Traffic Talk: Lee County MPO seeking your transportation input with survey, public hearing

Yahoo17 hours ago

As residents of Lee County deal with the daily and often frustrating challenges of roads and traffic, one organization is seeking input for how things might look in the future when it comes to transportation.
The Lee County Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is inviting you to view its Long Range Transportation web page, virtual meeting room, and survey for the 2050 (LRTP).
According to a press release, the LRTP is a 25-year vision for the community's transportation needs and expectations. It considers all types of travel and identifies projects that will best serve drivers and their passengers, bicyclists, pedestrians, and people using public transportation. It also addresses how and where freight movement occurs through and within the county.
The 2050 Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) is the latest five-year update and a multimodal plan that makes recommendations for road, bus, bike, sidewalk, and freight-related projects with identified short-term and long-term strategies.
This website is a resource that continues to be updated throughout the process with new information, documentation, meeting dates and times, as well as online surveys.
On the website you will find access to a Virtual Meeting Room, this will have all the information available that will be included in the in-person workshop. Through this virtual room you can also leave comments and take the survey.
The virtual meeting room will be open throughout the duration of the project, which is through December of 2025.
On the project website you will also see the online survey directly linked.
The Lee County MPO is seeking your input to help guide future transportation improvements for Lee County.
This brief questionnaire helps Lee County MPO to better understand current transportation behavior and future needs. The survey will take between 5-10 minutes to complete.
English version of survey: Here
Spanish version of survey: Here
The survey closes on June 14.
June 20, 2025 at 9:00 a.m., at the Lee County Administration East Building located at 2201 Second Street in Room 118.

Charles Leclerc Losing Trust in Ferrari as Frustrations Boil Over

Charles Leclerc Losing Trust in Ferrari as Frustrations Boil Over originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Charles Leclerc's patience with Ferrari may finally be running out. The 27-year-old star, often seen as Ferrari's future world champion, is reportedly reconsidering his long-term future with the Scuderia. Despite a contract running through 2029, Italian outlet Corriere della Sera claims Leclerc is weighing his options beyond 2026, a move that would shake up the F1 landscape. Advertisement Ferrari entered 2025 full of hype with Lewis Hamilton joining Leclerc in a dream pairing. But after nine races, the team sits behind McLaren by 197 points. Leclerc is fifth in the championship, trailing McLaren's Oscar Piastri by a staggering 92 points. Insiders suggest Leclerc feels Ferrari still can't give him a car worthy of a title fight. Since joining in 2019, the Monegasque has delivered standout qualifying performances but never had the Sunday pace or strategy support to turn them into a real championship run. Charles Leclerc after P3 finish in the 2025 Spanish aren't limited to Leclerc. Lewis Hamilton, still winless and without a podium in 2025, is also reportedly feeling the strain of unmet expectations and added pressure off the track. Advertisement Meanwhile, rumors are swirling that team boss Fred vasseur is on thin ice with Ferrari leadership growing restless. Toto Wolff remains a known admirer of Leclerc and with George Russell's Mercedes contract not yet extended, an opening could emerge. If Max Verstappen's future with Red Bull becomes uncertain and Fernando Alonso steps away from Aston Martin, the 2026 driver market could explode. But for now, all eyes are on Ferrari and whether Leclerc will continue to wait, or walk away. Former F1 Champ Expresses Concern About Lewis Hamilton at Struggling Ferrari: 'Doesn't Seem Himself'

Former F1 Champ Expresses Concern About Lewis Hamilton at Struggling Ferrari: 'Doesn't Seem Himself' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari was billed as a fairytale finish to a legendary career. But just nine races into the 2025 season, the reality is proving far more difficult and now questions are being raised about whether the seven-time world champion is losing his spark. Advertisement 'It's not a happy place for Lewis Hamilton. Spain was hard to watch,' 1997 F1 champion Jacques Villeneuve was quoted by following the Spanish Grand Prix. Villeneuve didn't hold back, suggesting Hamilton no longer looks like the fierce competitor fans are used to. 'It's hard to understand because he has shown the speed, he's qualified, but it's not consistent. And it seems that he is doubting himself. Even when he speaks, he doesn't seem full of energy.' The remarks come as Ferrari continues to struggle delivering a truly competitive car. Hamilton remains winless in 2025, while Charles Leclerc has secured a handful of podiums but sits a distant fifth in the championship. The Italian team has failed to convert preseason hype into results, leaving both drivers visibly frustrated. Lewis Hamilton in the media pen after the 2025 Spanish also criticized Ferrari's broader trajectory, saying the team has been 'promising upgrades' for years without major progress. 'It really pans out. It's been years of this, and they haven't figured it out yet.' Advertisement He added that internal dynamics between Hamilton and Leclerc could be complicating the team's progress. 'If the two drivers don't work the same way, that makes it a little bit more difficult.' Hamilton, who joined Ferrari this year on a multi-season deal, has yet to publicly express serious frustration but signs of strain are becoming harder to ignore. With major regulation changes set for 2026, the clock is already ticking on Ferrari's ability to give him a car worthy of an eighth title push. 5 drivers who could replace Max Verstappen if Red Bull star gets suspended

