Middle East crisis: Several flights from Kerala to Gulf sector cancelled
Flight services by various airlines to destinations including Doha (Qatar), Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), and Muscat (Oman) were cancelled, since Monday night. This following the missile attack by Iran on US military bases in Qatar in retaliation for the American bombing of its nuclear sites, which has put the commercial air operations in the region at risk.

We advise all passengers to check flight status regularly via the airline's official website or airport displays. Also stay updated through MS/email alerts from your airline,' read a passenger advisory issued by the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL).
The cancelled flights from Kochi included AI 953 (COK-DOH), SG 018 (COK-DXB), 6E 1403 (COK-AUH), 6E 1493 (COK-RKT), 6E 1271 (COK-MCT), 6 E 1272 (MCT-COK), 6E 1206/055 (BAH-COK-DMM), SG 017 (DXB-COK), 6 E 1404 (AUH-COK), AI 933 (COK-DXB), AI 934 (DXB=COK, IX 494 (KWI-COK), IX 441 (COK-MCT), IX 476 (DOH-COK), IX 475 (COK-DOH), IX 442 (MCT-COK) and IX 461 (COK-KWI).
Similarly, several flights from Thiruvananthapuram, Calicut and Kannur too were delayed, rerouted or cancelled.

CUMTA to roll out app to integrate metro, bus, last-mile connectivity
Chennai: Chennai unified metropolitan transport authority (CUMTA) will roll out a single ticketing app in the first week of September to integrate Metro Rail, MTC buses, Namma Yatri autos, and cabs. MRTS and suburban trains will be added later this year. While cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru already have integrated ticketing for buses and metros, Chennai's app will make it the first initiative in India to bring cabs, autos, buses, metros, and trains onto one platform. For example, a commuter travelling from Nandanam to VR Mall can open the app, whose name is yet to be finalised, enter start and end points, and receive the best route. This could mean taking the metro to Koyambedu and then a Namma Yatri auto to the mall, with a single QR code generated for the entire journey. Once the commuter exits at Koyambedu, the auto will be booked automatically, with payment for the auto made separately. With MTC's 34.5 lakh daily riders, suburban and MRTS rail's 9.27 lakh, Metro's 3.3 lakh, and over 7,000 Namma Yatri trips a day, the service will unite all modes in five phases. Panel to decide if Hindon terminal may cut flights to stop cancellations
Ghaziabad: The Aerodrome Advisory Committee (AAC) will meet in late August to consider cutting back flights from Hindon Civil Terminal. The civilian adjunct of the IAF base has faced frequent flight cancellations after IndiGo and Air India Express started operations of overlapping flights to Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi, Mumbai and Bengaluru within short intervals of 40-45 minutes. A dawn-to-dusk flight rule and limited parking bays for commercial aircraft add to the burden. Ghaziabad MP Atul Garg, who chairs the AAC, said the problem had been acknowledged at multiple levels. "It is now clear that cancellations are largely the result of increased flight movements within IAF constraints. We are in talks with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the defence ministry and airlines to secure at least two additional parking bays from IAF. But until the terminal expansion is complete, a reduction in overlapping flights may be necessary," Garg said. Another option under discussion is persuading IndiGo and Air India Express to operate on alternate routes or staggered schedules, avoiding same-day, near-identical services on the busiest sectors. "As of now, they operate to the same cities within a span of about 40-45 minutes," Garg added.
