Princess Charlotte officially enters the double digits today. In honor of her 10th birthday, Prince William and Kate Middleton released a new portrait of their daughter, continuing a long-standing family tradition.
The image, shared on the couple's official Instagram account, was taken by the Princess of Wales during a recent hike in Cumbria, a region in northwest England. Charlotte is pictured smiling against a backdrop of open countryside and hills, dressed in a camouflage jacket and blue backpack.
The young royal isn't frequently in the public eye, but she did attend the family's traditional Christmas Day church outing in December.
Charlotte is Kate and William's second oldest child and is currently third in line to the British throne. She was born on May 2, 2015, in London. Her full name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, pays tribute to both Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana.
Kate and William have marked each child's birthday with a new photo since Prince George was born in 2013. While some portraits have been more formal, this year's image is candid and casual.
The release follows a similar post celebrating Prince Louis's seventh birthday in April and comes just ahead of Prince George's 12th birthday in July.
Kate, who announced her remission from cancer in January, has slowly resumed her royal duties. She recently made a public appearance on St. Patrick's Day in London, attending the Irish Guards' annual parade in a dark-green Alexander McQueen coat and hat.

Phoenix Suns' Devin Booker survives Flagstaff 'ambush' by kids, praised for act of kindness
Devin Booker seems to always find time for young fans. Even when golfing. An Instagram post is circulating of the Phoenix Suns star recently stopping in a golf cart in Flagstaff to give some young fans some attention, many of whom were wearing his jersey. Advertisement The video included the caption: "So this happened yesterday……. I got to watch these kiddos meet their idol, a moment that just sticks with you. The pure joy on their faces was like actual magic!! "And Devin… what a class act. He was so kind, patient he's an absolute gem of a human. Also, sorry for the mid-golf ambush Boook." This isn't the first time Booker has made some children's day (or year) with an act of kindness. In April, he bought golf balls from some children in Flagstaff, apparently working on his golf game some more in the cooler weather. And just a day prior to that, he stopped to purchase lemonade at some children's lemonade stand in the Valley. No wonder Booker is loved in Phoenix. 'I flew from Manchester to Ibiza and spent less than a night out in the UK'
A savvy Brit spent less jetting to Ibiza than she would have done on a night out in the UK. Savannah Southward decided against paying extortionate prices in Blighty. The 22-year-old booked some cheap flights to spend 17 hours dancing and soaking up the Spanish sun. Savannah and her pal Leighton Speak spent just £45 on their Ryanair tickets from Manchester Airport. The salon owner arrived around midnight and partied until 6am, before the pair headed to the beach. The pals sunbathed their hangovers away and topped up their tans before heading back to the UK. She spent £40 at the club and £15 on spending money so in total the trip costs her £100. 'Even though Ibiza is an expensive place I didn't spend more than I would on a night in the UK,' Savannah, of Wigton, near Carlisle, Cumbria, told Luxury Travel Daily. 'I think a lot of people do day trips abroad because there's always cheap flights and sometimes you spend less than you would in the UK. 'I would absolutely pick Ibiza nightlife over the UK, it's always so busy with so many options of clubs and music. 'We landed about 10pm and had some pre-drinks before we went to CamelPhat's opening party at Pacha. 'It opened at 11pm but we got there for about 12:30am and stayed until 6am. 'We then waited on the beach until it was time to go back to the airport about 12pm. 'We didn't go to sleep but we were definitely ready for a nap when we got on the plane. 'The whole night went so fast we didn't even have time to think about being tired. 'We both agreed it was the best night out we've ever had and now we know how easy and affordable it is we have rebooked for July.' The duo took the trip last month flying out on 20 May and returning the next day.
