Lindsay Lohan hopes Freakier Friday helps people to 'forget about what's going on'

Lindsay Lohan hopes Freakier Friday helps cinemagoers to "forget about what's going on" in the world. The 39-year-old actress has reunited with Jamie Lee Curtis for the new fantasy-comedy film, which is a sequel to 2003's Freaky Friday, and Lindsay hopes the movie will help to lift spirits. Lindsay - who starred alongside Jamie in the original film - told the BBC: "Fans love the movie and there's such a strong loyalty. It made people so happy and I like to make movies that make people feel joy. "There's so much going on in the world now that it's nice to make something that allows people to forget about what's going on." Jamie recently admitted that she felt "tremendous maternal care" for Lindsay after they starred together in Freaky Friday. The 66-year-old actress starred alongside Lindsay in Freaky Friday more than 20 years ago, and Jamie admits that she developed a close bond with her co-star at the time. She told the Guardian newspaper: "I felt tremendous maternal care for Lindsay after the first movie, and continued to feel that. "When she'd come to Los Angeles, I would see her. She and I have remained friends, and now we're sort of colleagues. I feel less maternal towards her because she's a mommy now herself and doesn't need my maternal care, and has, obviously, a mom – Dina's a terrific grandma." Jamie insists that Lindsay doesn't need any life advice from her. The movie star said: "I'm bossy, very bossy, but I try to mind my own business. She doesn't need my advice. She's a fully functioning, smart woman, creative person. Privately, she's asked me questions, but nothing that's more than an older friend you might ask." Lindsay has been through lots of high-profile ups and downs in her life, but she recently claimed that she's now "wiser" and more "settled" than ever before. The actress told People: "I'm at ease in my life because I've lived, I feel like, such a long life at such a young age. I feel wiser now and very settled. I've become such a positive person."

Machine Gun Kelly turned down Sinners over racial slur

Machine Gun Kelly claims he turned down Sinners, because he didn't want to use a racial slur. The 35-year-old rapper says he was invited to audition for a vampire role in Ryan Coogler's latest movie but he declined when he learned that his character uses the 'n-word'. Speaking on The Pat McAfee Show, he said: 'Like Sinners, I was supposed to be in that. The vampire, they had me set up to do the audition - it's the one that's in the house, so he's the second vampire, the one that the guy comes and eats the family. In the audition, he has to say the 'n-word' and I wouldn't do it. 'I have a lot of aspirations to be in movies, it just hasn't panned out that way. I'm on universal timing. It'll align. The angels will put something in the works. 'There's been plenty of movies that come out that I was like, ah, I was supposed to be in that, or I did auditions for that.' It is likely that MGK's audition for 'the second vampire' was for the role of Bert, a KKK member who was turned by the vampire Remmick (Jack O'Connell). The part was played by Peter Dreimanis. Sinners – starring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld and Miles Caton – is a horror movie set in the Mississippi Delta in 1932, where criminal twin brothers return to their hometown to start again but are faced by a supernatural evil.

Love Outlander? This slightly silly prequel is bound to satisfy

Outlander: Blood of My Blood ★★★ Full disclosure: I have not watched a lot of the long-running Outlander, to which this new series is a standalone prequel. But I am across the influence the series has had on the TV landscape in the past decade. Based on the bestselling novels by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander is a genre-mashing time-travel romance. The ongoing series follows Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe), a forward-thinking former military nurse who, on holiday with her husband in Scotland, finds herself transported back to the 18th century while visiting a (fictional) stone circle. Claire falls in with a group of rebel Highlanders, eventually marrying the leader's hunky son Jamie (Sam Heughan) – initially for protection but the two soon fall madly in love. The kind you leave your husband back in the 20th century for. But while Outlander's audience has largely been women – it was once described as ' Game of Thrones for soccer moms' – it's not all hastily removed breeches and bodices, as Jamie and Claire become key players in the Jacobite rising. The TV adaptation has been lauded for its representation of women as multidimensional, and eagerly applauded for its (many) steamy sex scenes, which put women's desire into the foreground. Outlander has also been praised for its largely accurate portrayal of Scottish history, even if 18th-century Scotland was likely far more patriarchal than the version Claire encounters. (The sexual violence that caused controversy in the first couple of seasons is likely accurate.) Ahead of the final, eighth season, which is due early next year, this prequel takes the same premise but with two sets of couples: the parents of Claire and Jamie. Blood of my Blood opens with Ellen MacKenzie (Harriet Slater) mourning the death of her father and fearing who will take his place as the new 'laird'. She's told to focus on finding a husband but marriage has never interested her – until she meets the mysterious Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), from a rival clan.
