Yahoo3 days ago

Oklahoma authorities are searching for a suspect in a murder who they believe was last seen trying to flee the state.
At 4:40 p.m. on Friday, May 23, the Oklahoma City Police Department responded to a reported stabbing near 1700 S Robinson Ave. There, officers found Richard Curnett, 56, stabbed to death, according to police reports.
After conducting investigations, the OKCPD identified River Curnett, 26, as a suspect. Police interviewed his mother, Deborah Curnett, who said Richard Curnett was her first cousin, and the two "stayed together for about 16 years," according to an affidavit. The three of them lived in several tents at the same homeless encampment, court documents say.
According to an affidavit, Deborah informed officers that River suffers from "severe mental health problems like multiple personalities and is a violent person." She also said that River believed Deborah and Richard "were in a romantic relationship, and River did not like that."
Deborah told police River had prior violent incidents with family members, "never liked" Richard, and had stabbed him in the neck in the past, according to the affidavit.
When the incident occurred, Deborah told police that she screamed and attempted to stop River, which resulted in a laceration to her hand, court documents state.
Documents state that Deborah and another witness claim River "had been planning to do this."
Police say River Curnett fled the scene on foot and was last seen near Will Rogers Airport attempting to leave the state. He has yet to be charged.
According to court documents, River Curnett has been accused of the following:
Murder, 1st Degree
Domestic Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon
Police ask the public to call 911 if they see River Curnett, and do not approach him as he may or may not be armed.
The public may also submit tips to local authorities online or by calling (405) 235-7300 or the Homicide Tip Line at (405) 297-1200.

Mid-Del schools implement new crisis training in classrooms

MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (KFOR) — School districts often do training classes to learn what to do in an emergency and keep students safe. This fall, Mid-Del Schools are implementing new training to help during a crisis event. The crisis training simulated a real-life scenario with the parents starting outside the school, then heading inside to the check-in area. LOCAL NEWS: OKCPD releases Traffic Safety Enforcement results in NW OKC 'We never want anything terrible to happen, obviously, but there has to be a plan,' said Darcy Budde, the Principal at Carl Albert Middle School. Right now, the school district has a plan they follow in the event of an emergency, but this fall, it will be elevated after partnering with the 'I Love You Guys Foundation'. It's a group that specializes in school safety after a real situation where a family lost their daughter in a school shooting. 'That's the last text she sent to her parents was I love you guys, so this means a lot because the safety of our students will always be number one,' said Budde. Whether it's a power outage, a weather-related incident, or something extreme, school administrators said the training can be used in a lot of different scenarios. At Thursday's real-life simulation, administrators pretended to be parents, students, and crisis response staff. They practiced going through each station in an emergency, then reunited as a family. LOCAL NEWS: Family rescued after being trapped by tornado debris 'We wanna take those things that we're doing right, just because they're instinct and add more intentionality behind it,' said Dr. Rick Cobb, the Superintendent of Mid-Del Schools. The district is hopeful the new training will enhance how they ensure students are safely reunited with their parents in an emergency. 'Patience is really hard when you're scared and worried about your kids, so that's where we're gonna keep communicating with parents that we have a plan and we can give them details once they get to the reunification site,' said Budde. The district said they will be implementing drills for the new training, similar to a fire or tornado drill, to get students and teachers prepared if the time comes to use it in an emergency. The company released additional analysis from phase 2a RIVER trial suggesting a more de-risked path to approval as compared to the current market expectations, said the analyst. Moreover, the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis chronic cough could be another significant revenue stream for Trevi Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ:TRVI). The current market capitalization of the company is around $627 million which is undervalued considering the strong results from the RIVER trial, said the analyst. Livna expects Haduvio to become a best-in-class for both Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis and refractory chronic cough. Trevi Therapeutics, Inc.
