The DGCA further said that, in light of the crash, the frequencies of helicopter operations to Char Dham would be reduced as a precautionary measure.
Enhanced surveillance and operational reviews are also being carried out by DGCA.
'Today, Aryan Aviation Bell 407 helicopter VT-BKA operating flight on sector Shri Kedarnath ji- Aryan Helipad, Guptkanshi, was involved in an accident. There were five passengers, one infant and one crew member on board. The helicopter took off at 05:19 hours for Guptkanshi and crashed near Gaurikund,' DGCA said providing details of the crash.
Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Uttarakhand Civil Aviation Department (UCADA), Sonika, stated that helicopter shuttle services in the area had been closed given the ongoing relief operations and weather conditions in the valley .
Sonika further stated that the District Magistrate and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) will reach the site soon.
'Since the rescue operation is underway and seeing the weather conditions in the valley, our shuttle services have been closed. Almost all the helicopters are involved in the rescue operation. DM and SSP will also reach the site soon,' Sonika told ANI.
'At around 5:30 AM, we got the information that a helicopter, which was going from Shri Kedarnath Dham to Guptkashi, could not be located. After some time, it was learnt that it had crashed near Gaurikund. Rescue operation is underway, SDRF teams have reached the spot. A total of 6 passengers and one pilot were on board the helicopter...' she further said.
All seven people onboard the helicopter, including the pilot, that crashed near the forested area of Gaurikund early today are feared dead, the State Disaster Response Force said.
According to preliminary information, the helicopter operated by Aryan Aviation crashed due to inclement weather. (ANI)

DGCA issues notice to IndiGo over ‘non-qualified' simulator use to train pilots
Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued a show cause notice to IndiGo for using 'non-qualified simulators' to train 1,700 pilots operating to three airports, citing scrutiny of records and email replies from the airline. IndiGo did not respond to a request for comments on the notice. (HT PHOTO) '...it has been found that Category C (Critical) airfield training for flight crew (approximately 1700 (PIC & First Officers) was conducted using non-qualified simulators,' said the notice, a copy of which HT has seen, issued on Monday. It said the review of the simulator training data showed several Full Flight Simulators (FFSs) used for training, testing, or checking for airfields such as Kozhikode, Leh, and Kathmandu were not qualified or approved for the specific airport models, as required under mandatory Civil Aviation Rules (CAR). The notice referred to non-qualified airfields and detailed the location where they were used to train the pilots in command and first officers. It added that issues were recorded in 20 simulators. The notice said two each in Delhi, Chennai, and Hyderabad, five each in Greater Noida and Gurugram, and four in Bengaluru were not qualified to operate on the three airports. The notice said the IndiGo director (training) was responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable civil aviation requirements. '...it has been observed that you have failed to ensure the use of appropriately qualified simulators for training related to Class III (critical) airports, in violation of provisions,' the DGCA said. '...show cause within 14 days of receipt of this notice as to why action should not be taken against you for the lapse under the provisions of the Aircraft Rules and CAR.' The regulator said that it would presume that the airline had nothing to submit in defence in case it fails to respond within 14 days. '..ex parte action shall be initiated against you as per rules.' IndiGo did not respond to a request for comments on the notice.

Majuli (Assam) [India], August 12 (ANI): World Elephant Day is observed annually on August 12 to promote the conservation and protection of elephants while addressing the growing issue of human-elephant conflict. The day aims to ensure that elephants can thrive without clashes with human an increasing human population, elephant habitats are shrinking, forcing these majestic animals to venture into human settlements in search of food. In Majuli, a herd of about 150 elephants has been roaming across different chars and chaporis for several years. However, unlike many other places, Majuli has not experienced severe human-elephant Majuli Forest Department has taken special measures to monitor the elephants in these areas and ensure that, if they enter human settlements, they are guided back to the forests. On this occasion, the department expressed hope for a future free from human-elephant conflict, fostering peaceful forest officer, Garmur range, Abhijeet Doley said to ANI, 'Not only World Elephant Day, but every day is important for us.
