Kaun Banega Crorepati: Bigger money tree, new lifeline, additional round before hot-seat, and all the new rules in latest season of Amitabh Bachchan's show

The game show Kaun Banega Crorepati returned to television sets and OTT platforms for its historic 17th season on Monday. It's been 25 years since host Amitabh Bachchan first introduced the country to this unique quiz-based show, and the show has only grown in reach since then. Now, back with the new season, Sony and Bachchan announced some pretty important changes to the overall structure of the game in order to keep up with the changing times and evolve. The road to the hot seat has now gotten much more difficult as the 'Jaldi 5' (quick-five) has now been added as a full-time segment of the show. The top two contestants of the 'fastest-fingers-first' section will now have to compete against each other for a place on the hot seat. Questions will be asked in quick succession, and the first to answer 5 questions accurately will win the round, and proceed to the hot-seat. ALSO READ: 'Rekha asked to meet me in the same studio where they shoot Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati': Parineeta's breakout talent recalls life-changing interaction Once the participant has made it all the way to the hot seat, they will discover that some features of the game have been revamped. For example, the money tree has now changed. The previous money tree used to begin at Rs 1,000, and the participants would get Rs 10,000 upon reaching the first 'padav' (checkpoint). Now the first question is worth Rs 5,000, and the prize for reaching the first checkpoint is Rs 25,000. However, since the contestant has reached the hot-seat after answering five questions during 'jaldi-5', the first question they answer here will be worth Rs 50,000. There are more changes up the tree, as the second checkpoint, which was initially worth Rs 3,20,000, is now worth Rs 5,00,000. Within the next 5 questions, the participants can reach Rs 1 crore, and then they shall be put to the test with the final question worth Rs 7 crore. Another new development in the game is the introduction of a new lifeline, called 'Sanket Suchak' (Hint-Giver). The fictitious computer-ji will now provide the players with hints upon using this lifeline. This time, 'Phone a friend', is not in the list of lfelines, and the contestants have the option of choosing between '50:50′, 'Audience Poll', and 'Sanket Suchak'. The first two episodes of the show are out now on Sony Liv. A special tribute segment was a part of the first episode where Col Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Commander Prerna Deosthalee all joined Bachchan on the hot seat after helping defend the country a few months back during the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. Another Maha Utsav episode will air on August 15 at 9 pm to celebrate Independence Day.

Seth Rogen Hints At Possible Pineapple Express Sequel: ‘Maybe One Day…'

Last Updated: Seth co-wrote Pineapple Express with Evan Goldberg. The movie featured Rogen, James Franco, Gary Cole, Rosie Perez and Danny McBride. It has been more than 15 years since Pineapple Express came out, but the 2008 stoner comedy still has a strong following. Viewers have often wondered if the wild story of two unlikely friends on the run could ever get another chapter. The question came up again when Seth Rogen recently appeared on Watch What Happens Live. Host Andy Cohen read out a fan's query about whether there was any chance of a follow-up. 'Maybe. We can probably sell it to streaming or something," Rogen replied. Cohen said he believed there was 'a big demand" for another film. Rogen responded, 'There could be. You never know. I don't know. I'm not great with sequels. It's not where my mind goes, but maybe one day." How The First Film Took Off Rogen co-wrote the first film with Evan Goldberg from a story they developed with Judd Apatow, who also produced it. Directed by David Gordon Green, the movie featured Rogen, James Franco, Gary Cole, Rosie Perez and Danny McBride. In the film, a process server and his marijuana dealer end up fleeing from both criminals and a corrupt police officer after witnessing a murder. Its action scenes and offbeat comedy connected with audiences, making it a box office hit. Soon after, there were early talks about a sequel. Why A Sequel Never Happened Plans to continue the story were discussed after the film's success, but they fell through because of budget issues. 'We tried to make one. Thanks to the Sony hack, you can actually find the email when Sony decided to kill the movie and not make it. It was something we were very open to several years ago, but Sony was not that interested in it," Rogen revealed during a 2020 appearance on The Howard Stern Show. In 2013, Sony released a fake Pineapple Express 2 trailer as part of an April Fool's joke to promote Rogen's other film, This Is the End. Seth Rogen And James Franco's Fallout Any chance of reuniting the original cast faces another roadblock: Rogen and Franco's friendship has ended. In 2018, Franco faced multiple allegations of inappropriate sexual behaviour. Later, further accusations emerged, which included a case he settled involving claims from former acting students. In a 2024 interview with Variety, Franco said, 'No. I haven't talked to Seth. I love Seth. We had 20 great years together, but I guess it's over." Rogen had supported Franco early on, but as more accusations came out, he stepped back. Speaking to The Times in 2021, Rogen said, 'I also look back to that interview in 2018 where I commented that I would keep working with James, and the truth is that I have not and I do not plan to right now." He added that 'it is not a coincidence" their friendship changed during that period. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
