Memorial Day, held annually on the last Monday in May, mourns and honors the deceased service men and women in the United States, according to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Ventura County will mark the federal holiday with events throughout the region.
But that's not all on deck for the weekend. A Bon Jovi tribute band, fine art, ship tours and more events will be available at local venues.
The 48th annual Art in the Park will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. May 24 and 25 in Libbey Park in Ojai. The event will feature more than 70 fine artists showcasing their works. The park is at 210 S. Signal St.
"It's a good introduction to fine art for all ages," said Helen Solomon, event spokesperson.
Artists must send photos of their work to a jury committee to be selected to participate, Solomon said. More than 100 artists entered for the 2025 event, she said.
The art festival raises $20,000 to $25,000 annually for the Ojai Art Center, Solomon said. For more information, visit: ojaiartcenter.org/artinthepark.html.
In Simi Valley, the Happy Face Music Festival is scheduled for May 24 with five bands, food trucks and restaurant vendors at Rancho Susana Community Park, 5005 E. Los Angeles Ave.
"The name comes from the actual Happy Face Hill in Simi Valley," said Steve Hise, festival chair. Happy Face Hill is named after a large, grinning face on a hillside that can be seen from westbound Highway 118 near Kuehner Drive.
The festival, from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., features tribute bands and era-specific acts. VIP tickets are $135.23, general admission tickets are $28.52 and kids under age 12 are free.
The entertainment lineup includes Wanted, a Bon Jovi tribute band, and Boys of Summer, an Eagles tribute group. Fast Times, an '80s new wave and rock act, The Yacht Groove, which specializes in yacht rock hits, and the Ultimate Rock Band will also perform.
"This is not really a sit down type concert where you're sitting in seats," said Larry Borovay, president of the Rotary Club of Simi Sunrise.
Proceeds from the concert go to 10-15 different groups, including local charities and organizations like the Simi Valley Cultural Arts Center and a police foundation, he said.
About 2,500 people are expected, Hise said. For more information, visit happyfacemusicfest.com.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Trailer Rocks Taylor Swift Songs, Teases Belly's Wedding

The trailer for the third and final season of Prime Video's The Summer I Turned Pretty features two Taylor Swift songs and hints at Belly's (Lola Tung) wedding. The series originally premiered on June 17, 2022, with Season 2 debuting on July 14, 2023. Prime Video greenlit the third season in August 2023. In March 2025, Prime Video announced that the show would end with Season 3. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 trailer is set to Taylor Swift's 'Daylight' and 'Red' and shows Belly walking down the aisle in what looks like a wedding gown. The third season begins toward the tail end of Belly's junior year of college, as she prepares for one more summer in Cousins Beach. The trailer gives snippets of Belly's journey this season while her voiceover reflects on how she experienced her first love with Christopher Briney's Conrad, and how she has now found the one, Gavin Casalegno's Jeremiah. Notably, Conrad and Jeremiah are brothers. The logline for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 reads, 'It's the end of her junior year of college, and Belly's looking forward to another summer in Cousins with her soulmate, Jeremiah. Her future seems set, until some core-shaking events bring her first love Conrad back into her life. Now on the brink of adulthood, Belly finds herself at a crossroads and must decide which brother has her heart. Summer will never be the same…' The trailer depicts Belly and Jeremiah deciding to tie the wedding knots and facing pushback from their respective parents. Series creator Jenny Han based the show on her namesake novel trilogy. However, it's unclear whether the show will follow the ending of the books and who Belly will ultimately choose between Conrad and Jeremiah. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, comprising 11 episodes, debuts on Prime Video on July 16, 2025. Caitlin Clark's Effect on Pacers Amid NBA Finals is Turning Heads

Caitlin Clark's Effect on Pacers Amid NBA Finals is Turning Heads originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers continue to defy their doubters, as they took Game 3 of the NBA Finals by a final score of 116-107 over the Oklahoma City Thunder. Advertisement The Thunder were heavily favored to win the world championship coming into this series, but the Pacers now lead the series 2-1. The Hoosier State is stoked about the very real possibility of the Larry O'Brien Trophy landing there for the first time ever. This is the Pacers' second trip to the NBA Finals and their first since 2000, and fans can almost start to taste the champagne. Indiana Fever stars Caitlin Clark and Aliyah BostonKyle Terada-Imagn Images One of their biggest fans is Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark. She was on hand at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday for Game 3 along with several of her teammates, and she may be a good luck charm for the Pacers. When she has been in attendance this season, the Pacers have been 8-0. Fans on X reacted to this interesting statistic. Advertisement "That's a cool stat," one fan wrote. "She needs to attend 2 more games," another fan chimed in. "Or maybe it's the spirit of Jim Ursay," a third fan wrote, referring to former Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, who died a few weeks ago. "CC Effect," a fourth user wrote. "The @NBA saw what the @NFL did with @taylorswift13 and said, 'Hey we can do that with @CaitlinClark22!!' 😂😂😂 #conspiracytheory" a fifth user mused. "Thank you @CaitlinClark22," another fan added. During the regular season, the Pacers finished with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference. Many were counting them out as the playoffs started, even though they reached the Eastern Conference finals last year. Advertisement But they knocked out the Cleveland Cavaliers, who finished first with 64 wins, in the second round, and they shoved past the New York Knicks in the Eastern Conference finals. Throughout this postseason, they have gotten the job done not only with their potent fast break but also by overcoming late deficits and getting some late-game heroics from Tyrese Haliburton. The Pacers can put a stranglehold on this championship series when Game 4 takes place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Friday. Woman Is Confident Her Chair Is Blue — But the Internet Has Other Plans

One TikTok user grabbed the internet's attention over the color of her chair. The saga began in early June when a now-viral video was shared by Kristin (@ which has now amassed over two million views. In the beginning of the clip, she asked the question that started it all: 'Is this chair gray or blue?" Kristin explained that she was asking because she was giving the chair away to someone, and the person thought the chair was gray while Kristin had always believed her chair was blue. "And she's like, 'Can you get more pictures? It's gray.' And I'm like, 'OK, but my couch and my chair have always been blue,' but now she's gaslighting me and I'm starting to believe it." The California resident then flips her phone camera to reveal the chair in question, leaving many users baffled at the sight of it. 'It's not only gray, it's very freaking gray,' one user said. 'I adjusted the screen brightness on my phone and everything trying my hardest to back you up, but sweet Moses that is a very gray chair,' said another user. Despite differing in opinion with the internet, Kristin continued to be in good spirits and joked about the debacle in videos. 'It can't be gray! It's not gray, is it?' she said as she laughed in a video posted after her viral video. Users also pointed out that a couch in the background of her original video matched the chair's color, leaving Kristin with another question: What other things in her house are gray? 'The couch is navy. The couch was never part of the question… the couch has always been dark blue!' she said in a follow-up video. She then introduces other items in her house that she thought were blue or gray, and TikTok users were quick to share their opinions. 'The rug is dark navy blue. But your couch and that blanket are 100% grey,' one user said. After a few days of realizations and laughs, Kristin sat down to take an online color blind test, though she emphasized she would go to a doctor before confirming anything. The test results suggested that she may be protan color blind, where she may have red-green color blindness. Though the realization was a shock, Kristin stayed in good spirits and has now asked viewers to help her pick a new couch. In the comments, one person thought up the scenario in which Kristin accidentally buys another gray couch. 'I'm checking the description this time,' Kristin replied with a laughing emoji.
