent complications such as heart disease, strokes and kidney damage, reduce costs to the NHS and potentially save lives, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) says. Around 4.6 million people in the UK are diagnosed with diabetes - of these 90% have type 2, with another 1.3 million likely to be undiagnosed. Having type 2 diabetes means there is too much glucose or sugar in the blood. This makes strokes, heart attacks, heart failure and other health conditions much more of a risk. It is now so common that 10% of the NHS budget goes towards treating which produces guidance for the NHS on how to give patients the best care, recommends a move away from a "one size fits all" approach and towards more personalised is calling for newer diabetes medicines called SGLT-2 inhibitors, which protect the heart and kidneys as well as lowering blood sugar levels, to become the first-choice treatment for all diabetes patients. Around 2.3 million people will be eligible for these 22,000 lives could be saved if 90% of all diabetes patients were prescribed them, NICE says, but access is not equal across the UK. There is evidence that women, older people and black people are less likely to be prescribed them."There is some urgency to find ways to increase the uptake of SGLT-2 inhibitors because if we were to achieve perfect uptake, the nation would be significantly healthier," said Dr Waqaar Shah, chair of the guideline one in five people with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease are currently prescribed the the tablets to more people would particularly benefit those living in poorer areas and ethnic minorities, NICE says. Under the guidance, which is still at a draft stage and needs to go through a consultation, around 750,000 more people with type 2 diabetes will be offered GLP-1 agonists such as semaglutide and liraglutide, which have become very popular as the drugs contained in weight-loss with cardiovascular disease and some who develop type 2 before they are 40 are the groups recommended to be offered drugs can be used both to lower blood sugar levels and to support some people with weight Jonathan Benger, deputy chief executive and chief medical officer at NICE, said the updated guidance was "a significant evolution" in type 2 diabetes treatment which could help prevent heart attacks, strokes and other serious complications before they happen."This guidance means more people will be offered medicines, where it is right to do so, to reduce their future risk of ill health," he guidelines are part of a long-term plan by the NHS in England to reduce health inequalities and focus on preventing ill health in the first charity Diabetes UK said the announcement propelled type 2 diabetes treatments "into the 21st century"."These guidelines could go a long way to easing the burden of living with this relentless condition, as well as helping to address inequities in type 2 diabetes treatments and outcomes," said Douglas Twenefour, head of clinical at the charity.

The Toxic Avenger review – strong cast struggles to revive stale horror franchise

The 1980s schlock-splatterfest franchise, originating from the famously low-budget, low-morale Z-list horror studio Troma, is now rebooted with an impressive cast and unimpressive script; it gets its somewhat delayed premiere at Edinburgh, two years after its completion. (It's billed as a world premiere, though a presumably different version screened at a couple of film festivals in 2023.) The original film was about a cringing nerd, sexually humiliated by bikini-clad women and brutalised by jocks, who then falls into a bin of bubbling toxic waste and is transformed into a hideously disfigured bulbous monster wreaking a terrible vengeance on all the bullies. This new version is not more progressive exactly, but the scantily-clad-babe factor, so important in bargain-bin 80s movies, has been dialled down. Now it is Peter Dinklage as our antihero, playing Winston, a humble janitor at a creepy corporation pumping out the poisonous waste – although Dinklage only has to act as himself in the film's initial scenes. After the big transformation it's another actor body-doubling his part in a green monster suit while Dinklage phones in his dialogue from the voice studio. Jacob Tremblay plays Winston's poignantly lonely and vulnerable teen son Wade (another factor that the 1980s original did not consider relevant or necessary) while Taylour Paige plays heroine JJ Doherty, who is out to take down the amoral corporation led by a slimy plutocrat, gamely played by Kevin Bacon with much panto villainy. He has a submissive brother-slash-helpmeet resembling the animated baddie Gru, played by Elijah Wood, and his uptight office assistant is played by Julia Davis. However this solid roster of acting talent can't do much about how frankly uninteresting and unfunny The Toxic Avenger is most of the time. As satire or spoof of both superhero movies and scary movies it is abysmally obsolete, and on its own terms as horror-comedy it achieves neither scares nor laughs. But in fairness, there are some good gags in Sunil Patel's cameo as a sorrowing doctor who has to break the news to Winston about his condition. The Toxic Avenger screened at the Edinburgh film festival, and is in Australian cinemas from 28 August and UK and Irish cinemas from 29 August.
