Explosion at a California fireworks warehouse sets off fires and forces evacuations
People were urged to avoid the area of Esparto and Madison for several days following the Tuesday night explosion, which set off multiple fireworks and caused a large fire that led to other spot fires and collapsed the building.
'The fire will take time to cool, and once it does, explosive experts must safely enter the site to assess and secure the area,' the Yolo County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
The cause of the explosion was under investigation, the office said.
The fire had reached 78 acres (32 hectares) as of Tuesday night, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said.
Esparto is in a rural area about 40 miles (64 kilometers) northwest of Sacramento.
'We do believe this location is owned by an active pyrotechnic license holder,' Deputy State Fire Marshal Kara Garrett told KXTV. She added: 'This type of incident is very rare, as facilities like this are required to not only follow our stringent California pyrotechnic requirements, but also federal explosive storage requirements.'
Gov. Gavin Newsom's office posted that it was tracking the fire and that state ground and air resources were deployed.
'The State Fire Marshal has sent an arson and bomb investigation team, and stands ready to provide additional support as needed,' the statement said.

The Clairton Coke Works is the largest coking factory in the United States -- a facility where coal is processed to produce coke, a key fuel in steelmaking.

Explosion at Lebanese Arms Depot Kills 6 Army Experts, Wounds Several Others
Munition in an arms depot in south Lebanon exploded Saturday as army experts were dismantling them, killing six of them and wounding several others, the army said. The incident occurred on the edge of the southern village of Zibqin in Tyre province, the army said. It added that efforts were being made to determine the cause of the blast but gave no further details. The depot is believed to have been used by the armed group Hezbollah. The blast took place south of the Litani River in an area where Hezbollah withdrew its fighters under the terms of a ceasefire that ended a 14-month conflict with Israel in November. The army warned in a statement Friday that it will not allow any attempts to endanger the country's security. It warned protesters that it will not allow the closing of roads or attack private or public property.

$7K worth of Labubu dolls stolen from Los Angeles store, authorities say
LOS ANGELES: A group of masked thieves stole about $7,000 worth of Labubu dolls from a Los Angeles-area store earlier this week, authorities said. The incident took place early Wednesday morning at a store in La Puente, a city about 18 miles (29 kilometers) east of Los Angeles, the LA County Sheriff's Department said. The department said the suspects used a stolen Toyota Tacoma in the incident, which was recovered shortly afterward. The agency said it was investigating the case and did not have additional information. The labubu, a toy created by Hong Kong-born artist Kasing Lung, have become a popular collectible item a decade after the toothy monsters were first introduced. Toy vendor One Stop Shop said in an Instagram post that the thieves 'took all of our inventory trashed our store.'
