Elite WR commit Kohen Brown shuts down recruitment, sticking with Texas
Texas has been red hot on the recruiting trail over the last few weeks. Last weekend, they got a pledge from four-star wide receiver Kohen Brown. However, in this day and age of college football, the recruiting process continues until a player officially signs.
A few days after his commitment, Brown canceled official visits to Notre Dame and Ole Miss. On Saturday, Brown let it be known that he isn't taking any more visits as he has shut down his recruitment and will remain with Texas.
Brown was once committed to USC. However, after he decommitted in May, Texas made him an offer six days later. In less than a month he took an official visit to Austin and that's all it took to get his commitment.
The Longhorns have the No. 18 recruiting class at the moment per 247Sports with Brown still on board. They hosted a ton of prospects this weekend as well, so their ranking could improve soon.

Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer expects Micah Parsons to play in season-opener amid messy trade request
Though there hasn't been much movement publicly, Dallas Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer is confident that star Micah Parsons will be out on the field for their season opener in a few weeks. Whether or not that means Parsons and the Cowboys have a new deal in place, however, is a different question. 'I feel good that Micah is going to be out there against the Philadelphia Eagles.' Parsons is entering the fifth-year option of his rookie contract this fall, which is set to pay him about $24 million this season. He has undoubtedly proven himself to be one of the best defensive players throughout the league already. He had 12 sacks and 43 total tackles in 13 games last season while dealing with an ankle injury. But despite having months to get it done, Parsons and the Cowboys failed to reach a contract extension this offseason. That led to Parsons making a trade request early in training camp, something that owner Jerry Jones said he doesn't plan to honor. Parsons has been with the Cowboys throughout the entire preseason, but he's been limited in part due to a back injury. Jones and the Cowboys don't appear to be any closer to a new deal, either. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, things have gotten 'personal' and each side is 'dug in.' 'I don't know if necessarily talks will [pick up], but we've got a game coming, and he's under contract,' Jones said last week as the team wrapped up its California portion of training camp. There is plenty of time to go before the Cowboys take the field against the Eagles on Sept. 4. Jones, who has been in this position plenty of times before in his time with the franchise, could easily reconcile with Parsons in time and strike a new deal. But at least for now with negotiations looming, both Jones and Schottenheimer are clear on one thing. They expect Parsons out on that field in Week 1.

Twitter reacts to Broncos trading 7th-round WR for a 4th-round draft pick
The Denver Broncos have agreed to trade wide receiver Devaughn Vele to the New Orleans Saints, the team announced Wednesday. The Broncos just used a seventh-round draft pick to select Vele last year. In exchange for the 27-year-old receiver, Denver will receive fourth- and seventh-round draft picks from the Saints. Here's a sampling of how Twitter/X reacted to the news. Popular Big Ten analyst predicts breakout season for Michigan State QB Aidan Chiles
A popular college football personality has made a bold prediction in favor of the Spartans and starting quarterback Aidan Chiles. A well known Big Ten personality and analyst on social media is expecting big things from Chiles this season. Ben Stevens -- also known as Big Ten Ben -- put out a bold prediction on Wednesday in favor of Chiles having a monster season in 2025. He is predicting that Chiles will lead the Big Ten in passing yards. That's quite the statement from Stevens, and one that would certainly mean big things happened for the Spartans this season if it comes true. Chiles threw for just shy of 2,500 yards last year in his first season as a starter. For some perspective of what it would take to lead the league in passing yards, Ohio State's Will Howard threw for just over 4,000 yards last season. So it would probably take at least that total to lead the league in passing this year for Chiles. Do I think this is possible for Chiles? Yes, I actually do think it is possible. Now is it likely? No, it's not and that's why it's a fun eye-grabbing bold prediction from Stevens. Chiles will get his first crack at putting up some big passing numbers in the opener against Western Michigan next week. Kickoff for the opener between the Spartans and Broncos from Spartan Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on August 29.
