Air Transat Wins its Seventh Skytrax Title as World's Best Leisure Airline
The awards ceremony took place today at the Paris Air Show in France. Pamela Lloyd-Bergeron, Air Transat's Director, In-Flight Service, accepted the award along with members of the airline's flight crew.

The World's Best Leisure Airline Award is based on passenger satisfaction with the quality of products and services offered by leisure airlines, including both onboard and at the airports. The World Airline Awards are wholly independent and impartial, introduced in 1999 to provide a customer satisfaction study that is truly global. Travellers across the world vote in the largest airline passenger satisfaction survey to determine the award winners. All costs of the Survey and Awards event are paid by Skytrax, and airlines do not pay any entry or registration fee. There are no charges for use of the Award logos and results.
The online survey operated from September 2024 to May 2025, and more than 100 customer nationalities participated, with 22.3 million eligible entries counted in the results. All survey entries were screened to identify IP and user information, with duplicate, suspect and ineligible entries deleted. Over 325 airlines feature in the survey results.
The customer survey was provided in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Turkish, Russian, Japanese, and Chinese.

Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge Flights Suspended due to a Strike By CUPE Flight Attendants
Air Canada Jazz and PAL Airlines flights continue to operate as usual MONTRÉAL, Aug. 16, 2025 /CNW/ - Air Canada today said that it has suspended all operations of Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge due to a strike by its 10,000 flight attendants represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE). The strike took effect at 12:58 am Eastern Time on August 16, 2025. Flights by Air Canada Express, which are operated by third-party airlines, are not affected. CUPE served Air Canada the statutory 72-hour strike notice on August 13, 2025. The airline has since been gradually reducing its schedule of approximately 700 daily flights to manage the labour disruption created by CUPE's strike notice, while working diligently to reach a new, negotiated collective agreement and avoid further labour disruption. Approximately 130,000 customers will be impacted each day that the strike continues. Air Canada is strongly advising affected customers not to go to the airport unless they have a confirmed ticket on an airline other than Air Canada or Air Canada Rouge. Air Canada will notify customers with imminent travel of additional cancelled flights and their options. For those customers due to travel soon whose flights are not yet cancelled, Air Canada has put in place a goodwill policy to allow them to rebook their travel or obtain a credit for future travel. Air Canada cabin staff go on strike, grounding hundreds of flights
Air Canada's unionized flight attendants walked off the job early on Saturday morning after contract talks with the country's largest carrier stalled, in a move that could disrupt travel plans for more than 100,000 passengers. The union representing more than 10,000 Air Canada flight attendants confirmed the action in a social media post at around 1:00 a.m. in the first strike by cabin crew since 1985. REUTERS Montreal-based Air Canada, which is expected to respond quickly by locking out the workers, has said it anticipated canceling 500 flights by the end of Friday during the busy summer travel season. It expected around 100,000 people to be affected on Friday alone. Flight attendants are likely on Saturday to picket at major Canadian airports, where passengers were already trying to secure new bookings earlier in the week, as the carrier gradually wound down operations. Passenger Freddy Ramos, 24, said on Friday at Canada's largest airport in Toronto that his earlier flight was canceled due to the labor dispute and he had been rebooked by Air Canada to a different destination. While the dispute has generated support from passengers on social media for the flight attendants, Canadian businesses reeling from a trade dispute with the United States urged the federal government to impose binding arbitration on both sides, which would end the strike. Air Canada has asked the minority Liberal government of Prime Minister Mark Carney to order both sides into binding arbitration although the Canadian Union of Public Employees, which represents the attendants, said it opposed the move. The Canada Labour Code gives Jobs Minister Patty Hajdu the right to ask the country's Industrial Relations Board to impose binding arbitration in the interests of protecting the economy. Hajdu has repeatedly urged the two sides, which are not bargaining, to return to the table. AP The carrier had offered a 38% increase in total compensation for flight attendants over four years, with a 25% raise in the first year, which the union said was insufficient. In a note to clients on Friday, analysts at financial services firm TD Cowen urged the carrier to 'extend an olive branch to end the impasse,' adding that investors are worried that any cost savings on labor are outweighed by lost earnings in the airline's most important quarter. 'We think it would be best for AC to achieve labor peace,' the note said. 'Not budging on negotiations risks being a Pyrrhic victory.'
