Shannon Price's 2025 Inter Dominion final duo Speak The Truth, Sure Thing Captain ‘have both peaked at the right time'
Shannon Price and her assistant Scott Miller have just 17 horses in work and two of them – Speak The Truth and Sure Thing Captain – will take on Leap To Fame in the final.
'We've gone one better than the last Inter Dominion here, so that's really pleasing,' Price said.
'We're not a big stable, but we've always had good opinions of these two horses and set them for the series. To get them both through is certainly a thrill, especially in your hometown.'
Speak The Truth won a heat, finished third in another and then finished sixth to Leap To Fame in the 2023 Brisbane Inter Dominion final.
'Sure Thing Captain was still a bit of a baby with a lot to learn back then, but we always felt he has the sort of ability to take the next step,' Price said. 'They've both peaked at the right time.'
Sure Thing Captain did what only Leap To Fame was able to do by winning both his qualifying heats on this series.
Speak The Truth was a luckless ninth on opening night, but lifted when needed and took advantage of a great barrier to lead throughout in his second heat and book a final berth.
'We had to hold our breath with him, but he deserves another crack at it,' Price said.
Stable driver Adam Sanderson has the choice of drives and Nathan Dawson is on the standby for the second runner.
As a Queenslander, Price, who trains at Alberton halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, has seen more of Leap To Fame than most and realistic enough to concede beating him is 'very unlikely' on Saturday.
'We've tried many, many times before and failed,' she said. 'We've had some luck through the heat wins by not having to race against him, but there's no hiding this time.
'He's amazing. We've had a bird's-eye view from his early days up here. He's as good as we've ever seen.'

Despite the awe, there will be no conceding to Leap To Fame if Speak The Truth can take advantage of another good draw (gate three) and find the lead.
'I guess most others will hand him the lead if they get there rather than him pressuring on the outside, but we won't,' she said.
'We've had to sit outside him enough times to want to make him do it if we can find the front this time.
'I'm not saying we can beat him, but Speak The Truth loves it in front. He's a great leader and that's his best chance, rather than taking a trail.'

Price also admits Saturday night's marathon 3157m distance, the longest Inter Dominion pacing final in modern history, is a query for her pair.
'Not just mine, but pretty much every horse in the race except Leap To Fame, I'd think,' she said.
'We just don't get the chance to race over distances like that, especially in Brisbane. Speak The Truth is tough and I think he'll be fine, but the key with Sure Thing Captain is for him to relax early, which has been an issue for him at times, but he's matured a lot.
'Although Leap To Fame hasn't run over the distance, I think everything feels the further the races, the better he's suited.'

Tony Gollan unfazed by prospect of Antino taking on Via Sistina in Cox Plate
Tony Gollan has the highest respect for Via Sistina but has virtually wiped her name from his brain as he uses a laser focus to plot a path towards the Cox Plate for Queensland freak Antino. Nine-time Group 1-winning superstar Via Sistina ($2.30) and Antino ($6) are top of the pops in early Cox Plate betting and it's an even more tantalising prospect considering they are potentially likely to clash several times beforehand. Champion Queensland trainer Gollan is relishing the challenge and said he won't be ducking and diving from tangling with Via Sistina. 'I am aware that we will probably run into Via Sistina after she runs in the Winx Stakes and we will probably run into her the rest of the way through during the spring,' Gollan said. 'But I am more focused on Antino than I am worried about someone else's horse. 'Chris (Waller) has got his own plan for his horse and I've got my own plan for mine, based on what I think will work for me. 'I can alter off that plan if I want but it wouldn't be to be dodging Via Sistina, I would only be changing if I felt I needed to add an extra run before the Cox Plate. 'It's just a process to have Antino at his best for the Cox Plate. 'And I just feel this is the perfect preparation for him, providing everything can go smoothly for us.' ANTINO WINS THE GROUP 1 DOOMBEN CUP!! @tonygollan @blake_shinn @BrisRacingClub @RaceQLD — 7HorseRacing ðŸŽ (@7horseracing) May 24, 2025 Via Sistina has been a racing phenomenon for some time, taking the breath of the racing world away when she spanked her Cox Plate rivals by eight lengths last spring. Antino has been more of a work in progress but he showed last year's Group 1 Toorak Handicap triumph was no fluke when he torched his Group 1 Doomben Cup opposition by four lengths during the recent Queensland winter carnival. Gollan has successfully turned Antino from a sprinter-miler into a middle distance weapon and the exciting gelding ran past Pride Of Jenni like she was standing still when scoring the Doomben Cup in record time. Antino is back in work and Gollan said he wants his stable star to be fourth-up when racing in the Cox Plate. He has tailored an elite spring preparation to suit. 'His first-up run will be Memsie Stakes on August 30 and from there we go two weeks to the Makybe Diva Stakes, they are the two races locked in,' Gollan said. 'Everything going well, my plan would be then three weeks into the Turnbull Stakes and then three weeks into Cox Plate. 'He would be fourth-up into the Cox Plate which I think is probably his optimum. 'Then after that we would hopefully go onto the Champions Stakes as his fifth run of the campaign. 'Antino has put on nice weight, off a short break, and he is doing a bit of three quarter pace work this week as we build things up for him.' Antino and Blake Shinn have been a perfect match, with the star Victorian jockey getting the best out of the Queensland superstar by setting off around his rivals and sustaining a long sprint in his Group 1 wins. Every indication is that the unique Moonee Valley circuit will suit those daring tactics.

