Kalaburagi: Focus on development throughout the year, limiting political activities to election periods, particularly at the state and panchayat levels. Prime Minister Modi emphasised that state development leads to national prosperity, minister of state for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna said and confirmed alignment with this approach in Bidar on Saturday.
The Bidar Railway Station renovation project, valued at Rs 25 crore, must be finished by June 25. The deadline has been communicated to all stakeholders, he said.
A nationwide railway safety system spanning 3,500km is being implemented at Rs 1,700 crore. The Bidar-Hyderabad route received top priority for this installation, which aims to prevent train collisions, the minister added.

Plans include bringing Vande Bharat Express to Bidar. The department will address the extension of Vande Bharat Express service from Bidar and Kalaburagi to Hyderabad, he said.
Regarding the Janaushadha Centre closure, he said, correspondence was sent to the CM and the health minister. Despite some governmental misunderstandings, the CM's response was encouraging. "Development should remain non-political, and more such centres should be established," Somanna said.

Kharge asks Modi to stop ‘self- praise'

Bengaluru: Commenting on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's public speeches after Operation Sindoor, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge urged him to 'focus on the enemy instead of self-boasting' and to recuse himself from election campaign. 'I don't like reacting to all his (Modi's) statements,' Kharge said while addressing reporters in Bengaluru. 'But my only request to him is that those in power should sometimes keep their mouth shut.' Kharge questioned the Prime Minister's recent public statements and political activities, suggesting that Modi should temporarily step back from electoral campaigning. 'Modi should recuse himself from elections and focus on the country. He should understand whatever has happened in the country and speak,' he remarked. 'I am saying without any political differences that he (Modi) should focus on the enemy instead of self-boasting that no one except for him would have done it. Our full support is with the Armed Forces,' he said. Referring to ongoing developments linked to Operation Sindoor, Kharge noted that multi party delegations visiting several countries to explain India's position. 'Let them come back. Till they return, it is not proper to be touring around and giving speeches,' he said. The opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha reiterated the Congress party's unwavering support for the Indian Armed Forces. The Congress chief also took a swipe at the Prime Minister's earlier assertion that the military had been given a free hand. 'When Modi has said he has given full power to the armed forces, then why is he claiming that he did it? Self-boasting is not good.' Emphasising the need for political restraint during sensitive times, Kharge said, 'We will not say anything as the situation is not normal.' He cited the example of restraint shown in Pakistan's parliament during previous India-Pakistan tensions, stating, 'When the clashes broke out between India and Pakistan, a discussion started in Pakistan's parliament not to speak anything against the country.' 'So long as there is an army, we all are safe. That's why we support the armed forces,' he said.

Don't indulge in CSR fraud: DK Shivakumar to corporate entities

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar on Saturday warned corporate entities operating in the state not to indulge in committing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fraud. He made the statement during a review meeting on Saturday at Vidhana Soudha, held to assess state-wide progress with Deputy Commissioners and CEOs. Deputy CM Shivakumar pointed out that many corporate entities based in Karnataka are issuing CSR cheques to private service organisations (NGOs) in other states, and are allegedly taking back around 50 per cent of the amount in cash. This development has come to the notice of the government, he called this a fraudulent practice and stated that such misuse of Karnataka's share of CSR funds is unacceptable. 'It is your responsibility to ensure these funds are used for the development of our schools,' he told the officials.'We don't need CSR funds in cash. Instead, let the companies build one public school per three Gram Panchayats. If land is required, the government will provide it. You identify the land, we will provide the school design. Let the companies construct the buildings and provide infrastructure. Their name can be displayed on the school building alongside the government's,' he proposed. The state receives around Rs 8,000 crore annually through CSR funds. A year ago, directions were issued to utilise these funds for constructing CSR model schools. However, the implementation has been unsatisfactory, Shivakumar noted. He expressed strong displeasure over the slow progress in the construction of CSR-funded public schools in Karnataka, modelled after the Karnataka Public Schools added, 'In my constituency, we are constructing 13 CSR public schools, each costing Rs 9 to Rs 12 crore. But work is progressing only in a few locations, and most places show a complete lack of interest.'
