Woman, 93, found dead at home in popular seaside town as man. 65. ‘known to her' arrested over ‘murder'
A 65-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a 93-year-old woman.
Authorities rushed to the elderly lady's home, after receiving a call from an individual concerned for her welfare.

Police arrived at an address on Cherrill Gardens, Bude, at 1pm on June 29.
They were joined by paramedics who sadly pronounced the woman dead at the scene.
Police arrested a 65-year-old, "known" to the murdered lady, in connection with the crime.
Detective Inspector Rob Smith, senior investigating officer, said: 'We are currently carrying out enquiries to establish what happened in this very sad case.
'A cordon has been set up to allow for a thorough investigation of the scene to take place.
'It is believed that the man and the woman were known to each other.
'The community should be reassured that this is being treated as an isolated incident and at this time we are not seeking anyone else in connection to the death.
'There will be a heightened police presence in the area over the coming days as enquiries are ongoing, and I would encourage anyone, if you have any concerns, to contact officers from the local neighbourhood policing team.'

Food delivery firms will ramp up facial verification and fraud checks in the next 90 days to crack down on illegal working after talks with ministers. Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat met with Home Office bosses on Monday after concerns and reports of abuse in the sector. According to an investigation by The Sun newspaper, asylum seekers who crossed the English Channel were working as fast-food delivery riders within hours of arriving in the UK. The newspaper said Deliveroo and Just Eat delivery accounts were being offered to migrants to rent 'within 10 minutes of asking' through social media groups. On June 24, shadow home secretary Chris Philp also posted on X that he made an unannounced visit to an asylum hotel last Friday and found 'clear evidence' of illegal working for Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats. Asylum seekers in the UK are not normally allowed to work while their claim is being processed. Following the meeting with the Home Office, the companies agreed to strengthen checks and said they were committed to crack down on illegal working. It follows the introduction of voluntary right to work checks on all account holders and registered substitutes on Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Just Eat last year, which led to action being taken on thousands of accounts. They have now committed to increase facial verification checks and fraud detection technology to make sure only registered users can work on their platforms. Border security minister Dame Angela Eagle said: 'This Government will not turn a blind eye to illegal working. 'It undercuts honest business, hits people's wages and plays into the hands of the people smuggling gangs. 'I welcome Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats' pledge to increase facial verification checks following today's roundtable. We will keep a close eye on their progress and continue discussions.' Employment rights minister Justin Madders added: 'Illegal working opens the door to mistreatment and exploitation, undercutting legal workers in the process by driving down wages and working conditions. ' A Deliveroo spokesperson said the firm takes a 'zero tolerance approach' to abuse on the platform and that despite measures put in place over the last year, 'criminals continue to seek new ways to abuse the system'. An Uber Eats spokesperson added they will continue to invest in tools to detect illegal work and remove fraudulent accounts, while Just Eat said it was committed to strengthen safeguards 'in response to these complex and evolving challenges'.

Man accused of grandson's murder carried him ‘like a ragdoll', court hears
A man charged with murdering his grandson has told a court he had 'no excuse' for holding the toddler 'like a ragdoll'. Michael Ives, 47, and his wife Kerry, 46, are accused of fatally injuring Ethan Ives-Griffiths when he lived with them at their home in Garden City, Flintshire, north Wales, before his death on August 16 2021. The couple blame their daughter, Ethan's mother, Shannon Ives, 28, for the two-year-old's death, Mold Crown Court has heard. On Monday, Ives was shown CCTV from the back garden of the house of him carrying the two-year-old by his upper arm on August 4 that year. He said that after picking him up from a trampoline, he held him up to avoid nettles in the back garden. Gordon Cole KC, defending Shannon Ives, asked him: 'You held him like a rag doll, didn't you?' Ives replied: 'Yeah.' Asked why he had carried him in that way, he said: 'No reason.' He added: 'There's no excuse, I know.' When Mr Cole asked if Ives had liked his grandson, he replied: 'Yes, obviously.' Earlier in the day, Ives told the court Shannon was 'quick-tempered' and would hit her son after they both moved into the family home earlier that year. He said on the evening of August 14 2021, Shannon had taken Ethan into the downstairs bedroom of the house to feed him and he later saw a red mark on the corner of Ethan's eye. When he asked his daughter where the mark had come from, she said 'I've not f****** done it', Ives told the court. Later that evening, he was in the living room with his wife Kerry and Ethan while Shannon was upstairs on the phone. He said: 'I've stood Ethan up and as I've stood him up his legs have just gone. 'They've gone like jelly and he couldn't stand up.' He said Ethan went to fall backwards, so he reached out to grab his arms. David Elias KC, defending Ives, asked him: 'Had you hit him in any way?' He replied: 'No.' Mr Elias asked: 'Had you grabbed him?' Ives said: 'Only to stop him from falling backwards.' He said he laid the toddler on the floor and rubbed his chest before taking him to the back door for fresh air. Asked if he did anything to get help from the emergency services, he said: 'No, I was trying to bring him round.' Ethan was taken to hospital and died two days later with 'serious, catastrophic head injuries', the court has heard. The jury has been told Ethan's fatal head injury was caused by deliberate use of force, which may have included an element of forceful shaking. Ives told the court that on August 13 2021, he was in the living room making a cigarette when he heard 'contact' that 'sounded like Shannon hitting Ethan'. He said: 'All I heard is a bang. I turned round and Ethan's lying on the living room floor.' He said Shannon had left the room and Ethan was unresponsive for a couple of minutes before he started to come round. He added: 'He sat up and seemed fine.' Ives said Ethan's mother would call him a 'little bastard' and tell him 'f*** off into care or live with your dad'. He said: 'I told her there was no need for that.' Michael and Kerry Ives, of Kingsley Road, Garden City, deny murder, an alternative count of causing or allowing the death of a child, and cruelty to a person under 16. Shannon Ives, of Nant Garmon, Mold, denies causing or allowing the death of a child and cruelty to a person under 16. The trial will continue on Tuesday.

Ethan Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere: Man who chased taxi in street shooting jailed
A man who forced two people out of the back of a taxi before shooting one and trying to shoot the other has been Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere chased down the taxi on an e-bike on Shaw Road in Oldham at about 12:00 BST on 16 January before the driver pulled over and fled, police said. "Glasgow-Lattibeaudiere showed a complete disregard for public safety when he opened fire in broad daylight, endangering not just his intended targets but innocent members of our community who were simply going about their daily lives," she well as the 16-year sentence, he will be required to serve a further four years on extended licence on release.
