Vehicle rescued from Lake District off road track by mountain rescue teams
Coniston Mountain Rescue Teams were called out yesterday, February 27 at 3:14pm to the Atkinson Coppice area, after reports a two wheel- drive hatchback had come off an off road track between Little Langdale and Tilberthwaite, sliding into a wall.
Although, mountain rescue teams would not usually assist in the recovery of vehicles, concerns were raised around a health condition of one of the vehicles occupants.
In a statement on social media, Coniston Mountain Rescue Team said: "On a sunny but cool day, a couple of men drove a 2-wheel-drive hatchback up an off-road track between Little Langdale and Tilberthwaite.
"They decided to turn back, but slid off the track into a wall and called for help.
"Although we do not normally recover vehicles in this capacity, we agreed to assist due to the fact one of the men had a health condition which could have resulted in concern had we not been able to help.
"We despatched two Land Rovers, and towed/pushed their vehicle back onto the track."
10 volunteer members attended this incident, which lasted for 1 hour and 45 minutes.
