CBS Sports grades Texas A&M HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 roster
CBS Sports grades Texas A&M HC Bucky McMillan's 2025 roster Texas A&M's best coaching move in several years came this spring, as Athletic Director Trev Alberts took a gamble that has already paid off after hiring former Samford head coach Bucky McMillan to take over the basketball program after Buzz Williams departed for Maryland after six years at the helm. So far, McMillan has completely rebuilt his first 2025 roster, adding 12 players from the transfer portal, while his latest addition, Spanish guard Rubèn Domíguez, could be one of the most impactful players due to his vast international experience and elite 3-point shooting skillset. However, signing former Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako, shooting guard Rylan Griffen and Creighton transfer guard Pop Issacs deserved the headlines as potential stars who should lead the Aggies in several categories next season. With all this movement that has made a once-fringe NCAA Tournament team a potential contender during McMillan's inaugural season, CBS Sports's David Cobb provided his roster grades for every first-year head coach, and to no surprise, Texas A&M received an A- based on the talent and experience on the 2025 roster. Here's what Dodd had to say regarding his grade: "How would McMillan fare recruiting at a big-boy job after arriving from Samford with exactly zero high-major experience of any sort on his resume? The answer, as it turns out, is just fine. The Aggies have assembled a competitive roster highlighted by three top-80 transfers and plenty of outside shooting. Pop Isaacs (Creighton/Texas Tech) and Jacari Lane (North Alabama) are serious bucket-getters in the backcourt, while Rylan Griffen (Kansas/Alabama) and Mackenzie Mgbako (Indiana) can pop it from the wing." "The question will be whether the roster is deep enough for McMillan to employ the breakneck pace and deep rotation that defines "Buckyball." But his first wave is certainly not hurting for SEC-caliber talent, and the early June addition of 22-year old Spanish shooter Ruben Dominguez helps alleviate that concern." Ahead of his first season with Maryland, Buzz Williams' 2025 roster received a B+, while new Texas coach Arch Miller received the same grade. Dodd is 100% correct in questioning if A&M's roster is deep enough to master McMillan's intense system, but the shooting is there, and he still has two roster spots available to reach the 15-player roster maximum. Mwenentanda eager for opportunity with Vanderbilt
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda is a former Washington high school standout, who just made a run to the Final Four with Texas. Now, she's on the move to another SEC School. Ndjakalenga played three season with the Texas Longhorns, appearing in 37 games this past year as a junior. She started in 15 games, including the Final Four contest against South Carolina. 'I love Texas and I got what I needed out of Texas. I got my degree,' Mwenentanda said. 'I just wanted something different.' Mwenentanda entered the transfer portal following her junior season. 35 teams reached out to her, but she had to picky, knowing she has just one year of eligibility left. 'Being a part of some rebuilding process wouldn't have allowed me enough time. I had to look at the options that were the best fit for me, as far as teams that were a little bit more established,' Mwenentanda said. Another factor in Ndjakalenga's decision was the ability to help fill her goals, which include playing basketball beyond college. 'The goal is to play pro basketball and that's why I entered to portal, to see where I can best take that stepping stone to achieve my goal of playing basketball,' Mwenentanda said. Her decision brought her to the Music City of Nashville, becoming the newest player for Vanderbilt. 'There are a lot of girls on the team that want to go pro. I know, being in a final four atmosphere, you've got to have everybody that really wants it,' Mwenentanda said. 'Those who are willing to sacrifice and put time towards the same goal.' While Ndjakalenga is taking her talents to Vandy, her heart will always be in South Dakota, a state providing plenty of support for the Sioux Falls native. 'I grew up in Sioux Falls and I've still got friends I keep in touch with. I keep in touch with Parish over at Washington as well,' Mwenentanda said. 'I think Sioux Falls definitely has a permanent place in my heart, because of what it has provided me.' Mwenentanda will make some trips back and forth to Nashville throughout the summer as she gets ready for the basketball season later this year. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Razorbacks' College World Series run is a grand slam for Arkansas businesses
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — The Arkansas Razorbacks are Omaha-bound for the College World Series, and while fans are thrilled about the team's first postseason appearance since 2022, it's not just the players who are racking up wins — local businesses are, too. As excitement for a potential national title builds, that energy is translating directly into sales at stores across the state. 'I get a text, usually from my friends, saying they need a new Razorback shirt,' longtime fan Toni Goble said. WATCH: Dave Van Horn and players talk going to Omaha, beating Tennessee 11-4 At Rock City Outfitters in Conway, online orders are spiking. Owner Ryan Ritchie said demand surges every time the Razorbacks have a successful run. 'Anytime they do well, you see that excitement build up. A lot more website visits, a lot more purchases, and everybody's in a good mood, so they tend to buy more,' Ritchie said. He added that many fans feel personally connected to the gear they buy. 'It's fun, especially to look up in the stands at some of these games and see people wearing our shirts,' he said. 'Usually when they see it, they have a story behind it, or it reminds them of a time as a child going to a sporting event.' That same postseason energy is being felt at Rally House Arkansas in Little Rock, where assistant store manager Carter Martin said foot traffic has increased significantly. 'Those are all gone — and we've been selling a lot of T-shirts,' Martin said. As fans scramble for the latest gear, businesses are embracing the momentum and hoping the team's run continues. 'It's about building that connection with other Arkansans,' Ritchie said. 'And being able to create a product they can relate to and be proud to wear.' Hogs sweep Vols to win Super Regional, Omaha next With more College World Series games ahead, business owners say the economic ripple effect of the Razorbacks' run could last as long as their postseason streak.
