Pascal Desroches to Update Shareholders at the 2025 Mizuho Technology Conference on June 10
DALLAS, June 9, 2025 /CNW/ -- Tomorrow, AT&T's chief financial officer will participate in a fireside chat where he will discuss the Company's multi-year strategic growth plan. Key Takeaways: AT&T reiterates full-year 2025 financial and operational guidance. AT&T is pursuing a multi-year strategic growth plan that centers around putting customers first, continued network investment and increased capital returns to shareholders. Pascal Desroches, chief financial officer, AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T), will speak tomorrow at the 2025 Mizuho Technology Conference where he will provide an update to shareholders. AT&T continues to make progress on becoming the best connectivity provider in America The Company continues to execute on its multi-year growth plan and differentiate its position within the connectivity industry by increasing its opportunity to serve customers how they want to be served, by one provider with fiber and 5G in a converged manner. The Company recently announced an agreement to acquire substantially all of Lumen's Mass Markets fiber internet connectivity business. The transaction, which is expected to close in the first half of 2026, will expand investment in critical U.S. connectivity infrastructure, create new middle-class jobs and accelerate high-speed fiber internet access to millions of Americans. Additionally, this deal will enable AT&T to significantly expand access to AT&T Fiber in new major metro areas and allow the Company to serve more customers with 5G and fiber together. AT&T continues to extend its fiber leadership with plans to reach approximately 60 million total fiber locations by year-end 2030.1 Ultimately, this transaction aligns with the priorities outlined at AT&T's 2024 Analyst & Investor Day, including its goal of becoming the best connectivity provider in America while providing more value to customers, shareholders and the Company. AT&T is seeing solid customer demand and remains on track to achieve its 2025 financial and operational guidance The wireless industry remains both healthy and competitive, and the Company is pleased with how the Mobility business is performing in the second quarter. In Consumer Wireline, the Company continues to expand access to AT&T Fiber – America's fastest internet with the most reliable speeds.2 Trends in AT&T Fiber penetration rates remain consistent, with net adds varying from quarter to quarter based primarily on the pace of new fiber locations passed, seasonality and marketplace dynamics. For the second-quarter 2025, the Company continues to expect capital investment* in the $4.5 billion to $5 billion range and free cash flow* of approximately $4 billion. AT&T reiterates all full-year 2025 financial and operational guidance. Additionally, the Company continues to operate the business to achieve the financial plan and capital returns outlined at its 2024 Analyst & Investor Day. AT&T remains committed to repurchasing shares under the previously announced $10 billion authorization, with plans to repurchase at least $3 billion of common stock by year-end and the remainder during 2026. VW's EV Masterplan Expands Beyond Just Batteries
Volkswagen is in the middle of a turnaround strategy that will put the German brand back on track. Its grand plan was revealed earlier this year, with nine new models to be launched in the next few years. The all-new Scalable Systems Platform (SSP)is part of this movement, though various issues have plagued its rollout, including software issues related to Cariad. Now, VW has revealed an update about the SSP, and it's a major one that involves internal combustion engines. After years of touting the SSP as its clean-sheet EV architecture, the German auto giant has revealed that SSP will also support internal combustion engines, though not in the traditional sense. Instead, VW is pivoting toward range-extending gas engines that generate electricity to charge batteries, not drive the wheels. While VW may tout this as an evolution of the SSP architecture, the incorporation of a range-extender engine is more like a safety net for the brand. At this point, several automakers have already backpedaled from their all-EV push due to waning demand for BEVs. VW is one of them, and this is the company's solution. The SSP architecture will still be fully electric at heart, but it will also accommodate range extenders. These are internal combustion engines used solely to generate power for the battery, with no mechanical link to the wheels. Nissan's e-Power, which is reportedly reaching the US market, operates on the same principle as VW's SSP. The defunct Mazda MX-30 also got a similar upgrade with a rotary range extender, while VW Group's own Scout brand is also launching in the market with the same technology. One of SSP's headline vehicles will be the ninth-generation VW Golf, which will be fully electric and will coexist with the current Mk8 Golf for several years. It's unclear whether there will be a range-extended version of the Golf, but we expect the model to arrive by 2029, so there is an allowance for adjustments to VW's plan. In China, the world's biggest automotive market, Volkswagen already previewed the ID. Era concept, which features a gasoline-powered range extender. Of note, EV demand in China is also dropping, with range-extended EVs and plug-in hybrid gaining popularity. Despite the expanded capabilities, VW doesn't expect this range-extended EV strategy to take hold everywhere. According to VW CEO Thomas Schäfer, Europe is unlikely to see SSP-based range extender models where plug-in hybrids remain the more viable option. Copyright 2025 The Arena Group, Inc. A ‘Seinfeld'-Approved Bagel Institution Out of NYC Lands in D.C.
