Keira Knightley on being called terrible actor and receiving Oscar nomination:Was quite confusing

Los Angeles, Jun 14 (PTI) British star Keira Knightley says there was a point when she was "seen as a terrible actress" and had an Oscar nomination at the same time, which turned quite confusing for her.
The 40-year-old actor recently reunited with her "Pride & Prejudice" co-star Rosamund Pike on the occasion of the film's 20th anniversary. The romantic drama was released on September 16, 2005.
She recalled receiving criticism for her performance in "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest", which released in 2006. It was the same year she got nominated in the 'Best Actress' category at the Oscars for "Pride & Prejudice".
''Pirates of the Caribbean' had already come out, but I think in the public consciousness, I was seen as a terrible actress. But I had this phenomenally big success with 'Pirates.' And I think ('Pride & Prejudice') was the first one that was a phenomenally big success, but was also critically acclaimed," Knightley told fashion magazine Vanity Fair in an interview.
"So I remember it coming out maybe the same year, maybe around the same time as 'Pirates 2.' And I got the worst reviews ever for that, and then also being nominated for an Oscar at the same time— it was, in my 21-year-old head, quite confusing," she added.
Directed by Joe Wright, "Pride & Prejudice" was adapted from Jane Austen's novel by the same name. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" was the second installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean" film series. It waselmed by Gore Verbinski.

Chris Columbus denies making another Home Alone film: Cant recapture what we did 35 years ago
Los Angeles, Aug 16 (PTI) Filmmaker Chris Columbus might have created one of the most loved franchises with "Home Alone" films, but has no plans to return for another sequel and believes it should be left alone. Columbus' directorial "Home Alone" was released in 1990, featuring Macaulay Culkin in the lead role. The film revolved around Culkin's character Kevin, an eight-year-old who is left home alone while the entire family leaves for a vacation. "Home Alone" became a sensation at the box office, emerging as the highest-grossing film of 1990 in the USA. The film grossed over USD 476 million worldwide at the box office, against its budget of USD 18 million. It was followed by a sequel in 1992, titled "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York". In the recent interview, the lead actor mentioned the possibility of returning to the sequel if he was paid enough. But Columbus has made it clear that what was made 35 years back then shouldn't be touched again, as it can just turn out to be a mistake. "I think 'Home Alone' really exists as, not at this timepiece, but it was this very special moment, and you can't really recapture that," he told ET in an interview. "I think it's a mistake to try to go back and recapture something we did 35 years ago...I think it should be left alone," he added. Besides the two films starring Culkin, the franchise had other films with different child actors, including "Home Alone 3", which was released in 1997, "Home Alone 4" in 2002, "Home Alone: The Holiday Heist" in 2012, and "Home Sweet Home Alone" in 2021.
