Enhancing sports participation
This second gathering is part of a series of four annual events aimed at promoting sports participation among students and providing a competitive environment that allows them to engage in athletic experiences that ignite their spirit of challenge and enthusiasm, moving beyond the traditional framework of school physical education classes.
The gathering, tailored for the age group of 7 to 12 years, offered a comprehensive interactive experience in seven individual sports: archery, fencing, judo, taekwondo, karate, athletics, and table tennis, supervised by qualified coaches and a specialized technical team.
A Holistic sport experience
On this day, sports were not just a physical activity but a comprehensive experience that combined skill, challenge, and self-discovery within an environment that encourages girls to develop holistically. The training sessions were conducted within the Olympic center's facilities, designed to the highest standards, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment.
Participating students and teachers expressed their positive interactions with the gathering, affirming that this experience enriched school physical education classes by providing a specialized training environment that allows students to apply their skills in a professional atmosphere, integrating educational and physical aspects.
Statements from the Foundation: Towards a Sports Environment That Cultivates the Future
Commenting on the event, Hanan Al-Mahmoud, Vice President of the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation, stated:
"We believe that introducing students to specialized sports at this age is a true investment in their future. We aim to establish a culture of participation and expand community engagement with women's sports, from school to the field."
Al-Yazia Al-Suwaidi, Head of the Technical Preparation and Follow-up Department at the foundation, noted that:
"What distinguishes this second gathering is the increased interaction and the clear development in the students' understanding of the nature of specialized competition. We carefully monitor these indicators to benefit from them in preparing for future gatherings."
Building an educational sports model
This initiative embodies one of the practical steps taken by the Sharjah Women's Sports Foundation to activate its partnerships with schools and enhance the presence of its sports initiatives in the field. This aligns with its vision to establish a culture of specialized sports, expand girls' participation, and build an integrated system linking the educational environment with the sports community in the emirate.

Italian league set to begin on August 24, 2025

Minimal interruptions and year-end matches According to the league's statement, the season will only pause during the four designated FIFA international windows, scheduled for September, October, November, and March. As in previous seasons, Serie A will not observe a winter break, with fixtures already planned for December 21 and 28, 2025, as well as January 3 and 6, 2026. Midweek fixtures and scheduling adjustments The league also revealed that Matchdays 9 and 19 will be held midweek to accommodate the full 38-round schedule within the set timeframe. These midweek rounds are part of the league's strategy to ensure efficient scheduling despite a packed football calendar. City rivalries and stadium coordination In efforts to minimize security concerns, the league will alternate home and away matches for high-profile city rivalries such as Inter vs. Milan, Lazio vs. Roma, Juventus vs. Torino, and Fiorentina vs. Pisa. This measure is intended to prevent both clubs from hosting matches in the same city during the same round. San Siro exception due to Olympic preparations Despite these arrangements, exceptions will be made where necessary. One notable case involves Milan and Inter, whose shared home, San Siro Stadium, will be unavailable in early February due to preparations for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The stadium is set to host the Olympic opening ceremony on February 6, 2026, requiring special adjustments to the match calendar for both teams.

Faisal bin Humaid Al Qasimi to run for ACF new term's presidency

He added that his decision to run again is in response to calls from several Arab national federation heads, who have asked for his ongoing leadership to complete the development of strategic programs and protect the sport's valuable legacy and progress on both the Arab and global levels. He also stated that the upcoming term will be his penultimate in his athletic career, expressing optimism that the work made thus far will assist in building on historic achievements while designing efforts linked with global improvements to create a strong route for future generations. Al-Qasimi emphasised that the Arab Cycling Federation has made important international accomplishments, most notably when the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) recognised Arab championships in 2018 and added them to the world schedule. This has helped Arab cyclists to qualify for the Olympics and World Championships. He also mentioned the introduction of Arab women's cycling championships, the expansion of road, track, mountain, and para-cycling events, the formation of the Arab Cycling Centre as a technical training hub, and the creation of the "Arab Cycling City" award.
