Former Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist Takes Plea Deal In Manslaughter Case
Former Red Hot Chili Peppers Guitarist Takes Plea Deal In Manslaughter Case originally appeared on Parade.
Josh Klinghoffer is best known for his time as the guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but what a number of folks don't know is that he's been dealing with a major lawsuit since 2024.
The 45-year-old musician took a no-jail plea deal for a vehicular manslaughter charge on Wednesday, May 28, according to a Thursday, May 29 report by People. The outlet noted that Klinghoffer was present in an Alhambra courthouse on Wednesday, where he pleaded no contest to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter without gross negligence charges.
Los Angeles County Judge Rosa Fregoso sentenced the guitarist to one year of informal probation and 60 days of community labor, according to Rolling Stone. The outlet also reported that Klinghoffer must pay restitution – which is set to be decided at a later date – and complete a driver safety class as well.
The sentencing comes just over a year after Klinghoffer allegedly failed to yield at a crosswalk and accidentally struck and killed 47-year-old Israel Sanchez on March 18, 2022. Officials revealed that the guitarist was driving a black 2022 GMC Yukon and confirmed that Sanchez's death was caused by blunt force trauma.

Sanchez's daughter was also in attendance at the Alhambra courthouse, where she wept as she read her victim impact statement aloud.
'My father was an extraordinary grandfather to my [children],' she said to the courtroom, before she added, 'His absence has left an irreversible void in our lives." She went on to note that her father's death was an 'avoidable loss that has shaken [her] family.'
The date for the civil case hearing was set for July 1.
Klinghoffer was a part of the Red Hot Chili Peppers from 2009 to 2019, when John Frusciante – who joined the Peppers in 1988 after the death of their original guitarist Hillel Slovak – returned to the band. The rocker has since joined Pearl Jam as a touring guitarist for the band.

Kylie Kelce Admits To Parenting Mistake After Welcoming Fourth Baby
Kylie Kelce Admits To Parenting Mistake After Welcoming Fourth Baby originally appeared on Parade. Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie may have four children — but it doesn't mean they've stopped learning on their parenting journey. The couple welcomed their fourth daughter Finnley in March and Kylie says she recently realized that she'd picked up a bad habit while caring for their youngest child. The Not Gonna Lie podcast host admitted that she noticed that she's been scrolling through her phone a little too much. Kylie explained that she can't help but look back at old photos of her other children and compare baby Finn's milestones to her older daughters. "I will say, it's almost as bad as Googling on your fourth kid, when you start scrolling back in your camera roll to see what your other children were doing at this age," Kylie shared on the May 29 episode of her podcast. "It's a bad idea. It's not a good idea. And I would like to stop doing it, but I can't." While it's certainly not the biggest parenting flaw, Kylie added that she is admittedly is still heading to Google when she has questions about raising a newborn — even though it's the fourth time she's doing it. "I am still Googling things 'cause that doesn't stop either," she shared. "It's similar like when people say to me, 'Well you have four kids what's your advice?' No, I actually still have no idea what I'm doing. We're all winging it." Kylie also shared some details about what the past few months have been like with the new addition to the fam, revealing that Finnley prefers to be close to mom when she's napping. "I birthed a child who prefers contact naps. We love that. I have been attached to the tiny human for the past 8 weeks," Kylie said, adding that she was going to have the "sickest bicep" from holding the little girl so much. She continued, "Maternity leave for me is figuring out how to do things one handed again. That is a skill that you have to master. We have graduated to having her wrapped onto me, no exaggeration, anywhere probably anywhere from three to five hours a day collectively." Kylie added that she's been trying to include her daughters as much as possible in caring for Finnley — although Bennett, 2, tends to pretend that her sister doesn't exist. Meanwhile, Wyatt, 5, and Elliotte, 4, have been "super helpful" with the baby "They want to talk to her. She very much locks in on their faces and is distracted from an upset moment by their voices and by how close they get which is, I mean, one of the cutest things you've ever seen in your whole life," Kylie shared. Loretta Swit, Emmy-Winning Star of ‘M.A.S.H.,' Dies at 87
Loretta Swit, the Emmy-winning actress best known for her role as Major Margaret 'Hot Lips' Houlihan on the iconic CBS series 'M.A.S.H.,' has died at age 87. According to her publicist, Harlan Boll, Swit passed away on Friday at her home in New York City, likely from natural causes. Swit and Alan Alda were the longest-serving cast members on 'M.A.S.H.,' which aired for 11 years from 1972 to 1983. It was based on Robert Altman's 1970 film, itself adapted from a novel by Richard Hooker, the pseudonym of H. Richard Hornberger. The series' two-and-a-half-hour finale on Feb. 28, 1983, drew more than 100 million viewers—the largest audience ever for a scripted television episode. Rolling Stone ranked 'M.A.S.H.' No. 25 among the best TV shows of all time, while Time Out placed it at No. 34. The series won the Impact Award at the 2009 TV Land awards and a Peabody Award in 1975 its humor and 'the manner in which comedy is used to lift the spirit and, as well, to offer a profound statement on the nature of war.' Swit transformed Houlihan from a one-dimensional character in the film—played by Sally Kellerman—into a complex, evolving woman. Related Stories 5/30/2025 5/22/2025 'Around the second or third year I decided to try to play her as a real person, in an intelligent fashion, even if it meant hurting the jokes,' as Swit told Suzy Kalter, 'The Complete Book of 'M.A.S.H.'' author. 'She was a character in constant flux; she never stopped developing.' Swit appeared in nearly every episode and pushed for a more realistic portrayal of women. 'One of the things I liked, with Loretta's prodding, was every time I had a chance to write for her character, we'd get away from the Hot Lips angle and find out more about who Margaret was. She became more of a real person,' Alda told The Hollywood Reporter in a 2018 interview. The series finale saw Houlihan return to America to work at a hospital. Swit did not agree with this decision for her character, telling Yahoo Entertainment in 2023: 'I didn't think that was correct for my Margaret. I think her next move was Vietnam. So I didn't agree with that, but that's what they wanted her to do.' After 'M.A.S.H.,' Swit became an animal welfare activist, selling perfumes and her memoir to benefit animal nonprofits. The actress was born in Passaic, New Jersey, to Polish immigrants, studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, and had notable roles on 'Gunsmoke,' 'Hawaii Five-O,' 'Mission Impossible,' and 'Bonanza.' 'Loretta Swit's portrayal of Margaret 'Hot Lips' Houlihan was groundbreaking—bringing heart, humor, and strength to one of television comedy's most enduring roles,' National Comedy Center Executive Director Journey Gunderson said in a statement.
