Man charged with 1st-degree murder in 2022 Montréal-Nord shooting
In an email, a spokesperson for the Directeur des poursuites criminelles et pénales (DPCP) says the man was a minor at the time of the incident and has been charged in youth court. The accused also faces a charge of attempted murder with a firearm.
This comes after Montreal police arrested three men Friday. In a news release, the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) said it worked with provincial police, the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), to apprehend the suspects in a shooting that left one man dead and another, 25, injured.
The shooting happened on Aug. 10, 2022. At around 10:25 p.m., two armed suspects reportedly opened fire on a group of men talking in a high school parking lot near P.-M.-Favier Avenue and Charny Street before fleeing, the release said.
The 26-year-old man later died in hospital from his injuries, marking Montreal's 19th homicide of that year.
The suspects arrested are 20, 23 and 24 years old. In the news release, police said the 20-year-old was a minor at the time of the shooting.
The shooting rocked the community and left the victims' family searching for answers.
At an August 2022 news conference, Colin's parents said he had dreams of founding his own community organization to make hockey more accessible for kids in the neighbourhood.
The sport was a struggle for his family to afford while he was growing up, his mother, Ronide Casseus, said.
"He was crazy about hockey, he could talk about it for hours, even if you didn't care," she said sitting alongside his stepfather, Roberson Berlus.
The investigation into the homicide and attempted murder is ongoing, police say.

Driver of stolen vehicle facing numerous charges in relation to fatal Red Deer crash
The man who police allege is responsible for a fatal crash in Red Deer on Tuesday has been charged with eight offences. The 33-year-old Red Deer County resident faces one charge each of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death, and failing to stop after an accident causing death. He also faces two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, and one charge each of possession of stolen property over $5,000 and breaking and entering. Mounties believe the man was inebriated when he allegedly drove a stolen pickup truck into an SUV at 40 Avenue and 22 Street, killing its 46-year-old driver, then stole another SUV to flee the scene. He is due in court in Red Deer on Aug. 20.

49-year-old St. Catharines man faces child luring charges, police say
A 49-year-old man has been arrested, Niagara police said, and is facing child pornography charges following an investigation that began by what police say was a "third party group." Niagara Regional Police Service said in a news release on Thursday the man, Darren R. Fox, is facing four charges: making child pornography, making explicit material available to a child, luring a child to facilitate sexual interference and luring a child to "facilitate invitation to sexual touching." Police say that on Aug. 9, officers in St. Catharines responded to an "indecent act call for service." "The initial investigation determined that a third-party group using online decoy tactics had identified what they believed to be a child predator," said police in a news release. "The group confronted the individual at his residence before contacting police to turn over their evidence." The Niagara police's Internet Child Exploitation unit is investigating and said they believe there are more victims. Fox, who remains in custody, also went by the alias "Brett Donovan," police say, and are encouraging anyone with information to contact detectives at (905) 688-4111, dial option 3, ext. 1009128 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