‘We're done': Reason Aussie influencers are moving overseas
Australia has become known to many as the 'lucky country', but Aussie influencers are leaving the country in droves to pursue opportunities overseas. Successful Queensland-based digital nomads and influencers Brent and Molly — who gained popularity through travelling around Australia in a caravan for two-and-a-half years with their two children — announced this week that they are leaving the country. 'We're leaving Australia. For good. Not for a holiday. Not for a break. Not for a visa run. We're done.' They captioned their social media post. The reasons they listed for leaving included: sky-high taxes, insane cost of living and shrinking opportunities for entrepreneurs. The pair didn't reveal where they were headed, instead asking their followers to guess which country they were jetting off to. 'Easy. Bali' one person commented. 'Great move. I would think it could be Thailand' another guessed. 'USA' was a repeated guess from many, perhaps due to the fact that the family of four have just returned from a trip to America and Mexico. The pair dismissed some of the guesses in an Instagram story, without revealing where they were moving. 'Is it Bali or Thailand? No definitely not . . .lots of people do but definitely not for us,' they clarified. The announcement comes just months after Gold-Coast based TikTok star Kat Clark announced her move to the US. Many were surprised despite her husband and 14-year-old daughter Deja joining her, she was leaving behind her 22-year-old daughter Latisha. A teary farewell hug at Brisbane Airport as Kat, Jonathan and Deja say goodbye to Latisha before starting their new life in LA. Credit: Instagram The family-focused content creator with 7.4m followers claimed the reason that she was leaving was due to the career opportunities available in the US—particularly TikTok's Creator Rewards program— which is not available in Australia. 'We've had some opportunities come up in America and we're going to give it a go,' the Courier Mail claims Clark said. While some welcomed the news of Clark's move, many were quick to question her relocation to the US given the current political climate. 'I'm sorry, no opportunity could convince me to move to America (right now) it's literally turning into a hell hole,' one person said. 'Why on earth anyone would want to move to America from Australia is beyond me' another commented.

First Nations and Pasifika side learn lessons for Lions
Coach Toutai Kefu says his First Nations and Pasifika team need to be switched on against the British and Irish Lions or risk facing the same ugly fate as the AUNZ Invitational team. Kefu will steer a historic selection, headlined by Indigenous Wallabies veteran Kurtley Beale, at Marvel Stadium next Tuesday night between the first and second Wallabies Tests against the Lions. The Australia-Kiwi team were thrashed in a 48-0 thumping at Adelaide Oval, with Kefu an observer in the coach's box. He said while the signs were good heading into Saturday's match the AUNZ team failed to fire and didn't match the physicality of the tourists. "The players would be more disappointed than anyone but I think from the coaches' point of view, in some aspects of the game, we just didn't turn up," the former Wallabies great said. "Mentally we were just a little bit off the pace and if you don't defend that first kind of crash or collision, they get on a bit of a roll and it's really hard to stop. "However, the prep turns out this week, when the whistle goes and they cross the white line, they need to flick the switch and be ready to play." Following that result and with only a week's preparation, few are giving Kefu's men any chance of upsetting the best of the four-nations. But with nine Wallabies in the squad which represent cultures from Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Cook Islands, Maori and Indigenous Australia, Kefu said his side would do their best to cause a boilover. The squad could also have some late additions from the Wallabies camp should Test coach Joe Schmidt look to give some players a run. "Everyone's thinking that on paper they've probably got a much better team than us," said Kefu, who was part of the Wallabies' 2001 series triumph over the Lions. "But if we've got the right mindset, we've got good enough cattle there. "There's a couple of things ... if we want to enjoy some success in this game there's some critical things that we need to execute."
