Tipster reveals when the Google Pixel 10 Pro will go on sale
We were contacted by someone who works at a phone shop, claiming to have seen documents that state that the Google Pixel 10 Pro sale will go live on August 20.
This might apply to the entire 10-series, though it might not – last year Google launched the vanilla and Pro XL models in August, then the small Pro and the Pro Fold in September. Given that the tip was specifically for the 10 Pro, we don't think that the 10 Pro and 10 Pro XL will be split this time around. Whether the Pro Fold is ready in time is another question.
We can't verify the claims of our tipster, but the information is not surprising either. Note that the August 20 date most likely refers to the start of pre-orders - Google should begin shipping pre-orders and kick off open sales of the new models several days after that. The Google Pixel 10 series
Looking back at the 9-series, it was unveiled on August 13 and pre-orders for the vanilla and Pro XL models started immediately after the event. Shipping and open sales for those two started on August 22. Deliveries of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold were set for September 4 and open sales began the day after.
If the Pixel 10 series follows the same timeline, pre-orders will start on August 20 and the first models will be shipping by the end of the month. Nine days later is August 29, a Friday. There's a good chance that the upcoming Google Pixel Watch 4 and Pixel Buds 2a will follow the same timeline as the Pixel phones.

Faster charging speeds for some iPhone 17 models hinted at in new photos
With the unveiling of the iPhone 17 series roughly five weeks away, leakster (to coin a term) Majin Bu says that one of his sources has sent him photographs of the iPhone 17 Pro battery inside a stainless steel case. Two different versions of the battery case were revealed. One is for the U.S. market and the other for the Chinese market. The U.S. version has a smaller "L-shaped" cutout compared with the cutout on the Chinese variant of the stainless steel battery case. The Chinese version of the steel battery case also differs from the U.S. version because of its ability to host a SIM tray. Starting with the iPhone 14 series in 2022, new model iPhone units sold in the U.S. are not equipped with a physical SIM tray. The U.S. version of the stainless steel battery case is also wider. The"leakster" also believes that the steel case indicates that the new iPhone 17 Pro models will have a better grip on thermal management for charging at faster speeds. Apple, worrying about the cumulative effects of fast charging on the longevity of the battery, and the amount of heat such charging speeds generate, is too conservative when it comes to fast charging. In addition to doing a better job of managing heat dissipation, the stainless steel battery cases are more durable and less prone to puncture than the previously used "soft packs." The latter held the battery cells in a pouch made of a thin, flexible foil-like material and are prone to accidental punctures, which makes it harder to replace the phone's battery. Thus, the new stainless steel cases should make battery replacement easier. The "soft packs" weigh less than the stainless steel battery cases, and takes up less room. But the stainless steel cases are not only more durable, they also do a better job of dissipating heat. Apple first tested the stainless steel battery case with last year's iPhone 16 Pro. The iPhone 16 Pro Max came with a "soft pack" battery case. According to Majin Bu, besides the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, we could see the stainless steel battery case employed on the ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air.

Meanwhile, the two Z Flip models have to go up against Motorola's Razrs right now. The Motorola Razr Ultra 2025 carries a $200 discount, which evens out with the free storage upgrade on the Galaxy Z Flip7, making the 512GB models cost the same - $1,100. The Razr Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite, while the Galaxy has a Samsung Exynos – yes, even in the US this time. The 7.0' inner display of the Moto stands out with a slightly higher pixel density, higher brightness (4,500 nits vs. 2,600 nits), Dolby Vision support and higher refresh rate (165Hz vs. 120Hz). The cover displays are more evenly matched – 4.0' 165Hz 3,000 nits vs. 4.1' 120Hz 2,600 nits for the Moto and Samsung, respectively. The main cameras on both phones have 50MP sensors with 1.0µm pixels and f/1.8 lenses with OIS. The Motorola has the better ultra-wide (50MP vs. 12MP) and selfie cameras (50MP vs. 10MP), however. It also has a bigger battery (4,700mAh vs. 4,300mAh) with faster charging (68W wired, 30W wireless vs. 25W/15W). Both phones have the same IP48 rating, but the Razr Ultra is chunkier – it is 15.7mm folded, 7.2mm unfolded and weighs 199g, while the Z Flip7 is 13.7mm folded, 6.5mm unfolded and weighs 188g.