Max Verstappen is teetering on the brink of a one-race suspension following his reckless run-in with George Russell at the Spanish Grand Prix two weeks ago. The FIA hit the Red Bull star and four-time world champion with a 10-second penalty in the race, followed by three penalty points on his super license. That means Verstappen enters the Canadian Grand Prix with 11 points total on his super license in total. F1's rules dictate 12 penalty points in a 12-month period trigger a one-race suspension. Advertisement Fortunately for Max, two of his points will expire at the end of June. Unfortunately, he doesn't plan on changing his driving style at all before then. Which means Red Bull must be prepared for the possibility Verstappen is sidelined if he gets assessed another point. So who drives one of the best cars in the world if Max is out? Here's a look at team principal Christian Horner's best option. Mandatory Credit: Sam Navarro-Imagn Images The driver of the No. 30 VCARB car would be a natural selection to slot into Max's seat — especially after he impressed Horner in practice last season while driving a Red Bull, leading the team to cut Daniel Ricciardo to make space for Lawson. Isack Hadjar MONTREAL, QUEBEC - JUNE 13: Dr Helmut Marko, Team Consultant of Oracle Red Bull Racing talks with Isack Hadjar of France and Visa Cash App Racing Bulls in the Paddock prior to practice ahead of the F1 Grand Prix of Canada at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on June 13, 2025 in Montreal, Quebec. (Photo by) Lawson's VCARB teammate might be the better driver this season, but would Red Bull really consider messing with something that's working so well? Hadjar is ninth in the driver standings with 21 points — compared to Lawson's four — and even the Paris native is worried about what a call-up might look like. Advertisement 'It's a bit scary," Hadjar said Thursday. "I wouldn't feel ready. I'm just nine races in. It looks to be complicated when I look at Yuki [Tsunoda] and Liam, who are very quality drivers. So no, I'm not very ready, but I would always be here for the call, that's for sure.' Arvid Lindblad ABU DHABI, UNITED ARAB EMIRATES - DECEMBER 11: Arvid Lindblad of Great Britain and Campos Racing (20) looks on in the garage during day one of Formula 2 Testing at Yas Marina Circuit on December 11, 2024 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. (Photo by) Just 17 years old (until August), Red Bull successfully petitioned the FIA to grant the Formula 2 driver a super license prior to his 18th birthday. That might be all the evidence necessary to anoint the rising British star Verstappen's back-up. Per ESPN's Laurence Edmondson: [Lindblad] is being lined up to take part in free practice sessions ahead of the August break, but will now also qualify as a reserve driver for Red Bull and its junior team Racing Bulls. ...Although the application for Lindblad's superlicence was submitted before Verstappen received three penalty points at the last round in Spain, he would present an alternative to current reserve Ayuma Iwasa, who is currently racing in Japan's Super Formula. Mandatory Credit: David Kirouac-Imagn Images Well, this one should be obvious, but if Lindblad is getting approval to race it sure seems like Red Bull is content to leave Iwasa in the Super Formula car. That said, he's still on Horner's roster and remains a solid option. Daniel Ricciardo SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE - SEPTEMBER 22: Daniel Ricciardo of Australia and Visa Cash App RB prepares in the garage prior to the F1 Grand Prix of Singapore at Marina Bay Street Circuit on September 22, 2024 in Singapore, Singapore. (Photo by) Could Red Bull's prodigal son return once again and finally get his storybook ending!? Advertisement No, don't count on it. Ricciardo hasn't been around the paddock at all lately and it would take a lot from both sides to get the veteran race ready. Still, Horner knows him well and knows what he's getting. If he'd rather put an experienced F1 driver in the car rather than an up-and-comer, there are way worse options.
