Six interstate drug peddlers held in H'bag

Hazaribag: A total of six drug peddlers were arrested with 15 kg opium valued at Rs 1.5 crore. Contraband, including 28.57 kg raw materials, three motorcycles, six mobile phones, and Rs 66,000 were seized, SP Anjani Anjan said on Thursday.
SP Anjani said, "A team led by Hazaribag (headquarters) SDPO Amit Kumar Anand conducted searches at Lohsinghna, Korrah, and Sadar police station areas. Four smugglers were held from Lohsinghna. They were identified as Pintu Kumar Dangi (25) and Mukul Dangi (28), both residents of Bariatu village under Chatra (Sadar), besides Avinash Kumar (19) and Rahul Pandey (21), both residing in Giddor of Chatra district. Mukul had a criminal record at Ghaziabad police station under the NDPS Act.
Avinash and Rahul had six criminal cases against them."
"In Korrah, 2.5 kg opium, materials for making opium doda weighing 21.7gm, and Rs 66,000 in cash were confiscated. The arrested were identified as Rahul Yadav (23) and Mohammed Arshad Ansari of Thotwa village under Katkamsandi police station limits. Rahul Yadav belonged to Kendua in Chatra," he added.
The SP further said, "From Lohsinghna, 10.8 kg opium and doda valued at 6.67 lakh were seized."
Preliminary probe found that the consignment was being transported from Chatra to across the country, police said.

He also mentioned that nodal officers have been instructed to promptly respond to complaints and enforce the Andhra Pradesh Prohibition of Cow Slaughter and Animal Preservation Act-1977, Animal Transport Rules-1978, The Animal Transport (Amendment) Rules-2001 and Slaughter House Rules-2001. Citizens are encouraged to report any information related to cow slaughter or illegal transport of cattle by calling 112. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, the SP assured.

Rs 54 crore to boost police infrastructure in north Chennai
CHENNAI: Acting on Chief Minister M K Stalin's directive, the state government has sanctioned Rs 54.36 crore for strengthening police infrastructure and public safety under the North Chennai Development Plan (Vada Chennai Valarchi Thittam). The funds, approved through the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), will be used to enhance surveillance, build new facilities and promote welfare initiatives for police personnel and the public. Key allocations include Rs 16 crore for a new integrated police station at V-6 Kolathur and Rs 15 crore for a new building at Peravallur station. The Kolathur facility will house law and order units, crime and cybercrime wings, a women's station, barracks, and a fire station. To strengthen surveillance, Rs 9.16 crore will be used to instal automatic number plate recognition cameras at 45 locations. A sum of Rs 90.6 lakh has been earmarked for getting 60 two-wheeler patrol vehicles.

Supreme Court slaps notice on KTR over alleged Musi scam
Hyderabad: The Supreme Court on Friday issued notices to KT Rama Rao in the case related to the BRS leader's allegations of corruption by the Congress government to the tune of Rs 25,000 crore in Musi. A hearing was held in the Supreme Court on Friday on the petition filed by Congress leader Atram Suguna. A bench comprising Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma heard the petition. Rama Rao had previously alleged that the Congress government had committed a scam of Rs 25,000 crore in the name of Musi rejuvenation. Expressing strong objection to the allegations made by KTR, Congress leader Atram Suguna filed a complaint at the Utnur police station. The police registered a case against KTR based on the complaint of the Congress leader. KTR had earlier approached the Telangana High Court to quash the case registered against him. After hearing the arguments, the High Court gave a verdict quashing the FIR registered against KTR. However, Suguna filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court verdict. The hearing on this was held on Friday and the Supreme Court issued notices to KTR asking him to reply to the petition.
