Middle East crisis: Several flights from Kerala to Gulf sector cancelled
Flight services by various airlines to destinations including Doha (Qatar), Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah (UAE), and Muscat (Oman) were cancelled, since Monday night. This following the missile attack by Iran on US military bases in Qatar in retaliation for the American bombing of its nuclear sites, which has put the commercial air operations in the region at risk.
'Due to the evolving situation in the Middle East, certain flights are delayed, rerouted or cancelled as a precautionary measure. We advise all passengers to check flight status regularly via the airline's official website or airport displays. Also stay updated through MS/email alerts from your airline,' read a passenger advisory issued by the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL).
The cancelled flights from Kochi included AI 953 (COK-DOH), SG 018 (COK-DXB), 6E 1403 (COK-AUH), 6E 1493 (COK-RKT), 6E 1271 (COK-MCT), 6 E 1272 (MCT-COK), 6E 1206/055 (BAH-COK-DMM), SG 017 (DXB-COK), 6 E 1404 (AUH-COK), AI 933 (COK-DXB), AI 934 (DXB=COK, IX 494 (KWI-COK), IX 441 (COK-MCT), IX 476 (DOH-COK), IX 475 (COK-DOH), IX 442 (MCT-COK) and IX 461 (COK-KWI).

‘A true ‘thirst trap' post,' say netizens as podcaster Raj Shamani claims to be a water connoisseur
Painting, singing, cooking, and dancing – we have come across a wide variety of hobbies. But have you heard of reviewing and rating water as one? Podcaster Raj Shamani, who identifies as a water connoisseur, claims to do just that. In conversation with Chalchitra Talks, Shamani opened up about his fascination for plain and simple water. 'Mujhe paani peena pasand hai, main na daaru peeta hoon, na main zyada soft drinks peeta hoon, toh mere paas peene ke liye option kya hai? Toh ab main har country mein jaata hoon aur dekhta hoon kaun kaunse paani available hain (I love drinking water. Neither do I drink alcohol, nor do I have a lot of soft drinks. So I do not have a lot of options left. I visit every country and try out their different options of water available),' he shared. Shamani also shared 3 unique stories of tasting water abroad: 'There's a kind of water available in Denmark, called Iskilde water — a kind of artesian water from glaciers that remains untouched and unprocessed. 'Usse meetha paani maine life mein nahi peeya (I have never tasted sweeter water in life),' said the podcaster. According to AquaDeli, a water sommelier blog, it comes from a spring discovered in 2001 in the Danish lake highlands, sourced from an aquifer 60 meters deep. The water is naturally filtered through layers of soil, sand, and clay, absorbing a variety of minerals. 'Iskilde' means 'cold spring' in Danish, and the water is bottled at a very low temperature, resulting in a high oxygen content and a silky, slightly sweet taste. Next, he spoke about UK's Hildon, that is served in the Buckingham Palace and the Royals drink it. 'There's nothing different in it, but I think it's just the hype and story, and process surrounding it that makes all the elite and royalty gravitate towards it. Third, Shamani talked about American brand Bling H2O, which costs Rs 5,000 per bottle. 'It's just regular water, there's nothing else to it. Just the bottle's packaging uses crystals to emboss the word 'Bling'. People do not care what they are drinking, they care what they a re holding,' he said. 'There's liquid death, and Bodyarmour if you want water loaded with electrolytes. If you want to drink Norwegian water, try Voss, that Harvey Specter is seen drinking in the show Suits. It's Rs 600 a bottle,' Shamani added. His niche obsession fascinated the internet, with netizens taking to comments to show their appreciation and enthusiasm for Shamani's interest. From ''He is from Rajasthan…they know water is the most valuable,' 'This is actually really cool. Never thought someone could analyze water and actually make it interesting! I am thirsty just listening to this. A true 'thirst trap' post,' to 'Yes yes I am the target audience,' people lauded the podcaster for opening up and spreading awareness about such a unique concept.

CUMTA to roll out app to integrate metro, bus, last-mile connectivity
Chennai: Chennai unified metropolitan transport authority (CUMTA) will roll out a single ticketing app in the first week of September to integrate Metro Rail, MTC buses, Namma Yatri autos, and cabs. MRTS and suburban trains will be added later this year. While cities like Mumbai and Bengaluru already have integrated ticketing for buses and metros, Chennai's app will make it the first initiative in India to bring cabs, autos, buses, metros, and trains onto one platform. For example, a commuter travelling from Nandanam to VR Mall can open the app, whose name is yet to be finalised, enter start and end points, and receive the best route. This could mean taking the metro to Koyambedu and then a Namma Yatri auto to the mall, with a single QR code generated for the entire journey. Once the commuter exits at Koyambedu, the auto will be booked automatically, with payment for the auto made separately. Agreements with Southern Railways for MRTS and suburban trains are in the pipeline. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo CUMTA aims to promote 'Mobility as a Service', encouraging people to choose public transport. With MTC's 34.5 lakh daily riders, suburban and MRTS rail's 9.27 lakh, Metro's 3.3 lakh, and over 7,000 Namma Yatri trips a day, the service will unite all modes in five phases. Phase two will integrate fares, and phase three will extend the service beyond the city. The app, initially called 'Anna-Ride Booking', will get its official name and logo next month after a meeting with chief minister M K Stalin and CUMTA's chairperson. Commuter Rithvik K, at Thousand Lights Metro, said, "This is great if implemented without bugs. Half the time I fear cancellations from drivers of cab aggregators. If this app books an auto automatically, that worry is gone." Principal architect in Urban Design Collaborative, Nirmal S John Britto, said, "Cities like London have a similar app called Citymapper, so this is a first for India. But like Google Maps, it must adapt to Indian realities. In the West, apps give real-time updates on road closures or repairs. We don't have that here. It should also recognise micro-streets in areas like Sowcarpet or Royapettah, which add historical value for first-time commuters. Without that, it may fall short." Panel to decide if Hindon terminal may cut flights to stop cancellations
Ghaziabad: The Aerodrome Advisory Committee (AAC) will meet in late August to consider cutting back flights from Hindon Civil Terminal. The civilian adjunct of the IAF base has faced frequent flight cancellations after IndiGo and Air India Express started operations of overlapping flights to Kolkata, Patna, Varanasi, Mumbai and Bengaluru within short intervals of 40-45 minutes. A dawn-to-dusk flight rule and limited parking bays for commercial aircraft add to the burden. Ghaziabad MP Atul Garg, who chairs the AAC, said the problem had been acknowledged at multiple levels. "It is now clear that cancellations are largely the result of increased flight movements within IAF constraints. We are in talks with the Airports Authority of India (AAI), the defence ministry and airlines to secure at least two additional parking bays from IAF. But until the terminal expansion is complete, a reduction in overlapping flights may be necessary," Garg said. Another option under discussion is persuading IndiGo and Air India Express to operate on alternate routes or staggered schedules, avoiding same-day, near-identical services on the busiest sectors. "As of now, they operate to the same cities within a span of about 40-45 minutes," Garg added.
