Man accused of extreme neglect of dog
DAVIDSON COUNTY — A northwest Davidson County man has been arrested and accused of neglect that resulted in a dog's death, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office said on Sunday.
In February deputies received a report of a dog needing immediate veterinary care at a property in the 2000 Block of Friendship Ledford Road in the Wallburg area.
Brian Coe was found to have a chocolate Labrador retriever is serious need of care, and deputies issued an immediate order for emergency veterinary care, but deputies found later that Coe failed to comply with the order, and the dog died, the sheriff's office said
Coe was arrested on March 15. He has a court hearing scheduled May 13.
Investigators ask that anyone with any further information contact Cpl. K. Daniel at the Davidson County Sheriff's Office Animal Control Division at 336-242-2105.

Sex sting operation nabs 14, including man who hit deputy with his car, breaking his leg
An online sex sting dubbed Operation Travel to Gavel, where police posed as children, netted 14 arrests, including an Ocala man who drove his car into a Volusia County sheriff's deputy and broke his leg, authorities said. The sting was carried out on June 5, 6, and 7. The 14 defendants thought they were messaging with 13, 14, and 15-year-old boys and girls when they were actually communicating with undercover detectives. A North Carolina man visiting Florida with his girlfriend and three children also ended up in handcuffs in the undercover sex sting, a Facebook post from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said. The multi-agency operation involved law enforcement officers from the North Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Port Orange, South Daytona and Lake City along with the Marion County Sheriff's Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Seventh Circuit State Attorney's Office. Among those arrested was Moshe Josue Delgado Juarez, 25, of Ocala, who accelerated his car into a deputy, fracturing his leg. In addition to being charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, Delgado Juarez was also charged with aggravated battery and assault on law enforcement officers, aggravated fleeing with injury, and resisting arrest with violence. Delgado Juarez was being held Tuesday, June 10, without bail at the Volusia County Branch Jail. Joshua Lee Walker, 45, Lexington, North Carolina, who apparently wanted to do more than spend time with his girlfriend and three children in Florida, also ended up in handcuffs when he showed up to meet who he thought was a child, police said Walker was charged with using a computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child, traveling to meet, and the unlawful use of a communication device to facilitate the commission of a felony. Court records show he is being held on $22,500 bail. The other 12 arrested were Julio Cesar Real Chavarria, 33, South Daytona, Mathieu Merveil Kouatonou, 29, Orlando, Niegel George Johnson, 28, Daytona Beach, Sourab Chilakamarri, 26, Daytona Beach, Reinaldo Ray Medina Jr., 31, South Daytona, Carlos George Guebara, 51, DeLand, Kenneth Leon Baldwin Jr., 39, Daytona Beach, Thomas Edward McKee, 39, Port Orange, Patrick James Concree, 40, Kissimmee, Francisco Javier Jurado, 33, Orange City, Robert Scott Shipley Jr., 26, Vero Beach, and Joseph Alan Williamson, 55, Port Orange. The suspects were charged with traveling to meet a minor for sex, using a computer to seduce/solicit/lure a child, and unlawful use of a two-way communication device, the Sheriff's Office said. St. Johns County teen hospitalized with serious injuries after crashing electric dirt bike
St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said they're investigating a crash Monday involving a teen riding an electric dirt bike and a vehicle. The crash occurred on Nocatee Village and Park Lake drives. The juvenile riding the electric dirt bike failed to stop for the vehicle, the sheriff's office said. The teen was flown by helicopter to the hospital with serious injuries, the sheriff's office said. Escaped ex-police chief recaptured 1.5 miles from his Arkansas prison: Authorities
The former Arkansas police chief who escaped prison while serving a 30-year sentence for murder and rape has been recaptured after nearly two weeks on the run, authorities said. Grant Hardin was captured by law enforcement officials Friday afternoon, approximately 1.5 miles west of the northern Arkansas prison he had escaped, according to the Izard County Sheriff's Office. His identity was confirmed by fingerprint analysis, the sheriff's office said. Hardin, 56, escaped the Calico Rock North Central Unit in Izard County on May 25 after donning a uniform and impersonating a corrections officer and being allowed to walk through a sally port pulling a cart. Arkansas law enforcement officers and the U.S. Border Patrol located Hardin near Moccasin Creek in Izard County and he was taken into custody shortly after 3 p.m. local time Friday, according to the Arkansas Department of Corrections. "Tracking dogs were able to pick up a scent in the area, and Hardin was apprehended a short time later," the department said in a press release. Arkansas' secretary of corrections, Lindsay Wallace, thanked those who helped "bring this search to a peaceful conclusion." He was also convicted of the 1997 rape of an elementary school teacher in Rogers, Arkansas, a crime highlighted in the 2023 television documentary "Devil in the Ozarks." During the search, officials deployed helicopters, drones and K9 officers. A U.S. Border Patrol tactical unit from Texas, known as BORTAC, had also been deployed to Arkansas to assist in the manhunt, officials said. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders expressed gratitude for local, state and federal law enforcement -- and especially thanked the Trump administration for sending a Border Patrol team "that was instrumental in tracking and apprehending Hardin.' "Thanks to the great work of local, state and federal law enforcement Arkansans can breathe a sigh of relief and I can confirm that violent criminal Grant Hardin is back in custody,' she said in a statement.
