R Davidson (Banchory) Highland League Cup draw revealed
Holders Brora Rangers will start their defence of the R Davidson (Banchory) Highland League Cup against Strathspey Thistle in the preliminary round.
The draw for the prelim round and first round took place on Friday at the headquarters of the competition sponsors in Banchory.
The Cattachs, who have won the League Cup in the past two seasons, will face the Grantown Jags at Dudgeon Park on Saturday September 13.
In the other preliminary round tie Forres Mechanics will take on Wick Academy at Mosset Park.
The first round ties will be played on Saturday November 8 with Inverurie Locos v Buckie Thistle and Brechin City v Clachnacuddin among the standout fixtures.
Trevor Mutch, the managing director of R Davidson (Banchory), said: 'We're delighted to be associated with the Highland League Cup. We really enjoyed our first season sponsoring the competition.
'We saw a lot of different grounds and we saw some really good games so we're looking forward to the new season.
'There's some really good first round ties. Inverurie against Buckie is one that jumps out, while there's the potential for Wick v Brora which I'm sure would be a friendly affair!
'This year the final was between two of the form teams in the latter part of the season (Brora and Fraserburgh) and it was really well-attended.
'Hopefully the 2025-26 tournament throws up something similar.'

He played his part in us winning three pieces of major silverware – the Scottish Cup in 2014 and 2021, as well as the League Cup in 2021. "Alex was also first team coach throughout numerous top six finishes and memorable European adventures, including advancing beyond both Rosenborg and FC Luzern. "He stepped into the role of interim manager on more than one occasion and always went about his business with the utmost professionalism. "Not just a positive influence on first team senior squad members, Alex has also helped shape the careers of countless young footballers who transitioned through our academy. "Again, we thank Alex for his major contribution to St Johnstone Football Club and wish him the very best for the future. "We will provide supporters with a further update in due course."

Clyde boss blasts 'frustrating' Premier Sports Cup rule and pleads for u-turn
Darren Young wants to use the competition to run the rule over signing targets Clyde boss Darren Young has blasted a rule barring trialists from playing in the Premier Sports Cup group stages, and pleaded for a u-turn. Young says he and other bosses are frustrated because allowing trialists would allow them to run the rule over prospective signings in a competitive environment. He said: 'The frustrating thing is that in the League Cup section you're not allowed to play any trialists, which for me and every other manager I've spoken to is a stupid and horrendous rule. 'You have trialists in for pre-season, then all of a sudden you can't play them in this League Cup section, but you then can in the league. 'I don't know why, or who makes the rule, or how hard it would be to change it. I don't understand why they don't allow us to change it. 'Even if they turn around and say to teams, even part-time teams, you can play two trialists it gives us a chance to see them in a more competitive environment, rather than making a decision on people, or they need to sit about for two to three weeks with nothing, apart from training. 'It's frustrating.' Clyde were drawn in Group G alongside Premiership side Motherwell, Morton, Stenhousemuir and Peterhead. The Bully Wee start their campaign at home to Motherwell on Saturday, July 12, and travel to Peterhead seven days later. Clyde host Stenhousemuir on Tuesday, July 22, and visit Morton to complete their campaign four days later. Meanwhile, the club have announced that midfielder Barry Cuddihy will enter his ninth season with the club after agreeing to stay for 2025-26. The 28-year-old achieved the milestone of 250 appearances last season, and boss Young told the club's website: 'I'm delighted Barry has signed on for next season. He's a great player, and a leader on the park and in the dressing room. 'He's got lots of experience, sets the standards, and is the exact type of person you want in the team. 'Hopefully he will get a good pre-season under his belt, and I know he'll be raring to go again. 'Barry is an influential member of the squad and others look up to him. When he plays well you find the team usually plays well, too.'