New York bagels are coming to the nation's capital. And these aren't just New York- style bagels; rather, H&H Bagels — which opened its first location in Manhattan in 1972 — brings its 50-year-old recipe to Mount Vernon Triangle (601 K Street NW). H&H is now open for ordering as of today. It's celebrating its D.C. debut on Thursday, June 12 with mystery value gift cards valued between $5 and $100 for the first 200 customers. sH&H purists will be happy to hear the bagel and schmear menu will be identical to the original. To maintain its iconic texture, chew, and taste, H&H sends its dough made from kettle-boiled NYC water down to its newest location. 'Bagels are baked fresh on-site [and] now around the country, so that no matter where you are, you're getting the real NYC experience,' says director of marketing Jesse Stein. Since its Upper West Side debut decades ago, H&H has expanded across the city with stores in the Upper East Side, multiple airport outposts, and Penn Station. While H&H is sticking to its recipe roots, it's branching out in terms of certain flavors and combinations. Take a new spicy scallion cream cheese, which is infused with a blend of dried chili peppers, and then mixed with fresh scallions for a slow-building heat. Stein also teases some 'fun collaborations coming up toward the end of the summer' that will be available both in D.C. as well as locations nationwide. Classics, however, will always be a staple at H&H. The Bacon, Egg, and Cheese remains the most popular sandwich on the menu 'by a mile,' says Stein. Its everything bagel, by the way, is its best-seller by far. The D.C. debut marks the brand's third expansion out of its Big Apple home base, thanks to the nationwide franchise rollout announced in 2024. Boca Raton and Santa Monica are already open, and future shops are destined for Tampa, Jacksonville, and West Palm Beach, Florida; Knoxville, Tennessee; Chicago; and LA. But D.C. is special, says Stein: 'There was great interest in bringing H&H to the community, and we're excited to be in such a great location accessible to so many Washingtonians.' While New York City may be known for its bagels, D.C. certainly holds its own when it comes to baked rings of goodness. The nation's capital has no shortage of excellent local shops, including decades-old Bethesda Bagels, Shaw newcomer Pearl's Bagels, and Buffalo & Bergen — the growing D.C. enterprise from Long Island-born restaurateur Gina Chersevani that ships dough daily from Queens. But this growing bagel culture, says Stein, has only added fuel to H&H's fire. 'We know that the bagel scene has been having its moment in D.C., and we're very excited to join that community,' says Stein. 'It's great to be coming into a region where there's already passion around bagels.' Founded in 1972 by Helmer Toro and Hector Hernandez, the original H&H Bagel was as classic as it gets. The New York Times said it was the neighborhood's 'most celebrated destination for what is quite possibly the Upper West Side's most iconic food.' The cult-favorite amongst locals and tourists alike was popularized over the years by appearances in Sex & the City and Seinfeld . H&H famously played a starring role on Seinfeld . Returning to work after a 12-year strike, Kramer ends up sabotaging the bagel machine and goes back on strike during 'Festivus' — and reminding us all that the hourly minimum wage in NY was just $5.15 in the late 1990s. From a price perspective, its cream cheese bagel with mix-ins like scallion, veggie, strawberry, and more is now $5.75. —Tierney Plumb contributed to this report Sign up for our newsletter.
