Melaka KPDN monitors 5 essential items in Op Kesan 4.0
The operation, launched today, focuses on condensed milk, chocolate malt drinks, wheat flour, sardines, and white bread.
Melaka KPDN director Dr Mohd Hazimin Jamaludin stated, 'This focus is also part of the monitoring measures following the implementation of the Sales Tax rate review and the expanded scope of the Service Tax (SST), which began on July 1.'
From July 1 to July 17, authorities inspected 35 premises involving 63 stock-keeping units (SKUs).
A written notice was issued for three SKUs, including a viral case related to ice pricing.
Mohd Hazimin added that KPDN is also checking for quantity manipulation, where packaging sizes shrink without significant price adjustments.
'Sometimes the price remains the same, but the quantity decreases. What is important is not just cheapness, but fairness to consumers.'
Consumers are encouraged to report violations via WhatsApp (019-8488000), the e-complaint portal (eaduan.kpdn.gov.my), or the call centre (1-800-886-800).
From January 1 to July 17, Melaka KPDN recorded 234 enforcement cases under various Acts, with seizures worth RM261,360.
Compounds totalled RM66,700, while fines reached RM299,500. Fourteen individuals were detained in 13 arrest cases. - Bernama

Concession Companies Need To Understand Toll Hike Delay To Lighten People's Burden
KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 (Bernama) -- The decision to delay the increase in toll rates on several highways needs to be understood by concession companies in the context of the MADANI government's noble efforts to lighten the burden of the people, especially highway users among the B40. Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that although the move would affect the cash flow of highway concession companies, he believed that the government's real objective would be understood by all parties involved. 'In terms of the business model, they do not like it (delay in increase) … from the beginning when making the business proposal, cash flow has been taken into account. 'We understand, and this is undoubtedly disrupting their cash flow but I hope they understand why the government made this decision to ease the burden of road users, especially the B40 group,' he said here today. Nanta said this at a press conference after the handover of the Letter of Acceptance (SST) for the Blackspot and Federal Road Maintenance Programme in Peninsular Malaysia at the Works Ministry. The event was also attended by Works Ministry deputy secretary-general (Policy and Development) Datuk Mohd Sakeri Abdul Kadir. He also expressed his appreciation to the concession companies who cooperated and understood the government's decision to help the people in the current economic situation. He said the government also acknowledged that the concession companies had responsibilities based on the agreements signed, and any breach of the agreement had to be seen from the perspective of their interests. 'When there is a breach of this agreement, we have to understand it from their perspective because they borrowed their investment money and so on, and it needs to be repaid. 'They have a business model, return on investment (ROI), so we have to understand that is their big responsibility. So whatever is good for everyone, then all parties should work together," he explained.

KPDN enhances PJRM 2025 with RM300m boost for nationwide sales
PUTRAJAYA: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will implement three key improvements to the MADANI Rahmah Sales Programme (PJRM) 2025, following the government's announcement of an additional RM300 million allocation. Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the enhancements involve increasing the frequency of sales nationwide, expanding the number of stock-keeping units and onboarding more strategic retail partners. 'KPDN is targeting 20,000 PJRM series nationwide this year, covering all 222 parliamentary constituencies, 600 state constituencies, and 40 zones in the Federal Territories. 'As of July 22, a total of 12,441 PJRM series have been implemented nationwide,' he told reporters after inspecting a PJRM event held at the ministry today. He added that the ministry also aims to raise the minimum number of stock-keeping units per location to 30 based on local demand and seasonal needs, such as festive periods, compared to the current range of 20 to 30. Armizan added that more strategic retail partners would be engaged through Mobile, On-Premises, and Off-Premises formats, and the sales schedules would be updated on the ministry's website from time to time. When asked whether discounts would be increased beyond the current 10 to 30 percent range, he said the matter would be considered. Armizan said the ministry will submit a report on this year's PJRM to the Finance Ministry in December to assess the programme's performance and impact on the public. He also thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the people-centric initiatives, which were announced via a special live broadcast yesterday. Anwar announced the PJRM allocation would be doubled to RM600 million this year to increase its frequency, expand coverage across all 600 state constituencies and offer a wider range of goods for public benefit. - Bernama
